  • March drills like TAM but much better music

  • Holy cow....I remember marching that show!

  • Comment removed

  • and the flower drill is a whole lot easier than it looks. Thats the beauty of it.

  • that show was so much fun, that whole trip was fun.

  • Wow you are sadly mistaken buddy. This band is phenomenal

  • @goyankis - Whoever said TT had one of the top two bands in the nation at any point in histoy? Although admittedly good band, I've never heard their name mentioned in conversations about the top bands. They finally one the Sudler behind many other bands. They're not nearly as good as the UT Longhorn band. I doubt they blew the all-brass OSU band off the field. Being loud doesn't automatically makeyou good.

  • im a drummer for the united states navel academy it is awesome

  • The flower drill is amazing. Wasn't this show learned in only two weeks or something too?

  • @PlanoSarah I was in that show, it was my freshman year. we learned it in 1week.

  • This is great drill. The type that all college marching bands should do.

  • Dude i love this band!!!

  • absolutely brilliant drill!!!! GO RED RAIDERS!!!!

  • Way to blow them away TECH band. The crowd looks stunned!

  • The TECH band blew them away!!!!!

  • This was back with Beardon when the Goin' Band had discipline and was one of the top 2 bands in the entire nation, now they are sloppy and over blow with Anderson, I wish they could go back to this, I was in the Goin' Band the year after Beardon left and It was a joke, Anderson is a great person but He's turned the Goin' Band into a sloppy overblowing mess....still GO TECH!

  • Tech came and performed at our high school. I was super happy about that!

  • Wonderful. Blew Ohio State's band away!

  • @Spartan00000000 Yeah right! With over 400 members that band should have blown that stadium apart - didn't happen. The formations were simple and unimaginative, but that is what you get when you try to be the biggest band. There is only so much room on the field. If the Ohio State Band had 400 musicians on the field, instead of 192, and being an all-brass band, it wouldn't sounded so washed out when they were not facing camera.

  • Dont be such a freakin homer. OSU has a great band but they arent the greatest every day, and they sure werent this day. Tech's band was phenomenal and even the OSU crowd acknowledged that. You would gain a lot more respect by being a little more fair handed.

  • @Spartan00000000 I am not the one who should be more fair handed. I was there as a guest of a TT alum and the music was simpler with 400 instruments. Comparisons can't be made let alone making a comment that OSU was "blown out." It is well known that OSU fans are marching band nuts and acknowledge ALL bands. I am not an OSU student, faculty, staff or fan, but most definitely a homer. A music homer!

  • OSUs band got blown away. You even admitted you couldnt hear them from the other side. Get a life.

  • this one time at band camp! and i can actually say it soon cos i will be !

  • man i cant wait till band camp i sound like a nerd but if your in marching band you know where im comin from

  • That was awesome.

  • I was a member of the the Goin' Band (Band I - yeah!) the year the Western Show debuted. The show was written especially for our trip to accompany the Red Raiders to the University of Wyoming. Tim Rhea (now director of bands at TAMU) wrote the arrangements while doing his masters work at Tech.

The Western Show was performed at the Jones as the infamous "Light Show" and in Denver at the Broncos halftime. The Denver Post even wrote an editorial about the show! Yeah it is my favorite show!

  • Fantastic Job Raiders!

  • i saw them on tuesday we played right after them. in band extravaganza

  • Wow! I wish our band was this good. We're only on the high school level, though, but still, this Rocks Out Loud!

  • DOUBLE AWESOME!!!!!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • I love this show! I hope to march my Tenor Sax to this show in 2010.

  • I'm a graduate of Texas Tech, and this makes me proud to be RED RAIDER! Wreck 'em Tech!!!

  • I had trouble believing that these were actually people because of how flawless it was. AMAZING!!

  • Having marched in this show at OSU,I can say this was the best show I was ever in. Go Fire-eaters!

  • Could this mean you play trombone!!

  • i love this...

  • I am an Aggie and I love the whole military marching thing. But I am also a drum corp fan and this drill is amazing. Awesome drill writing. Its great to go out of state and tive Texas a good name. Great job Raiders

  • Thanks joshprice. The styles are different, but the execution is equally flawless. Many of these drills were first performed by the Tech band in the '70s, designed by the late, great Dean Killion.

  • Great show!

  • wow....

  • OMFG.. that flower drill and the words were insane!!!!!

  • That was awesome!

  • I love how A&M is proud of their "Famous Square Formation."

  • Love the Goin' Band!

    Wreck 'em Tech!

  • Agreed....soooo much better than A&M's gay band. I could do that shit the aggies do and I have never played an instrument in my life. The Goin' Band kicks ass. awesome performance. Wreck'em Tech!

  • This is so much better than the gay atm band.

  • Spectaculuar!! Just wish they would play Fight! Raiders Fight! to exit the field. Would be the perfect ending.

  • I loved marching this show last year. I have so much pride in Goin' Band after being a part of this tradition. Thanks for my foot and a half.

  • Crazy! That drill was amazing...much respect TX Tech! I would LOVE to an HBCU band w/ equivalent #s and skill get this drill in their hands and add their own flavor to it!

  • This was a very good drill. This is what a band can do with the right numbers and instrumentation. IT was a nice lil drill. I'd love the see some SWAC bands with numbers like these and the training to use it right

  • We posted this show on the HBCU band website and Texas Tech got nothin but compliments from this show from HBCU bands all across the country.Just go on swacfans(go to forums and look for drilling) and the5thquarter(go to sound studio)

  • That was nice!

  • I was in the Goin' Band for four years (1998-2001 seasons). We did this drill while I was there, too. Loved it. Damn proud to be on the Tuba line!

  • Great execution of the flower drill! Nice touch adding Script Texas Tech at the end!

  • Dean Killon lives! Great drill by the man that got the Tech band on the map. One of the better executed shows i've seen from TTU. The OSU fans got a real treat, wish i had been there to see their reaction.

  • Go Raiders. I'm a proud Red Raider

  • I was at that game but this is a much better view than what I had. Awesome band!

  • Very impressive Tx-Tech. I marched for ISUCF"V"MB (Iowa State)...wish you guys would have came to Ames, would have been fun to see that. Looks like TAMU doesn't have the best band in Texas after all.hahaha

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn that was the best drill I have seen. Texas Tech You have my respect.

  • You have my respect Texas Tech.

  • I always heard that they had crossed the T, in the same fashion as tOSU dotting the I. Guess that wasn't true.

  • Awesome show, guys! We did a similar rotating flower a while back :) The only thing that caught me was that the percussion doesn't do a lot as far as formations go :( Nonetheless, I loved it!

  • This show rocks...LOVE the flower!

  • And to think, that was the first show i got to preform in as a Freshman... it was a blast!

  • If that was taught in a week KUDOS to TTech!!! It's very rare to see a 'mega'-band get this close to a precise show, both playing and marching. The rotation of the flower was impressive, although 90% of the drill was a bit 'old-school' for my tastes. It got the crowd going and was executed well is all that really matters. Good job!!!

  • love it.

  • that show was learned in a week baby!!!

    KEITH BEARDEN IS MY HERO!!!!
