Can you believe Shatner was the 2nd choice to play Cpt. Kirk after the guy from Hawaii Five-O turned it down? He's dead now, and I can't remember his name. Leonard Nimoy was the 2nd choice to play Spock after the guy from Space 1999 (Martin Landau) turned it down. Think how different the show would've been. The guy who played Cpt Pike (Jeffrey Hunter) had died in a car accident between the time Roddenberry's first pilot was rejected by NBC in 1964/65, and when NBC accepted the 2nd pilot in 1966.
