I've read four translations of the koran now.
I read the first out of curiosity, having seen it described as a magnificent tome, standing, as equal, amongst the great literary works of all time.
It was, in those terms, a disappointment.
Thinking I had a bad copy, I read others, but the theme remains constant and my considered opinion is that mohammad was no more and no less than a devious scheming arab with a very basic plan that turned out to be quite brilliant, but counterfeit nontheless.

Religion 'as a whole' should be forgotten, as its destroying our human rights to be free. For every day you sit and prey to this 'so called god' your giving your freedom away to lies.

Lets take one of your points."Belief in afterlife one God". You do realize that God is nothing more then a man made construed law to keep people in line. If you look to God, you look at nothing else. Religion has done good as well as bad, but people like you seem to focus on the negative, which is why I pity people like you. My personal belief? I don't have any, but I see the positives in religion-I don't see the extremists. I see the faith it brings to people, the good it has people do, the help it gives.

It is hard to debate on this, I'm afraid. It all comes down to our beliefs. :) I respect yours as I used to be skeptical and mistrusting toward it. I just use this quote I found, "Life is an illusion, but death is the reality." We will never know who's lying and who isn't.

This applies to all religion, as religion does not provide peace in our lives, though many like to believe it does.
Same to those who believe money is the system we should use, just like those who believe countries is their to protect us and that government is a protection to our well being. The world would not work without order and money. Think about it, unfortunately greed that comes from money does exist..but so does order, yes there are many down sides with money and I hate what it does to people, but without it it..I just can't imagine what kind of world we'd be in, it'll be like Kendermore but with humans. Yuck.
Read Towing Jehovah by James Morrow, it's very interesting about the concept of religion and what people would do without it.

No the world would work without money and order, just we are so caught up in the belief its here to help we believe it is.
Remember the old days, a service for a service.
Same with religion, religion is so wound into the foundation with life as we know it, its hard to imagine it without. Still its very presence disrupts our freedoms in life, same as how every country is separate. This dates back hundreds of thousands of years, many people really would not comprehend how complex this is.

So for Police to say that Channel 4 was some how picking on this community and making them out to be adding to extremist activity is all wrong? I feel that rights in which allow Muslims Free Speech(and any other religious or outgoing speaker, is getting out of hand)Now white people and other races are at risk of threat, not Muslims.
