  • why are they even trying to make hybrids and electric cars ? When a normal diesel engine can run on vegetable oil. Fuck logic lets make cars more expensive

  • mr. Clarkson has humor, but is a fossile amongst carjournalists. he seems to sefuse to accept that Toyota doesn't work the way he tries to tell us. why not asking a Toyota-engineer in Top Gear to explain how a Prius is beeing build. Why not a trip to a Prius factory to see what the production of a Prius is all about and than go to Wolfsburg to compare the factorypollution. It will be an amazinging experience, I can assure you!

  • Acid rain comes from other processes, not nickel mining !

  • @zaco21 wrong! it's easily proven by many other videos that acid rain does come from nickel mining.

  • @mkdaisgory Wrong! What kind of argument is that? Videos? You can prove anything you want in videos! You don't know anything now do you? Do some research and then we will talk. Nickel mining itself isn't producing acid rain but nickel processing...that's another problem. Like i said, acid rain comes from other processes, not nickel mining and those processes can be controlled so we won't pollute the environment!

  • @zaco21 then search up on the internet does nickel mining pollute and you should find my answer.

  • @mkdaisgory You don't get it! Nickel processing pollutes and creates acid rain! I searched the internet and I found people like you who don't know what they are doing or saying or people who made those videos that you claim that link nickel mining to acid rains!! They associate nickel mining with nickel processing. Your answer is undocumented.

  • All the cars have batteries! There are other sources for nickel, not only Canada. The guys who made those studies don't now the reality!

  • There are better hybrids then the Prius! Hybrid technology does actually work.

  • "Is Prius really green?" No. It's white.

  • i like top gear but man stick to cars...cause you couldnt be more wrong about what you said here...

  • @everydayidiealilmore nah actually everything he said can be backed up by many diffrent people with common sense...

  • @mkdaisgory What you called "common sense" and reality are 2 different things! Those people that you think have common sense don't have it! In fact all the nickel mining and refining can be done in Indonesia or Russia and China! It's a lot cheaper this way! Studies and unreliable documentation can be made with the results that the customer (the sponsor of the study) wants!

  • Honestly, just google Prius myth and then come back saying the Prius is bad for the environment.

  • I own the episode this came off of. It is less fuel efficient than an 8 cylinder BMW. I laugh every time I see people driving around in these. It's obvious they buy into the hype that they are saving something and helping the Earth, when they are really just helping destroy it unnecessarily.

  • It's pronounced Pree-uhs first of all.

Second of all, the study developed by CNW stating all that pollution nonsense was easily debunked by many sources. Google Prius myth if you want the truth.

Now to address some things. People looooove to say how the Prius uses tons of energy and emits a lot of carbon in its shipping process. Have ANY of you ever heard of globalizaiton? Honestly, it's as if everyone imagines that every car in the world gets its parts from the same land. They ship them. -.-

  • Prius is pronounced Pry-uhs in the UK.

  • No one said other cars are green or that they don't require shipping, but Prius' huge battery adds another step to both the transportation and manifacturing of material which other cars do not have.

Now you can either support Nickel production or buy a very fuel efficient car that is not hybrid.

Hybrid has potential but it has not yet reached it... not even close. And Prius is the pinnacle of ugliness and uselessness.

  • Everything you said was opinion and not fact. Nice one.

  • @ooooeeeeooooeeee In this video all Jeremy is showing is the shipments etc of the batery materials, ofc the other parts and bits are shipped too, but its not much differance from the normal cars. Since the battery is the part of the Toyota that makes it "green", this is a good argument that TopGear points out.

  • Problem is with that test, the bmw is reving nice and low while the Prius is reving really high.

The correct way to do this test would be to put the bmw in 3rd gear or even 2nd and then lets see the mpg.

I laugh....at the very few times I have to put fuel in my car AND the $25 it costs to drive 1000kms.

  • The correct way wouldn'tve supported Clarkson's argument. And Top Gear isn't exactly about being correct.

  • True. Infact, I think top gear is the replacement of saturday morning cartoons.

BTW, they might say it like pry-uhs, but the REAL way is PrEus. Toyota themselves have corrected clarkson.

  • @SilentPerceiver

Not really, hybrid technology actually works. An 8 cylinder BMW is more fuel efficient only when it's driving the BMW is driving under 40 km/h and the Prius driving faster!
