Well, the bus driver is the one that takes the kids to school on that yellow bus parked outside, and perhaps he does the teaching in some schools. :-) In my grammar school, there were teacher aides that were bus attendants.
As we can see here, the tenured ivory-tower Professor Grover makes mistakes that even the three and four-year olds can correct. A scathing indictment of our far-left education system.
I did see this as a kid but never knew Roosevelt Franklin was there and did not know he had a name because in my childhood days he was too much of a minor character and his name was not metioned.
Roosevelt Franklin was bigger in the early 70s when Matt Robinson (RF's creator and Gordon #2) was still with the cast. There was some controversy about RF being a black stereotype, so they dropped him and only used the puppet in ensemble pieces afterward. Personally, I don't agree that RF was a stereotype. He was one of my favorite muppets.
I doubt that this was from 1980. I'd say that it was made in the mid 80s.

"The monster who teaches the students is called...a...bus driver."
"NO, HE ISN'T!!"
I LOVE Grover! XD
Does anyone have the skit that comes after this one? The villain in the Panama hat...I used to love that one...

Grover as a teacher doesn't inspire my confidence in modern education.

If not for Grover calling him Kevin, I was about to ask if Roosevelt Franklin had gone from being teacher to a student! :-)
