  • LOVE these kind of commercials. It makes me happy to be an American again goin through the years of Chevy's. Also shows how much pride we have in our country when these kind of commercials come on.

  • the guy* , not the

  • whats the commercial where it shows the running through the years, starting at a 50s chevy pickup, and ending with a new silverado??? i cant remember what year it was, but it was within a few years ago...i like that commercial, and i want to see it again

  • @AdverbAdjective I think u made a mistake... GM-Ford

  • Chevy is the shieeeeeeeeeeeeet! #ClayDavisforpresident

  • I'm not much of a chevy fan, but I sure am a fan of this commercial!!

  • nothing says AMERICA like a Chevy.

  • kill bill! @ 0:47

  • I have to admit Gm is comming out with good ads again.

  • Chevy Runs Deep.........in your wallet.

  • I love this long. Long live Ray Charles and Chevy!

  • Gee, imagine how much money they would make if they at the very least made new cars that look Exactly like the old, not a new version of the old like the dodge challenger, but actual old body styles and work their way back up to now.

  • I love this commercial. Long live Chevy.

  • does that white guy at 0:30 have an afro

  • @justincox80 naw it's a hat

  • Great fucking commercial

  • I love this. <3 May Chevrolet last forever.

  • Tis version sounds different from the theater.l

  • On principle, it would be the decent thing for Chevrolet to acknowledge the ad was inspired by the blog, Dear,Photograph. For the blog to be as popularly noted at the time this ad was made is not mere coincidence. It's a terrific concept, taking a technique that's been around for quite some time and using it to evoke a specifically emotional response. It's what makes the blog so popular and what makes this commercial good. It wouldn't hurt them to acknowledge their inspiration for the ad.

  • Does anyone know the location at :30?

  • I don't see how they can compare the great looking and lasting Chevrolet's of the years up to the 60's to the plastic cookie cutter look alike over priced cars ??? of today. Sure glad our car buying days are over.

Not picking on Chevrolet because all cars look alike and are ugly at best. Have NO design like the cars of old, no "charm " and class. A dark time for cars of all makes, never thought I would see the day, Lord give me a Model A.

  • who produce this commercial? where did they get the old photos?

my grandpa swears he's in one of them. sincerely, themegaallan2

  • What's the song

  • @TehNoobLand1 I think its Ray Charles America the Beautiful

  • Well done commercial, but Chevy's agency should be a little ashamed just taking the Dear Photo idea and calling it their own.

  • @joephilippon Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! I didn't see any evidence of the ad agency calling the concept their own. Ad executives don't have to have all the good ideas, they just need to recognize them when they see them. Good advertisement.

  • At 20 seconds I'm pretty sure it's half dome at yosemite national park.

    What's the first location?

  • @tjessthemess According to our newspaper, it's near Scranton ND

  • Where is 0:20? Is that the tooth of time?

  • Chevy Runs Deep-let's go another 100 years

  • what is the car in the picture at :30?

  • Wow, what a cool idea! Come up with that all by yourselves?

  • Thank you Ray Charles for singing this song!

  • What car is @ :15? Anyone

  • @TheXcellDIRECTION its a chevy corvett stingray

  • Did some one listen to the song who is that singing

  • If you want a Toyota centennial wain until 2037

  • this is the great Papa Ray Charles

  • I think it's America The Beautiful by Ray Charles

  • @thedixie250 looks like an Impala, they didn't change much over the years but a 1960's Impala

  • Not the biggest Chevy fan in my family but damn does these Chevy commercials remember me of why they were so great.

  • oh and does anyone know who songs this?

  • this commercial like seriously..i dont know why but its one of my favorite commercials .

  • anybody know what the 2nd car in this commercial is?

  • who sings this song?

  • I love this AD and ray charles. Plus my daughter with my 1952 woodie Chevrolet that they bought the rights to my photo

    Go Chevy

    Shot 44 @ Madison ave 1968 nikorex

    SLR.

  • Where can I get the song?

  • Check out what Gustavo Germano did with families of the 'disappeared' in Argentina....something similar but way before this commercial and Dear Photograph and with much more sentimental significance. Amazing and sad at the same time...

  • love this spot

  • Chevy has a ridicoulus obsession of making they cars better then they already are;) Chevy rules!!!

  • There is a difference between Dear Photograph and Michael Hughes. There is NO difference between this and Dear Photograph. Oh wait, yes there is; the ad agency for this got thousands of dollars

  • Must be a clueless ad agency. Totally ripped off an idea and claimed it as their own.

  • Has nobody said anything about the church from Kill Bill being in this yet?

  • @TheAdamMacD damn beat me to it

  • Love this advertisement... Ray Charles singing doesn't hurt anything either!

  • Ppl r talking about how chevy stole the commercial idea? Well they stole the ford mustang and made the crapero(or u might call it a camero) the f150 and made the suckyrado(u mute call silverado) and stole toooons of different things on the inside of Fords

  • @wolfblade8426

Fords and Chevy are both awesome American brands. Love em both

  • Why is everyone complaining, shut up. If Chevy didn't acknowledge the source, good for them. Mind your own.

Happy Birthday Chevrolet (from a Chevy-loving fan)

  • @HSetOSCAR Nice say from someone who clearly doesn't respect himself, of course, you haven't had any great idea in your life so what do you care about credit. Looser.

  • @JuanMarioCardenas

Yeah its not as if you made anything worthwhile either or contributed to the Earth in some way so if I were you, I'd shut up.

  • Happy Birthday, Chevrolet!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHEVROLET! HERES TO ANOTHER 100

  • Love the commercial, but why is Chevy trying to hide the late 70's thru mid 00's? Why no Vegas, Citations, Cavaliers, Chevettes, S-Series, Astros, Celebrities, Luminas, Berretas? They are as much as Chevrolet as Camaros, Chevelles, Bel-Airs and Impalas....

  • Voice-over at the end - Tim Allen!

  • PEOPLE, stop gettin your feelings hurt because Chevy's commercial was inspired by something else. Seriously, you sound like a bunch of little girls. You are exactly what is taking America down the drain nowadays, bunch of oversensitive whiners.

  • Who did the voice-over at the end? It sounds really farmiliar, but I can't place it.

  • CHEVY DID A DEAR PHOTOGRAPH YAY

  • chevy needs to seek an ad agency that doesn't steal it's ideas from others. what the hell are they paying you all that money for? to run a google search? this has Dear Photograph" stamped all over it.

  • thieves.

  • Old idea revisited and popularized in a big way by Dear Photograph. The Ad execs and their lawyers (vernacular reserved) don't have the grace to acknowledge the blog that popularized for a new generation worldwide. This would definitely fall under the backfire, WTF were we thinking, people aren't stupid pile. If they are creative they can still spin it, naaa they're not that good - assholes

  • If you are not creative enough to come up with the idea yourself at least have the stones to give credit to whom you stole it from...that goes for you to voice over guy Tim Allen

  • It's nice to steal an idea and say it's yours

  • So you steal this idea from Dear Photograph and not give credit. Pretty disappointing behavior, Chevy.

  • The original: watch?v=IgiDtyEr6NQ

  • How shameless can companies be? Ripping of people and using stolen ideas for their brand. Disgusting.

  • Foreign cars may be built better than American cars, but driving American has a pride all its own. This commercial reminds me that this country IS great and I am proud to call it my home. I'm proud to be an American.

  • I think Chevy has been listening to Mark Levin.

  • @camarosam Riiiiight. Mark Levin is so influential.

    Oy.

  • Frickin' awesome. Just frickin' awesome. I wish our trade negotiators were forced to watch this commercial before they sat down and negotiated away the American jobs of hardworking American autoworkers.

  • Awesome commercial Chevy!

  • Disgusting rip off of the tumblr DearPhotograph.

  • Great commercial.

  • God Bless Ray Charles.

  • Im not gonna lie...... this kinda made me tear up. Great commercial

  • If you need to ask the song and artist, then you are an idiot. An American institution of songwriting.

  • Awesome!

  • I love this commercial. Can't you bastards just be happy

  • Wats the name of the song

  • @MrMaggotforlife13 "America the Beautiful" by Ray Charles

  • @09Chance k thanks dude

  • I hope whomever suggested and executed this at some point feels guilty for ripping off someone else's idea so entirely. Dear Photograph should consider suing. Yes, others have superimposed pictures on top of pictures before, but anything that looks JUST LIKE a recent, popular, zeitgeist-y internet art project to the point where people's first reaction is "Whoah! Did Dear Photograph sell their idea?" That's a tacky and unethical theft.

  • Who cares if they copied the idea. It's a damn good commercial and you should be proud to be an American.

  • Ok...I hate all American cars with a burning passion. Go Toyota!!!....but this is by far the best and coolest car commercial I have ever seen! It is so clever! I love old cars like that...even tho it's Chevy lol well done Chevy! Happy 100th! Congrats!

  • @johnnydepplover322 I love Toyota and im American

    Never gives me trouble...

    This Commercial is FUCKING AWESOME

  • @AccessDenied55 AMEN!!! GO TOYOTA!...but yea pretty sick commercial

  • @johnnydepplover322

yeah-you go drive your toyota, as fast as you can go before the car crashes due to unwanted acceleration

  • rip off + ugly new car!

  • What's the artist and song?

  • Wait, isn't "Dear Photograph" art? If so, then this is life imitating art, to the point of tears welling up I might add.

  • Dear Photograph, sucks to be you. Love, Chevrolet

  • sorry, but as much as I love the volt the 50 something chevy wins every time

  • Beautiful commercial! I loved my Chevy Cavalier -- such a great friend for many years :)

  • It's obviously inspired by Dear Photograph. But even that was inspired by Michael Hughes. And who was Michael Hughes inspired by? It's a unique and popular idea that lacks a voice in this commercial.

  • ive got my great grandpas 1948 chevy coupe

  • @xXsouthernXrebelXx ray charles

  • Beautiful spot, Chevy truly does run deep.

  • Une histoire des cent ans amour de l'évolution contemporain du véhicule pour les familles qui ont su c'en servir avec les photo de l'époque

  • At 36 seconds you see a little girl standing in front of an old Chevy. The photo was taken by Louis Jawitz, and the little girl's name is Sabra. The Chevy is parked on East 17th Street, NYC. Lou is my brother-in-law and he was a professional photographer and is now retired. The girl is now approximately 45 years old. Lou had 2 studios on East 17th St.

  • buen comecial...:D

  • Chevy didn't rip em off...their hack ad agency did.

  • SWEET ! I still love and drive my Vintage CHEVROLETS everywhere I go ~ they truly are ' The Heartbeat Of America ' ! .

  • Thanks you for the song, this movie is moving

  • The song is America the Beautiful sung by Ray Charles

  • :')

  • does anybody know the song?

  • DP asside....anyone like the dam ad? I did.

  • please, what's the music ???

  • Like.

  • Okay, okay, I'll buy an HP printer. Steve at WhatsTheIdea

  • Whining about dear photograph makes me hate dear photograph. Who does DP think they are. Did DP give everyone credit for DP using that idea too? It's not a new idea. And DP just made me think they are cry babies. What's next?? You going to sue them?

  • @cherry13x do a little research on who the DP is before asking.

  • NO CREDIT SHOULD BE GIVEN TO DEARPHOTOGRAPH! They just popularised this technique, did NOT invent it.

  • The dear photograph concept is brilliant. But snarky unless they at least give them credit for it.

  • how about a chevy truck tribute with the old LIKE A ROCK theme... now that would be cool!!

  • Popularized by "Dear Photograph" ... maybe not created by "Dear Photograph" but, definitely played up because of the popularity of "Dear Photograph" ... guess the guys in the advertising department just couldn't come up with an original idea of their own. And yes, they ripped off "Dear Photograph" because it's so well known.

  • yes its true that dear photograph popularized this but its been done before. however, if they did rip it off, please give credit.

  • Everyone claiming they owe credit to Dear Photograph:

Here's an 8 month old link that provides a lot of "looking into the past" photos just like Dear Photograph. Some photos are as old as 15 months or more if you click the source link, way before Dear Photograph was conceived by Taylor Jones.

    LINK: bit(dot)ly/omdXsS

He definitely popularize the technique we love, but definitely shouldn't take credit for inventing it. Chevrolet probably owes someone credit, but it isn't to Dear Photograph.

  • Cool! I loved it the first time I saw it on DEAR PHOTOGRAPH. Nice. Really should have something like "inspired by.... " Credit clearly should be given.

  • what a shame, stole someone's idea and didn't even give credit at the end

  • I am a huge fan of Dear Photograph (two of my images were picked before it blew in popularity) but Chevrolet doesn't own Taylor (founder) any credit because although he popularize the technique we all fell in love with today, he didn't invent it.

I remember seeing these types of images way before Dear Photograph many times and was glad someone had finally just brought it all together and made it big.

  • Chevy you need to give credit for where you ripped off the idea!!

  • The church from Kill Bill at 0:47...

And Dear Photograph didn't invent this technique, but they definitely popularised it.

  • dearphotograph . com

  • dear photograph

  • hondas and toyotas belong in asia where they are "Made in China". and ford has never been built so "tough". Chevy is the ONLY car make that ill ever purchase

  • Wow. Just saw it on TV. That's a work of art. Thanks in no small part to the brilliant Mr. Charles, but a fabulous creation in every respect. Reminds me of an ad I saw for Apple computers back in the 80s featuring Thomas Edison and other famous inventors. It made me spend my last few bucks on an Apple computer (never regretted it). Class act, Chevy!

  • Pretty sure Chevy just ripped off DEARPHOTOGRAPH.

  • @pweeeeencess 100% right.

    dearphotographdotcom

  • @pweeeeencess yep. it would appear so.

  • great commercial. i'm sure folks have been doing the picture in picture thing for a long time, but I first encountered it at Dear Photograph. not sure if the idea was borrowed or if that's where the idea was borrowed from, but regardless, hat tip is in order: dearphotograph

I'm not affiliated with the site in any way, similarity just struck me.

  • Have had at least one incarnation of the Monte Carlo in my driveway since I was 16 (22 years now). Love my Chevy's.

  • One of the best commercials of all-time, and I've seen a ton of them in 48 years.

  • ON TO RHE CORVETTE C7

  • Awsome video; and thanks to Chevy and GM for making vehicles i'll continue to buy.

  • Chevy FTW!

    Domestic Dominance!

  • i love chevy's

  • great commercial!!!

  • I love this! I especially love two of the people in it! ;) Great work, Chevrolet!

  • im a mopar guy, but i liked this commercial! it was cool to see that Chevrolet incorporated all the old photos to show the history. GO AMERICAN AUTOMAKERS! :)

  • gave me goose bumps. Good work, Chevy!

  • Nothing but a chevy ever for me.

  • needs more chevelle/malibu

  • It's to sad to watch, the golden years have passed

  • Nice ad.

  • Awesome

  • My parents' wedding car was the '64 Chevy Impala.
