  • I've never seen the blob leap.

  • Before the movie: Well that was a nice tune. This movie can't be that scary. It's probably just a comedy flick with a monster who makes everyone laugh.

After the movie: Jesus Christ that was scary. I'll need to buy tons of ice and fire extinguishers before I'll ever feel safe again.

  • This has got to be the same guy who did the theme to A Man Called Flintstone or Archie Bleyer, or maybe they're one in the same. Can anyone tell me?

  • Best song ever!

  • Mambo influences are present in this song.

  • y does it have to be so short i love it so much *pop*

  • Another melodic marvel from the

    genius Burt Bacharach!

Happy Halloween to everyone in youtube land and remember to watch out for

    THE BLOB!

  • i love this song it is so awesome!!!!!!

  • I can still picture Larry "Seymour" Vincent "singing" this on his Fright Night TV program.

  • My brothers and sisters used to watch this movie after our parents got on VHS circa 1984 and walk around the house singine this. LMAO!!

  • Can't stop watching this.

  • @SilverstreakBrony Even her shits are graceful!

  • @gamefreek41795 woah.. j- .. WOAH

  • i love this song!

  • My father usually had a tape of this playing in his car whenever he drove me anywhere.

    The ones I remember are..

    Killer Klowns from Outer Space

    The Blob

    and The Killer Tomatoes...

    Ah... good times...

  • back then, scary movies had joyful music to creep out the audience even more.

i mean, look at the Titanic movie for example. "joyful music boys..."

  • I was watching this movie, and I heard this, looked at my brother and laughed. He said that it was the scariest part so far. AT the end, they froze the blob and sent it to the north pole or something, saying: "I hope the arctic stays cold!" OOPS.

  • I just love this movie! Its the best!!! The opening song made the most great coverup for the real movie theme...... :) hope everyone enjoys the feature!!!

  • Awwww! i love this movie. The theme song is so catchy. brings back memories. :)

  • nice chilled out theme at the beginning.

  • I have a pet blob it eats a lot

  • umm? on IMDB, wikipedia, and just about everything else, its spelled Aneta Corsaut, but in this its spelled Corseaut, help?

  • We started singing another version for our puppy. "Beware of the dog, he creeps, he crawls, he craps and cries, and then he goes and bites your knees and thighs and then he pees upon your clothes - be careful of the dog!"

  • "Beware of the blob, it creeps and leaps and glides and slides onto your body and slowly eats you alive as you scream in pain and terror...."

  • The greatest science fiction/horror movie ever made!

  • @nik1969100 I hope to hell your joking.

  • ironico

  • love this song . thanx 4 posting!

  • This song took away the fear factor for me.

  • Cool it is so cool I like the background

  • all time greatest unfitting music :) yay!

  • and yet its a horror film.

  • best movie intro ever i suppose..

  • That song is not funny!

  • BEWARE OF THE BLOB IT LEAPS IT CREEPS SLIDES ACROSS THE FLOOR

  • @TheRealPyramid it eats it smokes weed BEWARE OF THE BLOB

  • lol james rolf

  • This has been stuck in my head all day. Not that I have a problem of that or anything.

  • "Be careful of the blob"

Yeah... I guess I'll just ah, watch out for that... :\ Doesn't seem so urgent, just kind of a, 'oh, you might wanna look out. blob 'round the corner.' 'okay thanks jim.' Very unfitting.

    *Pop!* :O

  • Unfitting music!

  • @MischiefMeerkat all time greatest unfitting music :)

  • This is one of my favorite movie themes to one of my favorite films of all time. Very catchy!

  • I was 6 the first time I saw this movie and the opening creeped me out big time

  • and to think this had steve mcqueen in it. lol beware of the blob

  • This song is so swingin'. I had to pinch myself when I learned who it was by. The only Burt Backache song I like.

  • @RockabillyAutopsy You just mihgt one day be very surprised to find out how to spell the name of the most successfull composer of the last 60 years.

You're in luck, because the man has hundreds of great songs and you just have no idea of the huge diversity there is among them.

Treat yourself well and you'll have enjoyment till you die -- and that's just listening to what he wrote in this century.

  • @lvmfah Thanks for trying to sell me on Burt Backache but I'm not a masochist.

  • I love that movie. I havent seen it in a long time haha i want both of them on dvd :)

  • too cool man. i mean like. far out. to the moon daddy-o.

  • This movie is awesome. I remember seeing the smoke of one of the film crews cigarette behind one of the actors.

It was so cheesy but I love old horror movies ! I find the black and white ones pretty scary.

  • La primera vez que vi esta película estaba tan asustado que me pasé todo el tiempo debajo de la cama de mis padres. De la música (extrañamente alegre y pegajosa) no me acordaba.

  • i love this song somehow

  • You can tell they were really having some fun with this movie.

  • more like a beachy little number this is.

  • This is Burts Mona Lisa

  • I used to be so freaked out by this song when I was a kid , but at the same time I was so freaking obsessed with it , and the movie! I was a weird kid. Also I thought the singers were Oompa Loompas singing it! LOL.

  • This music leaves me with the impression that the Blob's a suave, fun-loving guy who'd stop eating towns if you just got him a cigarette and a nice cocktail.

  • too fab!!!

  • This movie scared me soooo much when i was 5. Now I'm all like "FUCK YOU BLOB!!!"

  • Watching this movie for the first time and hearing this song made my day.

  • @serendipity4212 Amen to that brother. That theme was cool and this movie was in a small town in the 80's surrounded by one monster. Killer Clowns from outerspace is similar. check out killer clowns, if you like the blob you won't be disappointed.

  • @TheGames32 I love Killer Klowns from Outer Space!

  • Oh no! Look out lady it's the blob! Hang on! I'll save you!! (runs into TV)

  • Spanish group Liberacion made a badas remake of this song type in "la burbuja by Liberacion"

  • A rather upbeat opening for a horror movie.

  • U know, this could make a good Little Shop-styled musical

  • i'm so proud i saw this 50's movie

  • Dan Rucks Beware of The Blob, it creeps

And leaps and glides and slides

    Across the floor

    Right through the door

And all around the wall... See More

    A splotch, a blotch

    Be careful of The Blob

The little boy in the footed PJ's name was Danny

and did you know it was written by Burt Bachrach?!)

  • badass song for a badass alien thingy

  • I've seen this movie. It was so hilarious. I couldn't believe my sister was scared of it. Also, when and how does the blob ever leap??

  • @Trebgah maybe when it surrounds the diner, that could qualify as a leap.

  • AWESOME

  • I wonder how will look like the Rob Zombie's remake... It would be fun if he did a cover of this haha. Anyway, good song

  • I can't believe other people like the song as much as me that I can even find it on here, so fucking sweet. It may be one of the greatest songs of all time especially in a horror movie and I'm going to start a band just to do a cover of it.

  • Mcqueen's performance in this movie was great by any standard and makes the movie's stature grow with time.

  • our science teacher showed this to us. and we all memorized this song

  • one of my fav movies

  • This scared the heck outta me as a kid. Watch this with an open mind and this is why the blob made it to the 80's and even to the 2000's in monsters inc. Ever think that what if this just happened?? To that its said that if the blob came to our present day, in the old movie because it references the melting antartica. Once our ice melt this blobs gonna eat all of us! good luck folks!!

  • @TheGames32 this is the main reason that we should become eco-friendly, not to save the planet, but to keep us safe from the blob!

  • @huzzah012 Ok very funny. But think about it man, it was like 30 some years ago and they even stated that as long as the polar ice caps don't melt we are safe. I get the feel we knew something was up back then. But let the Blob run wild!! yeah!!

  • This song is weird.

  • B grade movie A grade Music !

  • I thought this movie was great from the opening credits!

  • love this song and thangs to GreatGarloo for writing the text

  • yeah!

    beware of the blob! *pop*

it creeps and leaps and glides and slides across the floor/right through the door and all around the wall/a splotch a blotch *pop* beware of the blob!

Criterion Collection dvd of The Blob!

  • Best horror film theme of all time. When i saw this the first time at 12, my brother and i looked at each other and laughed when this song came on.

  • i watched this and i'm a kid! :) it wasn't scary at the time but when i went to bed and turned the light off i was creeped out!

  • this movie scarred the crap out the me..

i dont know why but it was mind scarring

  • I'm glad to see others were emotionally scarred by this as children... well from a "not the only one" perspective, not liking to see others suffer. As a teen I rewatched and had nightmares. When I saw the remake at age 22, it *still* shook me. haha It *is* a classic, though. :)

  • the 88 one sucks they just tried to make it scary and all they should make a remake of this but actually try to have a story line horro movies suck now cuz theirs no suspens

  • Perhaps I phrased that wrong. The 88 one is NOT a classic. The original is. The 88 one wouldn't have gotten to me if it were not for the first one. I agree it was quite lame.

  • u can dance to this..it's a happy tune not scary at all lol

  • When I watched this movie a few days ago I was rapping my two index fingers in time to the music and I looked out my window. The trees outside were also swaying nearly in tune.

  • ooh the music is very scary!

  • this movie scared the crap out of my when i was a little kid but i love this movie

  • First horror movie I ever saw...was about 6 or 7. I was scared for months after seeing it. Then a few years later watched it again. Scared for months AGAIN.

  • Pretty cheerful song about a carnivorous slime that even the military is powerless against.

  • @NinjaGhostScorpion It was asked of Burt to write a cheery song because they felt the movie was too serious. It is funny, though!!

  • First horror movie I ever saw. I stayed away from cherry jello aftetr that.

  • The BEST MOVIE EVER

  • Sounds like you're attending clown or barber school. Good for you, dunce.

  • graphics???? Its not a video game!

    its:

VISUALS, Special Effects, Film Grain, Picture Quality, Not GRAPHICS!

  • You know what he ment :(

  • of course I did. I listed alternates, what he should have said. He said graphics when he meant Special Effects.

  • You know why? It was the fucking 50's! What do you expect?

  • always loved this song. it makes me want to put on capri pants, puff up my hair and dance. favorite part in the movie is when steve mcqueen is in the diner and the blob "jumps" onto it. they use a fire extinguisher to fight it!

  • I love that song!

  • They made another blob movie and I don't mean the remake in '88, it was made in the early 60's I believe. I saw it a couple times when I was really little on TV and never heard of it again, but I liked it because it was made kind of tongue and cheek and had some funny parts in it. I'll never forget the opening credits as it had this memorable quarky funny tune along with a kitten playing in the grass all through the opening credits which almost made you believe the movie was about this kitten.

  • "A 1972 comedy sequel entitled Beware! The Blob, directed by Larry Hagman"

  • Ah, thanks for that, didn't think it was made that late, but what does a little kid know?

  • I bought the Criterion Collection of this movie. One of the best ever made. Also, I think this is the scariest monster Hollywood has ever made. It can't be killed and loves the taste of humans, turning red from the blood of its victims. Used to scary the daylights out of me. My wife still can't watch it!

  • lmao I watched this when I was a tot and it STILL fucks me up. I had to lock my front door when I played this theme again x_x

I had nightmares for weeks. Vivid, mind-shaping ones. I have it on VHS now :)

  • Love this movie. I really do. Song's also great.

  • "Beware of the blob, it creeps and leaps and glides and slides...."

wow, I never knew death and terror had such a happy and catchy theme.

  • That's a better comment than I could have made! I love this tune.

  • best song ever

  • Come to Blobfest next week, July 11 in Phoenixville PA...big fun!

  • In Soviet Downingtown, the floor creeps and leaps and glides and slides across the blob!

  • Straingely upbeat for a horror film theme.

  • for those of you disturbed by this film why don't you think of Bob from Monsters vs Aliens?

  • I saw the 80's version before this one, so the original seems more pleasent than what you might expect in a horror film.

  • That's beacuse back in the 1950s horror films were less violent like Psycho.

  • beware of the blob bitches, it creeps and leaps and glides and slides across the floor right through the door and all around the wall a splotch a blotch be careful of the blob...

  • Totally cool, classic theme to a classic sci-fi film!!!

  • I'll never forget this opening! Ah..the good old sci-fi horror movies of yester-year -- only to be replaced with torture-porn which today's teens actually think are horror movies.

  • So true. What happened to the power of suggestion, and to letting us use our imaginations? Now the genre has become just an obvious, brainless, blood-soaked gutfest devoid of any mystery. It's not even scary - just disgusting.

  • One of the best B rated movies ever. What a classic.

  • This is an old Mexican folk tune, does anyone know the name?

  • The Five Blobs - The Blob

  • written by Burt Bacharach...I only wish he was as proud of this one as some of the later stuff...

  • Comment removed

  • ....pop....

  • I love this tune

  • Comment removed

  • It's quite catchy! *POP*

  • I LOVE IT SO MUCH it makes me laugh so hard BEWARE OF THE BLOB

  • lol u 2?

  • to me that sounds funny, but if you got fired then no thats not that funny at all

  • 1:10, lyrics for those interested

  • huuuh, so creepy and scary...Q.Q

  • lolz this song just screams horror movie (no pun intended)

  • great theme tune its than the damened tune blak leather

  • Beware of the blob!

    *pop*

  • So classy!

  • Best theme song ever!

  • Audrey 2 may be a close second, but of all the classic movie monsters, I still think the Blob has the best theme music!

  • When I popped in my stepdad's tape, at first I thought I had the wrong movie, due to the somewhat upbeat nature of the song conflicting with the content.

  • yeah it is catchy!

  • Alright, everyone just admit it's a catchy tune. And then... the movie ain't so bad either.

  • lol with the beat of this song, I expect to see people dancing on a beach with annette funicello or something

  • Fors those who saw this and not the main film, it wasn't a comedy by the way ;)

  • The lyrics are a bit misleading

  • This version is a little different recording than the single release. you can hear the subtle differences.

  • Too bad they couldn't get actual teenagers to play the teenagers. I mean Steve McQueen for one was 28 when he did this movie.

  • this opening ist uber stylish

  • i memorized the whole thing! my friend is gonna sleep over so i will just annoy her by singing this. HEY, it's better than elevator music!

  • *Pop* "Beware of the Blob, it creeps, And leaps, And glides and slides across the floor... Right through, The door, And all around the wall... A splotch, A blotch, Be careful of the Blo-" *pop*
  • last year i put the lyrics all over my science journal. cause we saw the movie in class and i was hooked. lol. kinda stupid movie though.

  • that's such a bangin song

  • This song is better than anything you will hear in 'Mama Mia!'

  • i think i would rather have this stuck in my head rather than elivator music... imagine being able to watch whats going on in my head on tv...its a strange world in there (my head)

  • I know what you mean! (my head on tv)

  • god i can't get this out of my head

  • i couldn't tell

  • This song has been stuck in my head for days

  • Now Playing on MY Computer!...(maybe itsa little Sexy!)..en/oh/to a friend of MINE... *Happy Birthday Rob* from J.R.

  • "That doesn't sound like a house!"

  • A big hit movie made in the days when people actually had fun with irony. And a great song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, too.

  • What a good tune! I wish they made em like this today!

  • it was a big hit back in the day. i saw this at the movies as a child. went home and was afraid to sleep because part of my blanket was the color red.
