  • who bited your john lennon photo

  • i love the white album the best album ever

  • LOL Freep......ussy

    im stil laughing sorry

  • Love your work! You are a fun Beatle-tard. I'm obsessed as well. Thanks for your reviews!

  • What's "sibilance"?

  • Lol! Funny you are! And I know what you mean about how they made REAL albums back in the day. Better, original rock covers; not people trying to look sexy.

  • To be fair, when you say "these are through my studio monitors with no EQ"... well, except for the sound filter applied by recording through a mic, the ADC on your sound card, then the processing Youtube does, the DAC on my sound card and whatever amp-speaker chain I'm listening through. :P

  • @Username93611 i was referring to what i was hearing, but i guess you have a point. anyone who looks to a guy on youtube for the final word on the remasters deserves whatever they get. ;P

  • @Username93611 I should have clarified that "I'M hearing/judging them thru my studio monitors.." etc.

  • @johnmontagnamusic

I got it. Just being my usual smartass self. Keep on with your groovy self.

  • 4.15 ...its all perspective right ? I always took the green apple to be ONE HALF {showing the skin } ....and the white apple the other of course. How much more beatle nerdy can you get - debating your perception ....ah...thats life , aint it .

  • Great stuff!

  • I agree they are all aweomse,, they breath.. even on my midrange quality sennheiser headphone.. I really hear it's much more open..

  • I believe the outside of the 2009 disc package is technically referred to as the O-card.

  • i have the argentinian version of the withe album and they don´t have the poster

  • This version actually got me back into Vinyl strangely enough. Get the DMM version John. It'll blow you away especially Monkey.

  • I OWN ONE OF THOSE 30TH ann 97 RE-PRINT GOT IT FOR $14 BUCKS :D

  • @CakeS2k I got one for $1 from a garage sale !;D

  • Just got the White for x-mas it is without a doubt my fave album of all time!!!

P:S when are you reviewing Sgt Peppers?

  • I've never listened to a full Beatles song on purpose, ever.

    (Target painted on my back)

  • LMFAO Freep Ussy!! U R Frickin Hilarious

  • Are you really Judd Nelson?

  • @a68rebel if i were judd nelson, would i be making youtube videos in my living room? honestly.

  • Haha!

    "Freep" Lawl xD

  • i got the album and i have the giveaway paul

  • great BASS,great playing,great reviews!hang in there,and keep it up.

  • The White album remastered sounds the same... I can't tell te difference!

However, your Rubber Soul renaster sounds really goooooooooood!!!

  • cool review just got mine :)

  • When I saw your poster, I double checked to see if I had gotten one because I did not remember seeing one. Turns out I didnt get one. Upon further research, the stereo box I got was a counterfeit from China. Closer inspection to the little CD cases, I found many spelling errors. Hopefully the sound quality is just as good, which i doubt.

  • I think the Beatles 1 cd sounds better than any of the remasters.

  • what size picks were you using on your bass? they sounded really thin. like .73 or .60

  • why the hell am i just now getting this in my subscriptions?

  • It's amazing what a little care in remastering, infinately beter a/d converters and twenty two years of listening to crappy sounding reproductions will do to a classic album. Love the 2009 remasters.

  • the white album is my fav album of the beatles n i was wonderin wat ur fav song is on the white album. mine is Helter Skelter

  • hey you should compare the drum solo in "The End"

  • dude youre halariuse when r undoing your next video

  • Were there any individual photos of the Beatles in the unwieldly dual CD boxes and was there a poster, too?

  • Ive got a reprint vinyl copy also. Mine is on white plastic and came with that delicious poster/ 4 pictures of the group. Great stuff, a one of a kind album.

  • beatles

  • awesome AWESOME review!

  • I just got my copy of the remaster of the White Album and so far I love It :D. I did find a way to avoid having your discs scratch in in the digipacks which is nice. All you need to do is get a pack of paper cd sleeves (they sell them at Walgreens for like 2 bucks for 30 of them. Then you just cut the part that folds down off and they should slide right in with their own protective sleeves :D

  • I believe this ( White Album) review is the BEST review I have ever seen or heard. Love the fact that John made the ( White Album) poster look like his baby. Also love the comparisons with the album's reissues and everything. Love this review, thanks John.Peace and love.

  • jajaja

  • i'm a new beatles fan so i won't be comparing the sound of the remasters with the original ones.

    great video ! =)

  • I want that copy of the White Album, it shines D:

  • exactlly try downloading that! well said my man

  • john, why are you so awesome?!?

  • Do Magical Mystery Tour for all us druggies

  • Is that bass a Höfner?

  • it's a hofner copy made by "carlo robelli."

  • @johnmontagnamusic you are very funny when you say ohh look this little poster

  • I can't believe the handful of people that are saying they don't sound that good. Some guy posted to take the 87 discs and increase the bass. What are they listening to? These sound so good, I have been geeking out over both mono and stereo since September and have not listened to much else except the new Flamming Lips. Nothing else sounds good right now.

  • I totally agree with this review...It has a new well rounded and robust sound to it. Don't we all agree that this album has always deserved this treatment?

  • i have a doubt, do the Stereo cds have the Dvd's (individually)?

  • yess,

  • @RobachicosX yes

  • i got my white album yesterday, and man! its remastered! You can here the stereo perfectly on songs like why don't we do it in the road, and the bass is much more deep

  • hey john i have a question i own the unwieldy double box white album mine did not have a poster in nor did it have the serial number on the front of the box is that normal?

  • i think so.

  • I just happen to know that mr. Freep. XD He got mad because a lot of name he tried signing in didn'rw because they were busy so he got mad and just wrote that name unbelieving!

  • I have a copy and I can confirm that it is. The poster is kinda there though, it's choped up and put on the pages of the lyric book.

  • only the original 60s one have the serial number

  • Very good video's! I have a question. Or two:

    1. Whats your favorite Beatles album?

    2. Whats your favorite Beatles song?

    And then the last one:

    3. Whats your favorite Beatle?

    I guess Macca: THE BASS!!!

  • great review. straightforward and entertaining.

  • John,

Love your reviews, this one and Help with your baby are my favs. You should do one for EVERY album. Keep up the good work!

I'm buying them one by one, I need 6 more to compleat my collection. Although I have them all on vinyl, the extra photos in the remasters are nice.

  • You are so funny when you do these simple reviews! AWESOME STUFF MAN!

  • Great mate, thanks!

  • I like your bass its cool ill be getting a hofner 4 my birthday

  • I'm pissed, I shouldn't have bought the white album and revolver by themselves, I mean, they still kick major ass, but man it cost alot more to buy them seperatley, I want to buy the box set.

  • BEST ALBUM REVIEWS EVER!

  • Thank you for your video reviews. For me the new Beatles Edition sounds worst than "Love" or even "Yellow Submarine" Soundtrack. Apple have taken a step backward at the time of not remixing the songs, just remastering. What do you think?, would you make a video comparing I Am the Walrus or A Day in the Life?. Thank you for your ideas.

  • I'm gonna try a "white album BIG poster" download!

  • Great review. You do great reviews. Like the Revolver one to. And your a great player. Lovely Yer Blues cover.

  • Freepussy at 17:00? I know who that is!!!!

  • hofner bass' really are the best arent they :P

  • Do you think for your next individual review that you do do Sgt. Pepper, I would love to hear your opinion on the new remaster and how it holds up to the old one. I really enjoy your album reviews :D

  • really great review m8,your a natural on the camera,i rarely watch entire reviews as i get bored easily but with u its different.

  • I thinks its amazing on how many copies were made of a single record on vinyl. So many differant copies.

  • John, I like your comment "the music has been in a glass box and is finally able to breathe." I couldn't describe them any better myself. I also intend on stealing your line as a way to describe them to everyone I know, sorry.

  • i actually stole it from rolling stone magazine, so there we are.

  • How lucky were you pulling the re-mastered cd's out?

  • Dear John, have you heard the mono set? Why did you choose the stereo? Do you recommend the stereo box instead of the mono box + the 3 missing albums in stereo? I'm still struggling with this! Thank you :)

  • John - I'm SO glad I found your Beatles reviews. I now have something else to watch when the Mets are losing. Love the JPM serial number at the end - nice touch.

    MIKE

  • great.. fun!

  • Another funny & informative review John, Thanks again... LuRving listening to ur Beatle Talk.

    Helter Skelter re-mastered is awesome!

  • I'm still self - persuading myself to purchase The White Album. My reluctance to do so stems from my disappointment with the remastered Walls and Bridges and Mind Games albums. For example, #9 Dream sounds thinner and less atmospheric, while Tight As has lost its bank of guitars sound. Your review here has been very helpful especially playing and comparing the original, 1987 and the 2009 productions. The differences are obvious on first hearing - thanks very much.

  • Awesome. BTW put some flatwounds on that bass!!!!

  • the tuning pegs on that bass are too small to hold flats! (tried it, didn't work.) the strings on there came with the bass, so they're at least 7 years old. got flats on my fretless though (check out my "yer blues" vid).

  • Hilarious. Perfect.

  • Thanks for the review!!!

  • Dude, we both have the same Beatle-habit!

  • Hey! You look like Ringo Starr! Hahahahah, you look like him in his 1969 era, hahahahah!

  • Literally LOLed at 2:06.

    Great review!

  • nice höfner bass and good review

pls do an other one :D your the only good review

  • You are the man. Fantastic review. I tip my hat to you sir....

  • Hi Please do some more reviews. I so Enjoyed this one. Thank you so so much. Mark (Great Britain)

  • Wow! I just stumpbled upon this video and am now a fan. Great channel, sir!

  • aha me too

  • oh wow guy you look like the guy from the breakfast club lol that was a movie from the 80's

  • Another entertaining review. You are a natural. Yes post more Beatles reviews & any album you care to do cos your faces/voices & opinions are a crack up mate!!!!!!!!!!! King of Punk London England!

  • More!!!! please!! you rock dude.

  • OMG

I love you, you crazy beautiful pepper

You better keep posting the rest of the albums!

  • I don't know if I'd call the panning "harsh" but in headphones, it's quite pronounced and nothing like what I hear on just about any rock album 10 years later on.

Fun reviews John. Almost as fun as the actual purchasing experience. ;)

  • Keep going. This is more cogent than the first review. In general I'm hearing more bass on the remasters and that can only be for the better. McCartney is a brilliant bassist and so much of their sound was due to his bass "compositions."

  • did you get the beatles rockband

  • keep going

  • I hope you keep doing these. Finish what you started. It's quite good.

  • i understand the '87 CDs had harsh panning..is it just as bad in the new remasters or has it slightly improved? i know they're not remixed, just remastered (i.e. polished, clean sound etc), but i still like to know. thanks

  • You are my new hero.....

Would Love to hear your take on The Rutles.

    Voltage

  • rutles are genius! had the vinyl LP when i was in kindergarten.

  • I caught a Neil Innes show at the Coach House SoCal. Got to meet him as well. Love the Rutles. You went to performing arts school with my niece Lily Tedeschi. She sent me your very fab very gear review on the remastered Beatles. I am a career bass player. Relate to your passion. Thanks for the excellent review and the courteous reply. Ron Gallagher

  • Ahaa!

    I love how you

    miss pronounce names!

    Make more

    i subcribedd:P

  • your amazing man

  • John, I'm honored that you would take note of my comment. But seriously, listen again to the line "starched white shirtSSSS" on the remaster.

Then take a listen to "wild honey pie". Do you really not hear the 5 to 7k screeching accompanying each vocal line?

Those are just the two most egregious examples of what I consider bad EQing on the album.

By the way, MY vinyl copy of the white album is embossed. It's still the best sounding copy I own.

    Cheers,

    diezungen

  • Another great review! :) Got my mono box a few days ago, and gotta say it´s pretty wild! There are a lot of minor "tweaks" compared to the stereo versions.

Anyhow hope you´ll do more reviews of the stereo ones, since I haven´t got the money to buy both boxes :)
