  • Mighty fine looking plane and that music Hot damn makes me want to watch anime

  • F-2 is probably better looking than the F-16 IMO.

Nicely done Japan. You outdid yourself once again.

  • kamakaze!

  • F-2 is a Japanese product. It is a highly modified F-16. The wings are much larger aircraft. Parameters and performance is closer to F-15

  • F-2 je japonský výrobek. Jedná se o značně upravenou F-16. Křídla letadla jsou mnohem vetší. Parametry a výkony se blíží spíše F-15

  • The rumours said, this fighter is more better than F-16, it's that true?

  • @sullivan1509 yes, it's better than the f-16 something close to f-15 because it is a modification with many improvements

  • F-16 better

  • Great video!! I loved the close-ups of the jet exhaust nozzle closing & opening!

  • f-2's far more superior than the us f-16 from the composite material used to low radar signature. It's a viper zero not a fake falcon, it can knockout russian flankers which f16s cant even match.. and dats the Japanese technology!

  • @Evers00 in your dreams!

  • @TheF15ace how rude... tnx..now i would'nt be surprised if many people hates you.

  • Any yank would call it fake! Probably too scared to handle the truth that its better than the F-16 hahahahahaha

  • "fake falcon" should be the export version of the f-16 that had that old j-79 engine in it what a piece of crap. Less thrust more weight and heavy heat shields for the rear fuselage.

  • "fake falcon"? hell no. mitsubishi bought the f-16 license from general electric, made the plane larger, improved pretty much everything about it and what came out is the f-2.

you might as well call the abrams fake because it uses a german gun system.

  • @kaschtnsamtdiekarbln british gun system

  • I see noone here take time to make a search

F-2 Might use some parts of F16C model but its different plane

a 25% larger wing area composite materials used to reduce overall weight and radar signature longer and wider nose to accommodate a phased-array radar larger tailplane larger air intake three-piece cockpit canopy capabilities for four ASM-1 or ASM-2 anti-ship missiles, four AAMs, and additional fuel tanks Also, the F-2 is equipped with a drogue parachute,

  • @Blue2Volf but still the price with regards to all the added modifications doesnt justify its cost to performance ratio IMHO.wouldnt you take 3x grippens over one of these?a modded f 16 shouldnt cost this much.and i guess that what most of the people here are trying to voice out.

  • its supposed to be an improved f 16 but for its price of $126M(5 to 7x the actual cost of f-16,mehh they should have just gotten a f-18 hornet for half the price or more f 15s and f 16s.. for 40 to 60M price tag of grippen that shouldve been considered as well considering its a 4.5 gen fighter with stealth tech.

  • @fretduster03 18 of the F-2B were destroyed by tsunami at Masushita Air base a few days ago. The Defence Ministry saying "possible permantly"...

    :(

What a waste! And you are right about the price and the F-18 SuperHornet option. 2 engines always better than 1.

  • @RomaniaTricolor 18?wow thats a heartbreak, but im sure thats the last thing they would worry about with all teh devastation and their country beingbattered with natural disasters left and right.and with a nuclear meltdown threats as well.can can always get soem more of these in the future but yeah its quite a waste.i wonder after the tsunami warning how come they werent able to fly those beasts out of there when they had time?

  • @fretduster03 The majority of the base employees were on vacation. True story. I guess they will take a serious consideration for the future regarding F-35B. If the price of a japanese F-2 is between 110-120 mil. $, I bet Mitsubishi will gain a contract for making F-35s also. This firm is part of the whole Trilateral Commision and all that...

Eitherway, no matter how devastating was the situation, in the Japanese Airforce someone should make seppuku after all this frakkin' monumental crap.

  • wow japan is so proud of this fake falcon................you even put on fancy music along with it. ><

  • @KLpoeple1 Actually the F-2 was originally going to be an original design, but the USA said they had to make it a variant of the F-16.

  • japanese crap aircraft

  • @yakuza488 I would hope so. The F-16 itself is going on 40 yrs old :P

The eagle has like 3 newer fighters.

  • i think every single thing about this jet is just as nice as the f-16, especialy the paint job

  • F-2 Development demand at 1985

1.450NM with 4 piece of ASM

2.can equip 2-4 SR MR AAM

    3.All-weather activity

4.has Electronic Warfare ability same as fighter aircraft

  • @yakuza488 LOL. A hybrid car really? You really think that is hard? They had electric cars a 100 years ago. They had electric trains and buses for years. You really think its that hard to put a gasoline motor with a battery? lol. Carriers were invented by the British lol. You mean a bullet train that uses foreign inventions? Number one in tactics? LOL! With what battle experience? Japan hasn't seen war since it ran from Iraq 6 years ago. This is what I am talking about. Its hilarious.

  • Japanese innovation:

    1. Tokyo Tower = Copy of Paris Effiel Tower

    2. Manga = Copy of American Cartoons

    3. F-2 = Copy of F-16

  • @Hananim91

  • @Hananim91 Jesus Christ I'm not alone lol

I go to art school and number 2 is SOOO true. :P Only real animators see it though.

  • @yakuza488 Japan is not innovative at all LOL. Asians being innovative is hilarious. They copy, copy, copy, and try to make it better.

  • Japan looked at original "Viper" and seriously thought how to make their and better ^^ Love it!

  • Planning: started as the second F-X developed by own (after ww2)

Technical: concluded that it possible to develop by themselves, EXCEPT its engine.

Economical: US frustrated against trading unbalance between them. Also the R&D cost of national development seemed too high.

**Political: US never agree with only selling its engines, but claimed to develop based on US plane. Japan could only accept it for the engines.

  • @itgetit F-2 shares alot more with the F16 than just the engine........

  • @randomdude5640

it sounds you dont get what I say. i am sorry if my English is bad.

Btw, it is not only just the engine, but also others, such as around vertical stabilizer.

Other core components are all different from F-16.

  • one massive giant size expensive f-16 copy

  • Comment removed

  • THIS IS 99% F16 ! ! ! and it's not a shame to Confess that. the f16 is the best 4 generation aircrft in the world.

  • The F-2 can kick the crap out of F-16's....they are bigger, faster, and more flexible. It also has far more advanced eletronics and radar tracking. Only downside is that it cost 4 times as much as a F-16 and i am farly cirtain that four F-16's could take a single F-2

  • @Babylauncher3000 Are you sure this is a better plane than a block 60?

  • @NoOne3234 Block 60 is better...

F-2 is based on F-16C/D Block 50/52. But it doesn't mean it's same as Block 52, just loosely equivalent to it.

  • @Babylauncher3000 i think that you don't know what you talking about ! the f16 have long long history of air to air combats and many of shot downs of Hundreds of other war plans ! just in the israeli air force the F16 have 100 shot downs in 2 wars ! in all the history of the F16 no one lost in dogfight ! what is the combat history of the F2 ? today the last models of the F16 are the best air to air and air to ground air crafts ! the F16I block 52 + and the F16 block 60 are the advanced aircafts.

  • A very good fighter aircraft, greetings from Serbia.

  • - the F-2 was designed and tested long before the F-15SE was introduced.

    - late model F-16 block 50/52/60 are in the range of $50-70m and the F-2 is similar in configuration to these more expensive versions than the older $30m F-16 versions.

    - it's not just about the cost per plane, but you're building up your indigenous country's fighter tech industry and learning along the way.

    - Licensed manufacturer of late model F-16's or F-15E's might have been a better option though...

  • Our Japanese Ministry Of Defense and Technical Research and Development Institute are developing a new Fighter Jet designated the "Mitsubishi ATD-X Shinshin." It's supposed to be a Stealth Fighter like the US F22-Raptor. I hope it will beat the F22-Raptor, but it probably won't. Who knows? Lol.

  • This is F-16 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice replica, all details match perfectly! :) congratulations! If I was Japan I would cheat a bit on the replica and bult some vector trust on it for the change!

I don't think there was pressure, Japan just wanted to bult some "proven" model instead of spending money on tests and new fighting tactics to pilot a newborn fighter

  • @215alessio 1. It's not a perfect replica, its bigger and looks a bit different. 2. No money was saved - This cost ~$100 million/per plane whereins the F16 costs less than $30 milliion. 3.No political pressure? Who'd spend $100 million/F16 variant when you can get an F15E or FA18D.

  • @vk45de

100million? damn that was a stupid manouvre, maybe it is l"earning how to buld a jet money"

I would buy me an F15SE silent eagle with that money

but don't worry Japan is making a real zero something that levels the F22

  • The F-2 is actually very different from the Falcon:

Some differences in the F-2 from the F-16A:

    a 25% larger wing area

composite materials used to reduce overall weight and radar signature

longer and wider nose to accommodate a phased-array radar

    larger tailplane

    larger air intake

    three-piece cockpit canopy

capabilities for four ASM-1 or ASM-2 anti-ship missiles, four AAMs, and additional fuel tanks

Also its equiped with a drogue parachute.

  • @Tabby266 that ain't different that is just enlarged f-16. it isn't very different its basically a copy designed which is englarged.

  • @myfunkychannel Uh, no. It is enlarged, has different instruments, and has a parachute holder on the back. Figure shit out before you talk back.

  • @Tabby266 so copying it 1-1 and enlarging it is self designed??

  • I agree its unfair to call the F-2 a 'Fake Falcon', but you can't completely ignore its F-16 lineage. The original design for the FS-X program that became the F-2 was based on the Agile Falcon studies done in the US for an enlarged F-16 to counter the Russian SU27 series. Plus, Lockheed Martin is one of the major contractors.

The F-2 is still unique to distinguish it from the F-16 in my book. For me, its also a symbol of cooperation between the US and Japan in producing such a capable plane.

  • Fake falcon couldn't do your own plane and stop copying on others!! Fake falcon pffff

  • bgmないわ

  • butchered falcon

  • i like Aikawa Nanase

  • Es una copia barateli del F-16 Falcon.

  • Nipon Rulezzzzzz, fock you Yankees

  • Actually ,, i think it looks a little cooler than a f-16

  • perfect jet

  • Damn...it does look like an F-16! LOL, oh well. Not a bad plane to copy, if you ask me. I always wondered why the F-16's layout wasn't repeated if it is such an excellent plane? I mean, F-16 is one of the most successful fighters ever, and I've never seen another fighter copy any of it's best points (until now, that is!). I know that the chin intake isn't IDEAL, but it works well, especially at high AOA's. And the wing/body blending is wonderful...you know how much fuel the F-16 can hold?

  • oldergods it want be doomsday if america collapse yes there will be lots of suffering but it will be a blessing in the long run...the world will be free from a dominant power that dictates orders and threaten weaker nations with santions and war...while letting certain nations commit genocide(ISRAEL GOOD EXAMPLE) and possess nuclear weapons..double standards and hypocrisy.Thats being a 2 FACE. BUT YET WANT TO TELL OTHER NATIONS ABOUT DEMOCRACY OR SHOULD I SAY DEMON-CRACY.

  • Yes because genocides and all that stuff wouldn't happen if the US suddenly disappeared...get real lol.

I think everyone should be thankful the US is so benevolent, just imagine the worst it could do. This ain't even close to it.

  • Isn't the F2 based of the F16 for political reasons?

Japan has a bilateral deal with the United States to buy weapons exclusively from them.

Also, Japanese lobbyists wanted a piece of the pie so they co-developed the F2 so that money will go to both the Japanese and American contractors. Hence why the F2 is so expensive.

  • Also, I believe it is a sense of national pride for the Japanese to build and fly their own aircraft.

  • US interrvened the idea that Japan develop their own F2 alone

because US feared Japan would go too far. It's US that proposed the joint development so that they can get Japan under control.

  • almost every nation complain about from south america to africa to the middle east there is a solution..stop using the american dollar for international transactions and use your own currnecy...let america economy collapse that simple!!! problem solved.arab nations should use a single currency same with asia and africa.stop bitchin and take action

  • Clearly you don't know anything about macroeconomics, go ahead and cut all your ties to the American economy, watch as your countries implode.

Why do you think China and others are so involved with helping the American economy stay alive?

  • American's perfectly aware and scare that if We Japanese start developing Aircraft without any American political pressure then we can produce world's best quality aircraft.

Look at car industry what happened?

    and all kind of electronics.

Therefore always they disturb our air power development.

  • Well hopefully we can change that. I'd really like to see what Japan could come up with. Besides, between china and faggot ass north korea, we have a common enemy. I think US and Japanese relations are strong enough to let Japan have an independant military.

  • "Viper Zero"is Vought V-143 reminiscent.

But F-2 became compulsion tie-up development of the United States.

In it, the Toshiba COCOM event was the beginning.

  • Americans don't have any right to make fun of F-2, for looking like F-16.

The only raeson F-2 looks like F-16 is because the US government put political pressure on Japan to redesign F-2 based on F-16, so the Japanese wouldn't develop their own tech in fighter planes.

The original design before US started sticking their nose in looked more like Gripen than F-16.

You people should be more aware about what kind of political pressure your government puts on nations all around the world.

  • Got that right !! I agree!!! In my country's 60 year history american pressure has been there rom the start

  • u r right man

  • show us proof that it was supposed to look like the gripen. we didnt put tech into their plane and obviously if it wasnt for us the japanese would probably still be using the zero all three of thier fighters are american F-15,F-4,and partially the

F-2. 60% of the F-2 is japanese. and we only helped with the air frame and possibly some avionics. the rest is from japan.

  • well-said

  • @ghoroumone Actually, the F-2 started out as a joint project between the USA and Japan to create an enlarged F-16, but the US ended up dropping out of the program in favor of the JSF. Japan ended up adopting the F-2 as a replacement for the F-1 despite no longer being able to share the costs with the US.

  • @ghoroumone These people who apply political pressure should have the shit slapped out of them in public.

  • @ghoroumone i may add this is a joint project result of Mitsubishi AND Lockhead Martin

  • @ghoroumone I'm American and I think this is the most beautiful jet I've ever seen.

  • @ghoroumone

The French and British must have done it before the US as the F-1 looks like the SEPECAT Jaguar/ Mirage F-1 fighter jets.

  • @ghoroumone US did not pressure anyone it's a joint project between many corporations and a base fighter was used F16 block 40, so don't use the US is pressuring Japan why would anyone pressure another country to use their design? They made it better that alone is proof US & Japan uses strength in unison they also help train the Japanese pilots. JASDF also use the F15 Eagle. Full Name: MITSUBISHI F2 US Lockheed Martin & MHI

  • @ghoroumone I am sure all this political preasure you speak of, stems back to the 1940's my friend, enjoy your f-2 and we'll keep making fun of it!!

  • @ghoroumone WE DONT MAKE FUN OF IT.There are so many differences in both planes its not funny.straiter and longer wings on the F-2,its over all bigger.

  • @ghoroumone Let's say that tomorrow USA cuts the handcuff their putted on Japan military hands at the end of WWII. Can Japanese promise not to even again try to take over the world?

USA forgave Germany at the end of the Great War and painfully learnt the lesson. "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice , shame on me".

  • @trodat07 japan has no interest in trying to take over the world, it was the only country that was nuked and then vowed peace after that. you should go to japan, i went, hell my grandfather flew b-29s and was stationed there. but this isnt the 40s and japans living standards and values are among the best in the world. i could pass out drunk in tokyo and not be robbed, its probably the safest place in the developed world. much safer than the USA and im an american

  • @jarrodm2002 I have a friend right there right know and I'm enjoying his travel blog. AWESOME PLACE. Anyway, what have respectful, low crime style of life to do with warfare politics? Who knows what could they do if they receive the slightest chance? Most nations are belligerent "per se" (past'n'now-a-days) and they need some room, don't they? Also, this restriction has been profitable to them as Japan is a top power-player (their army budget it's just 1/14 of USA's).

  • @trodat07 it has everything to do with it. but we could go beyond that and say that even if japan were a hostile nation it would take trillions and decades to match the USA anyways, and thats not even counting nuclear weapons which i am positive no Japanese person ever wants to experience ever again. what are you afraid of anyways your an American have some backbone, why are you afraid anyways? ever see a dog bite out of fear...its pathetic and insulting to the point my generation wants to leave

  • @trodat07 oh my bad you are from Argentina, i just checked, sorry about that. it appears you do have a legitimate reason to be afraid.

  • @jarrodm2002 LOL Everybody, everywhere chooses sides here, you know it XD For example, many, many people here cheers AGAINST USA as if there were something personal between them. Part because they are communist minded and very Fidel's Cuba sympathizers, part because they are total AHs, they tend to blame USA and the so called "First World" for every single problem they have. "We're poor, blame USA!", "I have no job, blame USA!" and so on.

  • @jarrodm2002 Basically, the speech goes "we ain't loosers, is USA who screwed us up", id est, the easy way to see things by blaming others for our own faults. Example again, how long took Japan to recover from a total defeat and two freakin' H-Bombs to become one of the most powerful nations today and how long has Argentina been saying it's "trying" to leave the (never-ending) crisis behind? 50+ years for Japan, 110+ and still counting for Argentina.

  • @jarrodm2002 LOL same I went to japana, as an asian immigrant from taiwan living in australia

I notice most european has remain 1940 image of asia, they still see us like some kind feudal state like we still eat dog or carry samurai sword ! Wat da hell man ! We have learned alot of new idea and value from western for example democracy and technology but what do they learn from us ?

  • Idiot was the United States, who helped Japan to create this plan

search the Internet before posting saying that the plane is fake

  • @grantourismo0109

I learned anime from japan lol

  • @jarrodm2002 Don't underestimate Japan's desire to become an aviation superpower. Companies involved in the defense industry (including Mitsubishi) have been trying to make Japan a major player in commercial and military aircraft since Japan received permission to build aircraft again from the US occupation forces in 1952. Actually the F-2 is based off an early project, the FSX (fighter support experimental) which Japan had wanted to build domestically, but eventually co-developed with the US

  • @jarrodm2002 i'd just like to add that germany started 2 world wars, they have a full-scale military right now, and they haven't made any move to try to take over the world again. so i don't think japan ever will either.

  • @jarrodm2002 safe place indeed! peace!

  • @ghoroumone We kicked out Lokheed Martin from our country, and we recovery our own fighter industry, this guys put his nose in soberane countrys roun the world but sombody must stop they....

  • @ghoroumone There is a reason for doing that since the Japanese look to the U.S. for its defense in Asia. Right now Japan is watching a growing Chinese and Russian military.

  • @ghoroumone suck my cock .....copy cats!

  • @ghoroumone I always thought that the F-2 IS the F-16 but like most things that get imported or traded, they have to change things to distinguish them from the original. Like the Sega MegaDrive (Genesis), Nissan Silvia S14 (Nissan 200sx). etc.

  • @ghoroumone In the words of Mell Brooks; It's good to be king ;)

But in all seriousness, the f16 was a damn good multirole fighter and from what i've read so is the f2

  • The design of F-2 is based on F-16 figher, but F-2 is actually a attacker to destroy ships but not a figher. But F-2 is slightly sperior than F-16 as figher,

  • Depends on which block of F-16, and depends on what task.

  • It's a respectable multirole aircraft. Incorporating the air superiority features of the F-16 and expanding on them, as well as adding more advanced Air to Surface capabilities and expanded ordinance capacity. I'd never thumb my nose at having them on my side of a conflict.

Plus it looks cool, and is fun to fly in Ace Combat games.

  • looks like f-16.. everything is the same

  • bigger body made of CFRP

    active phased-array radar

    4 ASMs

    "everything" is same?

  • It's an Enlarged F-16...with different materials used...not just your usual F-16...

  • It is the bigger brother of the F-16, Lockheed Martin and Mitsubishi are working together on the F-2

  • I love the mottled blue camo the JASDF puts on these things.

  • does anyone know if the f-2 has the same anti-air capabilities as the f-16? and does the f-16 have anti ship capabilities in the first place?

  • F 2 is more advanced than it's younger bro. It has got 4 more AA missiles and 4 ASM2 anti ship missiles.

  • the f-2 isn't a fake falcon, its a different extension of the falcon thats better suited for air-to-ground fighting while the falcon is more suited for air-to-air

  • Just like the F-4 Kai=) The Japs made it better=) Great vid-)

  • i heard its used alot in naval roles. does anybody know if its carrier capable? i can't see the arrester hook but maybe i'm blind...

  • i never knew people called this the fake falcon. that's terrible. i think the viper zero is a great plane.

  • I wonder he use the word "fake".

F-2 is great plane we can proud.

  • F-2A/B Is a fake falcon with juste a little bit diferent wing and japan have F-15J/Dj

  • The fake falcon has phased array radar and carbon fiber.

They has already kicked F-16 in DACT.

  • This aircraft,by own merits, well deserve be called

"Japanese Falcon" : better wing, radar and advanced technologies seems to me enough reasons.

  • The U.S. commander said he was impressed with the F-2, which is designed and built by the Japanese. The aircraft has some capabilities that our aircraft does not, Waskow said, mentioning the Active Electronically Scanned Array radar, which has three times the range of a conventional antenna.

  • If the japanese industries did so fine job beginning from normal F-16, can you imagine if they had taken the F-16XL project, installed their technologies and CFTs? I don't know why the Japan don't sell its military aircrafts to the rest of the world: the Kawasaki P-X patrol aircraft,US-1a Kai amphibian SAR/Patrol,C-X cargo aircraft,T-4 jet trainer and F-2 fighter surely could fly in any air force of the world.

  • Fake Falcon

  • What is ability of this toy? Max speed or etc? can anyone answer me ?

  • Max speed: Mach 2.0

    Service ceiling: 18,000m

Range (expected for anti-ship missions): 834km*

    Thrust/weight ratio: 0.89

    Max weapon payload: 80,85kg*

The (*) marks improvements over the F-16C, or at least supposed to be. I can't find a solid number for the F-2's actual maximum range, but the common consensus is that it is greater than the F-16C. Some also assume it is more agile (it's based on the "Agile Falcon" proposal), but I don't know for sure.

  • The apparent trade off (F-2's range + payload vs. F-16's speed + thrust/weight ratio) is mostly due to the different purposes they were built for. While both are designed to be capable of both air-to-air and air-to-ground/surface missions, the F-16 focuses more on the former while the F-2 was built more with the latter in mind, specifically anti-ship roles.

  • thank you friend ^^

  • No prob. :)

  • Japan will have a total of about 100 F-2s, 100 Phatoms and 200 F15s. Already powerful enough for the defense of the country. The good thing with F-2 is that, they are made in Japan and can be made more locally in times of war. Since Japan can prove that she can made indigenous aircraft as F-2, it is not that far it can made 100% F-15X (for service until 2030) and a future variant of F-22 (if the US allow her to make it). The industrial capability t \o make own weapon will matter a lot.

  • Japan is phasing out its F-4s. They are thinking about replacing it with either the Eurofighter Typhoon or the F-35 Lightning II.

Japan's prospects of buying the F-22 is basically zero, at least until the US decides the tech behind it obsolete and can be released to foreign governments without much consequence, but it's working on the ATD-X, a tech demonstrator for an indigenous stealth fighter. When it enters service it will probably be called the F-3.

What do you mean by "F-15X"?

  • F-15X pertain to the next generation that will add new features and greatly improve the maneuverability, electronic warfare, frontal stealthiness and lethality of F-15E (Strike Eagle) which might nearly equal that F-22. At present, the next generation F-15 is called F-15K or SLAM EAGLE. Next year is the F-15SE or SILENT EAGLE. There might be other next-gen design so that F-15 will be at service until 2030.

  • I remember now, JASDF is indeed looking at F-15K equivalents or better as a possible option to replace their F-4Js, along side the Eurofighter and the F-35.

It's a logical option since the JASDF pilots already have experience with F-15s, making them able to adapt to them much easier than completely new planes like the other two. It would be less interesting, though. Personally I wish they would buy the Dassault Rafale.
