Ahhhh...takes me back....Eddie was incredible on this track and Ripley. This song was worth sitting through the BS of this wannabe Fast Times at Ridgemont High wannabe movie.
@Shadowking8 I really dig the movie. Of course you're right. It's no "Fast Times" but it has many redeeming qualities. You should check it out again some time. You might be surprised. I wish Ed was on the soundtrack album more than he was. I like that they turned "Ripley" into "Blood And Fire" on the new album. Great shit. Ed is back.
This song is so uplifting. I remember hearing these ending credits as a kid when it first came out in 84 and I'm doing the same thing then that I'm doing now... playing it over and over! A nice rediscovery of a song I had forgotten, Kudos for posting dude.
I like it. Its always nice for a musician to get to do something different. Eddie did this all by himself and you didn't want to give them the whole vintage VH sound. They would have had to pay too much extra!
@gaussalmighty I think you're right, he is one of the best 5 of all time. He's right up there with Zack Morris - Zack Attack & The Chick from the Bangles. Timeless virtuosos all in their own field. Masters of craft & Givers of joy outstanding. Seriously, Eddie will always be "the man"
i know they clashed back then because of these synthesizers, but you can't deny that Eddie's synth did inspire/influence DLR a little (pun intended) for the "A little ain't enough" track on his solo 1991 album. There's a small synth solo on that track around 2:50 where it sounds EXACTLY like this song. Look it up.
Influenced them at that time. Why do you think that after the1984 album DLR went solo and SH was added to the band? Their musical differences and egos clashed. I personally like both styles of VH. Different decades, different sounds. I do think SH is a better singer than DLR but I like DLR stage presence more. That's just my own opinion. And I'm pretty sure VH with SH had more Chart hits than with DLR. The song writing styles are different so I wouldn't compare the 2 but it's still Van Halen.
I beg to differ ridemybmw, I think that it expanded their fan base. Sure you can say that EVH's sound changed or their mix changed by adding the keyboard but I remember hearing that Jump was created somewhere between VH1 and VH2 album. DLR didn't like the song so it didn't make it on an album until the 1984 album which was their only #1 hit at that time. You could say that about Rush for that matter but you can't stop a musician from wanting to explore and create what's inside of them or what i

I was told by a record shop in 1988 that the soundtrack was on CD but i have only seen boot copies. I have the album on cassette and vinyl.

I guess this is that incredibly rich and crunchy Oberheim keyboard of Eddie`s driving this. Love its sound!

I really sure that is a "rehearsal" for JUMP of 1984 or as said before, some like a JUMP part II.

It's Van Halen Light, but it still kicks ass all over the bullshit that gets released these days.

VH was the hottest sound at the time & works really well as the soundtrack. Sorry to see this film didn't take off. I still enjoy it a lot !
