  • come on mike..dont push to hard hehehe

  • this is a terrible interpretation of a great reggae standard, sorry guys

  • It Gets No Better Than THIS !!!!!

  • genial fantastic

  • very very good!!!

  • The Stones should do this song at shows more often .

  • lindo tributo!

  • lindo tema...

  • these guitars don know about the reggae music

  • @JusticieroBurning they did know about reggae. Check up cookin up reggae style from late seventies. the problem here is the low leveled keith and ron, cause their age.

  • @tenmaster100 Looks like you haven't seen Shine a light ?

  • @rockthemix yes... i ve seen lots of shows from the sixties to shine a light. and for me, the last great tour (in sound) is steel wheels. keef in 89-91 really made the difference. not now.

  • @tenmaster100 he can't be as good as used to be in the 90s But, you can't say that he is not, still today, a great guitar player.

But it is certain that at 60, he can't be as good as he was in the past ! God they're higly talented but not that much !! :D

  • @rockthemix xD im a big keef fan. what i meant with "low leveled" is that is not as good as always. but keef will be always a great player... thanks to his unique style

  • @tenmaster100 yah ! sure ! And as he says 'together we are better than 10 others' sometimes he seems to have his own little live session, but still playing the song and doing solos..incredible. among his other skills

  • @tenmaster100 I take issue here. 2002/3 Last Licks tour was fabulous -- but it was Ronnie who was tops on that one, certainly for his brief run of sobriety.

  • @JusticieroBurning So you do huh?

  • PONELO EN ESPAÑOL! IGUAL EXELENTE!!!!

  • Charlie WATTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THE BIG, THE BEST BAND, ROLLING STONES IS BOB MARLEY, WONDERFULL.

  • that was fucking great

  • AWESOME!!

  • reggae + rock = the heaven

  • How the fuck can this guys keep on surprising me? God... Greatest Band Ever.

  • Best thing I've seen from the Stones in 25 years

  • @SeanTeleMan yeah! Bob is alive !

  • were was this recorded? Lucky crowd!

  • @pbcourage2 The Phoenix in Toronto, I was there!

  • @Croidler This was TO? SWEET!

  • were was this recorded? Lucky crowd!!!

  • were was this recorded? Lucky crowd!!!

  • Esto si q es un homenaje, sus satánicas majestades covereando al rey del reggae Robert Nesta Marley...wooooooooow

  • @suaveV11 Satanicas majestades?

  • @lacount91 así se le conoce a los rolling

  • @lacount91 creo que no tienes sentido

  • Actually the Stones do what they've always done; interpret the music they love and combine it with their image and showmanship. Keith recently said in an interview that because the audience in England couldn't have the original Blues artists from America, in the early sixties, they could at least give them second best. Funny thing is that a majority of people could relate to that more.

  • how many guitar players are on this video? The rhythym will show you.

  • how many guitar players are on this video? it is like where's waldo. the camera man is good, you have to follow the rhythym.

  • Stones still roots rock reggae!!!

  • i never knew the stones did marley

  • Yeah !! The Stones tienen reggae !!

  • It's not a bad version and LIVE it was probably pretty decent. The challenge is for anyone to play Bob Marley and the Wailers music. Bob was a king and they were princes. The Barretts'?! What a killer rhythm section!

  • Stones rock the reggae. Just like they rock everything. They're having fun, God bless them. Toots and the Maytalls -- that's all need be said. Fuck all the haters. Love the lovers. One love.

  • I think these days the Stones are at their best during surprise-numbers and random jams.

  • @bustedup Yup.

  • hahahaha keith is so high

  • Está de pokaaaaaaaaa! Amo este video ^^

  • some people need to learn their limitations, this is pretty bad.

  • @r0llskyay0 You're on crack.

  • keith let peter tosh stay in his house while he was away. when he returned his house was trashed and goats were roaming freely throughout the house with no sign of peter... classic!

  • Some racist ignorant asses called this a whitey version, bullshit, stones rock it out. The Dvd in surround sound is powerful!

  • @harp1925 fuck you all racists! racists are gays!!!!

  • what's wrong with you douchebags? stop trying to outsmart each other; it's pathetic. If anyone thinks this is a poor white man's attempt at reggae, go watch the Jagger/Tosh version of Walk and Don't Look Back, and then look at all the black people in this video. Jah, it's like you haven't even watched it you fuckers.

  • @pachacutti..So now we have it, at last!!! Waffle aside your critique is the same as jyps, "ridiculous whitey rockers version", or "bad". I agree to differ. Errrh!!! I think that's were i came in . Psuedo intellectual arguments are a poor mask for your own ill informed prejudice. As for the question "are they bad", all i can say is yes!! The Stones are the "baddest" white Rock 'n' Roll band of all time.

  • @daubreyjaneweirdsley, I refused to stoop to your level of ignorance and dogmatic assumption. Also your discriminating tone. I stated that it was important to not address you directly because you were seeking to use the Race card and felt obligated to assume that all those challenging you were not White or Anglo.

Am actually White and proud of it. You on the other hand feel guilty for being White and reacted defensively when someone mentioned "Whitey".

  • @pachacutti You seem to make a habit of making the wrong call in everything you have addressed.Your understanding of identity, culture and metaphor, O'Conners ethnicity and my background. I'm of Anglo Chinese descent, i consider myself neither white/black/yellow although i'm proud of the duel strands of my heritage. My extended family consists of European/Asian/Afro Caribbean & i've lived all over the world in different cultures.Your ignorant liberal white boy inverted prejudice is laughable.

  • Rock, Folk and Country are all American styles of music that evolved from Blues which is definitely an American sound. These all originate from African slaves who adopted Western instruments and Religion to express themselves.

This Stones BMW is pretty bad because Mick's voice is worn and he seems uninspired. It's too bad because the Stones Highwire song from 1991 is definitely

inspired by Get Up Stand Up.

  • @pachacutti You are correct, Irish folk music did also contribute to the origins and development of American music. Irish influence over music did stop contributing to American music while African presence in the Americas kept contributing to the development of Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Rock, Funk, Punk, Hip Hop.

I think I answered the question but it may not be the response you want to read.

  • @pachacutti You still don't get it!!! Your point about the orgins of (some) American music forms is absolutely correct, but that's not the debate. The debate is whether an art form is defined by ethnicity and culture alone & only that ethnic group and its antecedents can practice that art form with any authenticity or legitimacy? I argue not; because if that were the case then Black people couldn't practice Classical music which springs from a European tradition, which is patently absurd.

  • @daubreyjaneweirdsley, yes, I did understand where you were coming from but responding directly to an accusation isn't always the best way to open up a conversation for others to read. Throwing stones, no pun intended, can only have limited effect. "Whitey Rockers version" speaks more to White as a metaphor of music in general and not Black music at all. Sinéad O'Connor made a brutally powerful version of Prince's "Nothing compares 2 U" and she is Anglo Saxon.

    I think history reveals truth.

  • @pachacutti. Well actually O 'Connor is Irish/Celtic not Anglo Saxon, big cultural difference. "Brutal"isn't a word i would use to describe her version of Prince's song which i adore.More/ touching/affecting/raw.The rest of your argument makes absolutely no intellectual/rational sense whatsoever reads like a muddled apologia by someone who can't see the literal forest for the metaphorical trees.Spare me the cliché "History reveals truth",Oh! Please! I recommend a basic Cultural studies course.

  • awesome

  • new high foe Youtube!!!

  • sorry stones.. this wasn't written as "a nice treat for the audience"

  • Sorry the Stones fans, but this is a ridiculous whitey rockers version.

  • @jyps..What an absurd and racist comment. To follow your rather perverse logic, that must mean Black people can't do classical music, rock, folk or country? If you don't like the Stones version fair enough but why use racial stereotyping as a means of criticism. Does that mean Black people have 'natural riddum'?!!!

  • @pachacutti..I think you ought to do a little research. Sure, as i hope everyone knows,"The Blues had a baby & they called it Rock 'n' Roll". Folk came mainly from the Uk & Ireland & Country is a hybrid of European music forms & the Blues. But you're still not addressing the point. Jyps was arguing the Stones cover of Marley was bad because it was "whitey". That's a judgement based on race. Not competence/aesthetics or preference & still begs the question can Blacks do Classical/Folk/Country?

  • very nice. The stones are lovers and champions of all music.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shittttttttttt excuse me but i burnnnnnnnnnnnnn my fuckin joint man rollonig rolloing rolling my joint

  • drummer fucked up at the end. Keith cool as always.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • LONG LIVE THE KING

  • just amazing

  • I love what the Stones are doing because it is part of the ONE LOVE raggae is preaching. However their delivery of this song shows what Bob said that it is difficult to copy raggae. You need the feelings just like you need feeling to play the blues properly.

  • BOB MARLEY-----king of kings

  • it's not a song to make cover, it's a song to sing, if you know what i mean :)

  • @phunkademic

    Exactly ♥

  • tosh was hold up kieth's house with a gun kieth showed up through him out end of relationship

  • thats how things go in ja lol

  • rolling stones le blues le rock !!! mercie de ce aprtage merveilleux!!!!

  • traduscanla

  • Muy buen cover. La mejor banda de todos los tiempos, sin duda....

  • tosh was signed to "the rolling stones label and even appeared in one of there music videos. have no idea about the relationship between them but mate, this shits pure. its a pretty good cover considering how old they are, and of course for recognition he was needed to spread jah word.. and god bless him for that!

  • Comment removed

  • Well fact is Mick Jagger and Tosh didnt get along after while. Tosh probably recorded the album with him to get more recognition, They tried with this song but it doesnt work for me :/ It doesnt feel like reggae. More lika cover of some normal song.

  • the rolling stones loved reggae, they met marley and tosh and jagger has also sung with tosh. richards has done some lead guitar on toshs album "bush doctor". Richards even lived in Jamaica a 1 point. what this band doesnt know isnt worth knowing.. jah live!

  • @GherkinGob I think he and Ronnie still have homes there. Also, Tosh was in the Waitin' on a Friend vid...

  • @GherkinGob Both Mick and Keith loved Peter Tosh. They signed him for Rolling Stones Records. Keith started to get into reggae music when The Stones recorded Goats Head Soup in Jamaica, or even before that.

  • @robin14669 And Keith hangs often with Toots and the Maytals...

  • @robin14669 I didnt realise GHS was recorded on Jamaica and i think keith still owns his house there

What a place to live eh? "the island in the sun" hehe

PS are you an original RS fan? cos im only 25 and its taken me abot 8 yrs to catch up on everything i missed in the sixties and seventies it would be cool to know what it was like then with quality bands like this around.

  • Awesome rendition, I love it when the Stones do reggae.

  • dem dutty old junky feen haffi keep dem noses out a yard man riddims..

  • Rolling Stones ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What year was this? OMG. Rock N' Roll doing Reggae. WHAT?????

  • 2006.

They played a lot of reggae music: "Hey Negrita" "Cherry O Baby" "Send It to me" "You don't have to mean it", Richard's "words of wonder". Jagger also sang with Peter Tosh in 1978...

  • LARGA VIDA AL REY BOB MARLEY

  • Muy genial, tremendo!

  • great cover!!!!

off the music for a second is just me or does keith look like he should be in a pirate movie?

  • The band is awesome on this, esp. JaGGer!

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz bob es l unicoo

  • Dear Americans. Get up stand up! Stand up for your rights. Then after you American wake up give my fellow Canadians a rude awakening

  • actually Tosh wrote the majority of the music and all of the lyrics - Tosh wrote the majority of the music that Marley made famous - he was too political and militant and was knocked off by the Jamaican police in what they claim was a "botched robbery"

  • sorry! get up stand up was written by Tosh and Marley in early 70s, not only Tosh, and yes i can see that Peter Tosh wrote that great masterpiece Redemption Song but Marley made it famous! lol lol lol lol lol man! Tosh is nothing to be compared with great Marley, secondly Get Up Stand Up has nothing to do with politics, it's anti Christianity and Jesus pbuh. the whole song is against Jesus and the Church. you dig it?

  • you really wanna tell me that a rastafari sings AGAINST jesus?

what weed are you on fella?

  • well it seems you know the lyrics of get Stand Up song very well lol read read read the lyrics but don't smoke weed while reading lol lol Get up stand up is revolution against Jesus, Christianity and Churches, you dig it ? lol

  • @trevorscottitzgibbon

Lol, could you give an example of a song Tosh wrote that made Marley famous? Get Up Stand Up wasn't really a big hit.

  • @stonechater get up stand up is the official theme song of amnesty international they co wrote it and its a trademark wailers song. if anyones interested, check out the talkin' blues version of get up stand up, its my favorite by far and marley and tosh are kind of on an even level on it

  • it wasn't what he contributed as an individual but what Marley, Tosh and LIvingston created as a unit. Peter Tosh may not be in mainstream radars because he didn't do mainstream songs. The Velvet Underground never wanted to make mainstream music either. Who remembers John Cale? Right? We all remember the other guy because he went out of his way to do commercial cross over music. No problem but understand that they make decisions and its about integrity.

  • @trevorscottitzgibbon bob wrote that music you can see the similarities in his post original wailers music. tosh was more roots reggae whereas bob has a very unique style

  • @trevorscottitzgibbon you are wrong friend

  • Great interpretation...

    Al the best for Stones..........

  • power version in pure rolling stones style

  • Keith is totally in his element!

  • Buenisimo!

  • I saw them do this live in Madison Square Garden 9-13-05. Was a complete surprise. The crowd loved it.. I loved it. Great idea to cover this!

  • tosh' acoustic version is the best one!

  • done over real good congradulations rolling stones you still got it

  • This song was co-written by Peter Tosh
