I love both versions... the GM version is much more bluesy and soulful... but MB does it justice... don't compare them... enjoy both. I am sure Micheal is not trying to "better" GM, anymore than he tries to better old blue eyes... he covered this because he loved the song and the GM version, proved by how he didn't try to stray at all from the original.
