  • this was my phone before i got samsung galaxy s2 baby

  • my phone's lasts a month hahahahaha

  • the harder you press on the dpad the faster the scrolling is. :)

  • can i get that phone but not have to get internet on it ? plz reply

  • @iModd3riHD I think so, but you'd have to ask AT&T - it's up to them, unless you buy it used.

    - Jason

  • someone did, but i don't think they had the data plan. because they were getting charged for a lot of other things. but i have the data plan. Thank You!!

  • If I have the data plan does it charge to get on facebook? Great review!!

  • @steppenouthot93 No, if you have a data plan, there are no additional charges. Did someone tell you Facebook charged people to use it?

    - Jason

  • Wow u talk wayyyy to much. Get to the point

  • Great review your made for speaking....

  • what;s up with the privacy shield?

  • @Zaebolista It's pretty self-explanatory...I didn't want to share phone numbers or email addresses of real people I know with YouTube viewers, so I hid the information.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia ah, ok.

  • its a turbo scroller. u have to hold it down hard n then its gonna move up or down faster

  • Sooo, I'm confused. It has wifi but it has 3g too? Can you connect to the internet via the mobile network or do you have to be covered by wifi?

  • @nathan949494 You can connect via either one, whenever you want - presuming, of course, that you're within range of a WiFi network. It's no different than any other phone out there.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia thx! i just got that phone today, its great. especially considering that my previous phone was a cheap pre-paid lol

  • @ThoughtsMedia So if say for instance, my mom took the web off, so I can't get on internet or send picture messages, but I still have wi-fi... can I still get on the internet through wi-fi or still I need to purchase the data plan.

  • why would you compare a dslr camera to a phone's camera? >.<

  • @VegasBoy65 I was framing the context of my comment that I don't think the camera is very good - I don't think ANY phone camera is very good - because I'm spoiled by my DSLRs. To some people who only use point and shoot cameras, they might think the camera on this is good.

    - Jason

  • Hi.I just got this phone today from a friend. Does AT&T MAKE you get the unlimited internet and such. we have the unlimited text and thats all. Thanks.

  • 2 questions:

currently i am on the at&t's gophone network & would like to know if i can swap my sim card into this phone & it still work if i have unlimited talk, text & web?

    & can i access youtube?

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

  • @unyversalone Those are questions for an AT&T rep...go to your local AT&T store and ask them. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia i thought about that & was in the store yesterday to pay my bill & did ask & i got neither a yes or no answer. they were very vague & referred me to the customer service line which i knew they would considering the unlimited everything package is more than $80 w/a contract & they would essentially be losing money. the question was more so for a at&t user that possibly has done it before. thanks anyways.

  • @unyversalone Ah, I see. Well, I'm in Canada and so am not an AT&T customer; I used a phone that was SIM-unlocked. So I think you need to find a forum with AT&T customers that you can ask...

    - Jason

  • @unyversalone Yes you can. I plan on buying this or the Nokia E71 and a gophone too

  • Hey, I will be getting this phone SOON, just because of this review from Bell. And just one question, is there voice command?

  • @omgthatissocool I honestly don't recall...I reviewed this nine months ago, so the memory is a bit hazy. :-) I'm sure other reviews you can find online will tell you if it had voice command.

    - Jason

  • Hi Jason . I have some questions for you. What if i want to use internet via wi fi? can i just connect in every place with wi fi? And what about the apps... if I install Facebook mobile (for example), can i use it with both via 3g and wi fi or just with one? And which phone would you say is better the jack or the htc snap? Thanks

  • @Carlos10G Yes, you can use WiFi to load data on any app you want - I've never seen a recent app that cares how it gets its data. I think the HTC Snap is probably a better overall phone, but this one is pretty nice as well.

    - Jason

  • If you add unlimited browsing instead of a data plan what would be the difference?

  • Does the office reader works well, any complains, why? -Thanks

  • Hi, Jason I have a question. So once you are connected to wi-fi, how do you enter the webpage? Is it okay to open via internet explorer? I am not on a data plan.

    thanks!

  • You'd open up Internet Explorer Mobile, and type the URL into the address bar.

    - Jason

  • Hey, I have a question.

I got the newest Samsung jack. My neighbor gave it to me. It works fine and its great. I have Wi Fi. If i use Wi fi is it free? My plan is just unlimited texting and some mins. If i connect my wi fi to my router can i have free internet?

  • That question has been asked right below this one - why not spend a few seconds scanning the Q&A and see if yours has been answered before commenting? :-)

    - Jason

  • So im guesting its free? Also once i connect my phone to the router how do i set it so i can use wi fi instead of 3G.

  • flash support? like how's this phone for video sites?

  • No and nope. This is not the phone you want for video sites. In fact, there's really no phone out there today that's delivering great Flash video experiences that I can think of...

    - Jason

  • does this phone require a data plan??

  • @CristoSwankz Yes

  • It doesn't "require" a data plan - you can use it without one - but AT&T might only sell you one with a data plan. It's always up to AT&T. You can try to find one used though...

    - Jason

  • Do youtube videos work good with the wifi and at&ts 3g?

  • I have a BJII. There are a couple of reasons I may upgrade to this phone.

    1. Wifi.

    2. Upgrade to 6.5 will be available.

    3. The scroll wheel on my BJII is great, but at nearly 2 yrs now, it's starting to give me problems and not work as good.

    4. Upgraded internal hw.

Since I like my BJII so much, it seems like it would honestly make more practical sense to upgrade to this phone.

  • lmao i like the privicy sheild

  • i have the jack and the accelerated scroll feature is actually pretty cool. if u barely press down the screen scrolls slow. if u push down harder, it flys through the page

  • will this phone work through bell?

  • No. Bell is a CDMA carrier. This is a GSM phone.

    - Jason

  • if i use wi-fi internet...will it charge me?

  • No, it won't.

    - Jason

  • The "turbo scroll" is supposed to work by pressure. Meaning that the harder you push on the d-pad the faster is should scroll through the page

  • I have purchased the Facade theme for this phone and I loved it. I liked it better than the original themes that comes with the device.

  • loved the phone until it decided to start freezing on me today.

  • need a data plan for this phone?

  • awesome review jason! is this your primary phone?

im thinking of purchasing a jack, just a quick gps question

1.) can you use the gps without a data plan? i've found a modaco gps hack but im not sure if it enables stand-alone gps or if it is compatible with the jack.

cheers -- keep up the fabulous work, we're very appreciative.

  • No, I had to send it back to AT&T. You can use the GPS without a data plan, but of course you can't get downloaded maps and whatnot real-time. You'd have to use it with a traditional GSP program where maps are pre-loaded.

    - Jason

  • i really like this phone but i read a lot of reviews on this phone and a lot of ppl brought up that it freezes alot. i had the samsung blackjack II for almost a year and it started to freeze until it didnt work anymore. it was very frustrating and i dont think i can handle another phone that freezes. could you help me out? or anyone else that has this phone? thank you :)

  • I used this phone full time for a month and didn't experience a single free - so there's nothing wrong with the phone. If you load it up with lots of software, sometimes that software might screw things up...

    - Jason

  • okay, i was wondering with this phone do you have to get a data plan, or like a blackberry plan with it when you buy this phone? because i really like this phone, i just don't want to use the internet or anything on it. Thanks:)

  • You'd have to ask someone that works for AT&T, but I'd be surprised if they forced you to get a data plan if you say you didn't want it.

    - Jason

  • Haha, Alright thank you anyways:)

  • I just got this phone as a replacement on my insurance. Great phone. Free upgrade to WinMo 6.5

  • About the fast scroling, if you press the D Pad harder, it will scroll faster. I hoticed noticed 3 diferent speed when surfing on the web.

  • How much is internet

  • I have this phone and wanted to know how did you get the name "Rogers" above the time on the phone?

  • Do you not see my response to the same question a few posts below this one...? :-)

    - Jason

  • My fault, I really dont read all comments posted, sorry for asking.

  • can it do videos

  • I lik this phone a LOT

  • I have a Samsung Code on MetroPCS

How did you put "ROGERS" on the top left corner in the time panel??

  • I put in my Rogers SIM, and it went onto the Rogers network. No mystery. :-)

    - Jason

  • I need help with voice mail set up can someone please help me?

  • can you set a ringtone for text messages? thats really all i do, other than web, on my cellphone. and i was wonder if you can do this on the jack.

  • yeah, to use the turbo scroll feature you have to press down or up harder than usual. i used to have a bj2 before i got my jack and frankly i prefer the turbo scroll to the scroll wheel but that's just me

  • to use the "turbo scrolling" press down/up (left and right doesnt work) press it harder than usual.. it will work

  • Hey I'm thinking about getting this phone but I wasn't sure if I would be able to have certain ring tones for certain contacts and what format would they have to be? Thanks

  • Yes, you can have specific ring tones per contact - the format is, I believe, WAV or WMA format. Possibly MP3...

    - Jason

  • I just checked, Samsung is supporting WinMo 6.5 for the Jack

  • Turbo scroll is used in the adress book, very long web pages, or other LENGTHY list you have to get to the bottom

  • can you put your own photo as a wallpaper?

  • Yes, you definitely can.

    - Jason

  • so would you recommend this phone over the nikia e71x? do they make apps for the samsung jack? thank you

  • Yes, they make apps for the Jack. As for the Nokia, I've never used it, so I can't comment on it.

    - Jason

  • can you tell me some cool applications for this devise, I have it factory settings and need to put something new on it and I know is capable of handle special apps... is very good phone but with touchscrrens it doesnt get attention :(

  • Iphone> Samsung Jack

  • to the "turbo" scrolling. you would have to press the d pad a little but harder than usually. it can also work in messaging as well

  • does the wifi work well?

  • It connects, and doesn't disconnect randomly, so to me that's WiFi working "well". :-)

    - Jason

  • what are all the colors of the indicator lights and what do they mean??

  • I don't recall - there's one colour for new email/text (I think purple), one for charging, etc.

    - Jason

  • can't you download internet explorer 6 onto the phone later on?

  • No, you can't. IE Mobile isn't available for download. There are other browsers though that you can get...

    - Jason

  • Hi, I have a few questions, I can use it to transmit video with qik and use fring?Thank you good day good video congratulations

  • I'm not sure - if Qik and Fring have Windows Mobile Standard software, yes. If not, no. :-)

    - Jason

  • privacy shield

  • Can you review another Samsung phone??? Can you review the Samsung Reclaim?? :-) Please, Thanks!!!

  • I only review Windows Mobile phones. Sorry. :-)

    - Jason

  • What about a Motorola Q9 Review :)

  • If Motorola releases a new Q9 and I can get my hands on one, sure, I'll take a look at it.

    - Jason

  • what the d pad does is when u push it slightly it goes slow and when u push it fast it goes fast so its sensitive

  • But when you hold it down all the way, it doesn't go any faster than any other Windows Mobile phone, so that's a pretty stupid feature. The scroll wheel on the Blackjack II allowed you to navigate much faster - so the Jack is worse in that regard.

    - Jason

  • Try saying "Smart phone thoughts" 5 times fast, lol. Nice review.

  • Does the Privacy Shield come in the package ? :P

    nice review 5 stars

  • That "Privacy Shield" was epic haha.

Great review Jason. Keep em coming.

  • Glad you liked that - I didn't realize when I was filming that as I toggled between email accounts I exposed someone's email address...so up went the privacy shield. ;-)

    - Jason

  • what phone and network do you have

  • I'm in Canada, so I'm with Rogers (a GSM network provider). As for what phone I have, well, that depends on what week you ask me. :-) I sent this Jack back to to AT&T, so I'm back to using my "official" Rogers phone, a Samsung Jack which is really a Blackjack II (watch my AT&T Jack unboxing video to understand that statement).

    - Jason

  • haha

  • Nice review, keep up the good work. :)
