Hell yeah they work. Prime time for whistling foxes this time of year as the pups start getting about. Were you able to take the vermin out that you whistled? Just make sure the cat doesn't belong to some old lady down the road :)
Your use of tools worries me. An accident waiting to happen. The way you handle the screw driver, holding the tin in a pair of grips to drill and that belt sander without any guards..your goggles and gloves isn't going to save you when your sleeves get caught and pull your arm through that. H&S I'm not, but mate, please take care.
Thanks for your concern mate but I keep my wits about me and have never had any injury apart from the odd cut from machining chips. The grips are fine to drill with, if the part being drilled does lock up then your hands are well away from the spinning part. Ive been using that linisher for close to 10 years now without any injury, made quite a few knifes with it too.
Some people should stay away from power tools, perhaps you are one of them. Think before you act and stay safe
@AussieHunta I've been an aircraft engineer since 1982 my friend; all tools need to be respected. I show my concern and you sound like your not really bothered and fair enough, that's your call.
Ive got a button whistle ( I believe) doughnut with hole in middle, works well on cats and foxes, but this sounds a lot louder. Do you know does it also work on feral cats, I would guess so as it is a great mimic of distressed rabbit
Awesome Vid, hunted around for one that showed how to make one - yours is the best, and thanks for demo re blowing afterwards - good tips and explanation to have air flow through bottom large hole, I dont think other demos explain this
Do you have one or two of these that I can buy? I don't have the tools needed and I just have one fox to take care of. Seems he is determined to leave his mark on my back deck. I'm in the US and will be glad to cover the cost and shipping.
Very good, and useful too. I am just interested in the exact size or type of the drill. Maybe if you can say it in millimeters it would be great. Thx in advance.
hey mate great video :) but i cannot seem to get mine to work the first 3 i made sounded raspy with no whistls to it and the last 2 i made just didnt work, Ya got any ideas???
going to make one tomorrow, thanks for the vid, got a pesty little bugger keeps hanging about by my chicken enclosure and will try and drop it in the morning. very well made video too.
great one, made one and it worked well, first time out wistled for 5 mins then one a fox came out 30 metres in front on me didn't even have the gun loaded ! just trying it out !
Yep, I've had the same when walking my dogs in the city and had a quick whistle for fun, theyre bloddy well everywhere. A mate has even had them in his front yard in the burbs. Gettin outa control
Gidday mate. Watched the vid today and made a whistle but it wouldn't work. Then made another one and it wouldn't work either. Then I moved my tongue into a different spot and it worked like a bloody beauty. Very simple to use once you get the hang of it. Can't wait to get out and give it a try in the field. Much louder than the button whistle and much more realistic sounding. Cheers and happy hunting, Cazza.
This seemed to be a very efficient and exiting way to hunt fox. We have something similar here in Norway but its made of hard plastic because it can be -20 degrees so metal is not so smart to put in your mouth. Keep on killing fox and predators. Its very important for us hunters to do that so we can harvest the other animals. Great film.
The tenterfield works very well on the foxes here on australia, I've never seen a plastic one but yes I can imagine how a steel one would freeze your lips to it. Lol. I've heard good news today, the aussie government might be re-introducing a bounty on foxes, time to make some money!!!
Great Vid mate, I paid 5bucks for one of the doughnut style ones, no were near as loud. I'll knock up a few of these ones and maybe I'll get some better results.
And my dog just came running

No worries mate, now get out there and put a dent in your local fox numbers!
AussieHunta 11 months ago
Thankyou so much! I am 16 years old and made up 4 of them in one go, travelling back and forth from the Computer to the shed :)
It is really easy to learn took me only 5 mins at the most!
If i Drilled anotehr hole at the bottom of the whistle to attach a lanyard would that effect its whistling ability?

hi, españoy and I like your videos. I'm trying to make a call, but it is quite sound recording, not sharp.
What metal are you using?. What is the thickness?
Can you tell me the measurements of the bits in millimeters?
I am interested in buy multiple calls. Is it possible?
thanks
