  • holy shit!! lol.. is it just me or does Ed look a helluva lot like Chester from Linkin Park in this vid? maybe it's the shaved hair and glasses lol.

  • Ed looks terrible with a beard....Chad was very handsome back then.

  • LiVE, Pearl Jam and Nirvana all sounded the same: rebellious, angry and socialists! But LiVE stood out of the rat pack and still good today =)

  • Old school Live! This video is awesome. It's cool to see how much they've changed physically and vocally since then. Great vid!

  • Ed and Chad are amazing.. I love Live so much.. great songs..

  • That song Iris kicks ass, i wish they still play that song during a live performance

  • well, actually they play it a lot at shows recently. and I agree, that song kicks major ass!

  • really? that's cool. When i saw them, they brought back the Mirror Song

  • yeah, they played it on the 30 june show in Amsterdam when I was there, you can watch in october when it will be released on their first live DVD that was filmed over there

  • ED and Chad mentioned the likes of Grunge bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana, the funny thing is...LiVE really got the ball rolling in the early 1990s, in 1991, U2 AND R.E.M made collee rock or alternative a possible music genre...then when mental jewelery came out....LiVE set the standard ....good rock songs with a deep alternative appeal, its only obvious Pearl Jam and others would soon follow...so whos really the influence? LiVE or Pearl JAM ?

  • In terms of the early 90s, we got:

    Facelift released 08/90

    Uncle Anesthesia released 01/91

    Gish released 05/91

Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge released 07/91

    Ten released 08/91

    Nevermind released 09/91

    Badmotorfinger released 10/91

    Mental Jewlery released 12/91

You're splittin' hairs on the "who made who" front. They were all bands with the same core of influences: Zeppelin, Sabbath, REM, Pixies, Stooges, Beatles, Sonic Youth, The Cure, Alice Cooper, Replacements, Ramones...

  • Unfortunately for LiVE, since they broke the mainstream charts after Soundgarden, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, and The Smashing Pumpkins, they were accused of being posers cashing in on a trend and imitating REM specifically (even though the REM part's kinda true).

Ironically, Pearl Jam and Nirvana were initially criticised for the same thing (ESPECIALLY Pearl Jam). Hell, Steve Albini dismissed Nirvana as "REM with a fuzz box".

  • thanks for posting! :)
