Before the movie: Well that was a nice tune. This movie can't be that scary. It's probably just a comedy flick with a monster who makes everyone laugh.
After the movie: Jesus Christ that was scary. I'll need to buy tons of ice and fire extinguishers before I'll ever feel safe again.
I was watching this movie, and I heard this, looked at my brother and laughed. He said that it was the scariest part so far. AT the end, they froze the blob and sent it to the north pole or something, saying: "I hope the arctic stays cold!" OOPS.
I just love this movie! Its the best!!! The opening song made the most great coverup for the real movie theme...... :) hope everyone enjoys the feature!!!
We started singing another version for our puppy. "Beware of the dog, he creeps, he crawls, he craps and cries, and then he goes and bites your knees and thighs and then he pees upon your clothes - be careful of the dog!"
Yeah... I guess I'll just ah, watch out for that... :\ Doesn't seem so urgent, just kind of a, 'oh, you might wanna look out. blob 'round the corner.' 'okay thanks jim.' Very unfitting.
La primera vez que vi esta película estaba tan asustado que me pasé todo el tiempo debajo de la cama de mis padres. De la música (extrañamente alegre y pegajosa) no me acordaba.
I used to be so freaked out by this song when I was a kid , but at the same time I was so freaking obsessed with it , and the movie! I was a weird kid. Also I thought the singers were Oompa Loompas singing it! LOL.
This music leaves me with the impression that the Blob's a suave, fun-loving guy who'd stop eating towns if you just got him a cigarette and a nice cocktail.
@serendipity4212 Amen to that brother. That theme was cool and this movie was in a small town in the 80's surrounded by one monster. Killer Clowns from outerspace is similar. check out killer clowns, if you like the blob you won't be disappointed.
I can't believe other people like the song as much as me that I can even find it on here, so fucking sweet. It may be one of the greatest songs of all time especially in a horror movie and I'm going to start a band just to do a cover of it.
This scared the heck outta me as a kid. Watch this with an open mind and this is why the blob made it to the 80's and even to the 2000's in monsters inc. Ever think that what if this just happened?? To that its said that if the blob came to our present day, in the old movie because it references the melting antartica. Once our ice melt this blobs gonna eat all of us! good luck folks!!
@huzzah012 Ok very funny. But think about it man, it was like 30 some years ago and they even stated that as long as the polar ice caps don't melt we are safe. I get the feel we knew something was up back then. But let the Blob run wild!! yeah!!
it creeps and leaps and glides and slides across the floor/right through the door and all around the wall/a splotch a blotch *pop* beware of the blob!
I'm glad to see others were emotionally scarred by this as children... well from a "not the only one" perspective, not liking to see others suffer. As a teen I rewatched and had nightmares. When I saw the remake at age 22, it *still* shook me. haha It *is* a classic, though. :)
the 88 one sucks they just tried to make it scary and all they should make a remake of this but actually try to have a story line horro movies suck now cuz theirs no suspens
Perhaps I phrased that wrong. The 88 one is NOT a classic. The original is. The 88 one wouldn't have gotten to me if it were not for the first one. I agree it was quite lame.
When I watched this movie a few days ago I was rapping my two index fingers in time to the music and I looked out my window. The trees outside were also swaying nearly in tune.
First horror movie I ever saw...was about 6 or 7. I was scared for months after seeing it. Then a few years later watched it again. Scared for months AGAIN.
always loved this song. it makes me want to put on capri pants, puff up my hair and dance. favorite part in the movie is when steve mcqueen is in the diner and the blob "jumps" onto it. they use a fire extinguisher to fight it!
They made another blob movie and I don't mean the remake in '88, it was made in the early 60's I believe. I saw it a couple times when I was really little on TV and never heard of it again, but I liked it because it was made kind of tongue and cheek and had some funny parts in it. I'll never forget the opening credits as it had this memorable quarky funny tune along with a kitten playing in the grass all through the opening credits which almost made you believe the movie was about this kitten.
I bought the Criterion Collection of this movie. One of the best ever made. Also, I think this is the scariest monster Hollywood has ever made. It can't be killed and loves the taste of humans, turning red from the blood of its victims. Used to scary the daylights out of me. My wife still can't watch it!
beware of the blob bitches, it creeps and leaps and glides and slides across the floor right through the door and all around the wall a splotch a blotch be careful of the blob...

@RockabillyAutopsy You just mihgt one day be very surprised to find out how to spell the name of the most successfull composer of the last 60 years.
You're in luck, because the man has hundreds of great songs and you just have no idea of the huge diversity there is among them.
Treat yourself well and you'll have enjoyment till you die -- and that's just listening to what he wrote in this century.
