  • She has clear & present talent .. absolutely .. & I'd love to adore her .. but I saw her on Ch 10's The Project tonite 1st Feb, & frankly, she came across as a bit hard, arrogant, cynical, & cruel (even, I suspect, a good deal of unresolved anger & resentment, within .. hasn't touched a drink for 20 yrs, she said on air .. so maybe it fits). I'd love to think that's not true .. ie the way she came across .. but it was quite unmistakeable, live on-air. She seems besotted with France.

  • @colindominy it was Dave Huges who said he hasn't touched a drink for 20 years, not Tina. if you're going to psycho-analyse people's comments so deeply, you should pay closer attention. I watched the whole episode of The Project, and Tina didn't say one thing that was cynical or cruel - I thought she was charming!

  • Luv you Tina, but dont tell my wife

  • GREAT

  • amazing is all i can say- goosebumps! :)

  • OMG what a voice, one of the best ever

  • I love tina arena!

  • @davidfrankinston..obviously you have no taste in music ,keep your nasty comments to yourself.

I'd like to praise Tina, when she found out Cadel won the tour she made her way from Italy to sing the national anthem for Cadel.Usually they only play a taped recording so for her to go out of her way to sing it live for him was amazing. She is the person you will never be dave.

  • What a day of mixed emotions the euphoria of watching Cadel finally attain his long yearned for dream. The next, cringing while this airhead butchered our National Anthem..... Oh well One winner on the day was Ok

  • @DAVIDFRANKSTON For one thing Tina Arena is no airhead she is extremely clever, witty and kind, plus she's not exactly young so she's not there for her looks! - She is a voice in a million and you have no taste.

  • @DAVIDFRANKSTON obviously your a young man in his 40's by using a rediculous word from the 80's "airhead" , who endures the right to free speach.Unfortunately your stone deaf and shouldn't comment on something you obviously no nothing about .Tina Arena has a extraordinary ability, her beautiful voice has one hearts all around the world since the days of young talent time.So shame on you David Frankston go back to what ever you do that doesn't concern music and full your foot out of your mouth

  • They should have the national anthem being sung live every year!

  • This is the most valuable version I have ever heard of our Australian National Anthem!!! What a shame two Aussies talking ruined it laughing.

Tina Arena you brought Cadel Evans to tears at 0:30 - 0:36 this is Australia at its finest, a World Frist, to such an honourable man! Thank you Cadel and Tina. Aussie Oi? We gotta get a betta theme going than Oi oi oi but yeah struth fantastic singing our most precious musical instrument Tina's voice!

  • This has to rate up there with Slim singing "Waltzing Matilda" at the closing ceremoney of Sydney Olympics.A fitting finale to a supreme effort from Cadel.

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi.

  • Moment émotion ! Bravo à tous....

  • Was sagte ein bekannter deutscher Radrennfahrer ?

Er sagte: "Ich habe niemanden betrogen !"

  • I think that is more to do with this video than Tina miming. I noticed that on this video as well, but when I watched it live on TV it was fine.

Given how short notice getting Tina to sing the anthem was, I think it was sung live. EIther way it sounded beautiful.

  • THIS SHOULD BE THE STANDARD VERSION OF OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM WHEREVER AN AUSTRALIAN ACHIEVED SOMETHING GREAT FOR THEIR COUNTRY !

  • Ecoutez bien le début, on voit que c'est un play-back, l'hymne commence une seconde avant que Tina commence à chanter ^^. Mais félicitations au grand et attachant Cadel Evans, le meilleur coureur de sa génération.

  • @LoneWolf60250 With respect, I beg to differ. It sounds very "live" to me. Tina is a wonderful singer & more than capable of singing the anthem without need of backing.

  • @shearn666 I'm sorry, but see her lips, you can see a little time between the moves and the song. But that doesn't change that this anthem is just wonderful. Sorry for my bad English, I'm French ^^".

  • Julie Anthony you have a real contender here, as much as I adore you this was simply brilliant. I think Tina will go on to be invited to sing everywhere now. And how appropriate, Aussie living in France to sing the Anthem. Loved it.

  • Inspiring decision from another great Aussie. Thank you Tina for taking the initiative. Fitting to have you singing the Australian anthem on the Champs Elysees.

  • I do like how Andy looked at Frank when Tina started singing. "Take your hat off you idiot" - can just see the look in his eyes!

  • That girl doesn't need auto-tune. That's some real singing right there, chock full of heart.

  • @albaby68 : I am pretty sure Mike tomalaris was just as surprised as everyone else when Tina got up to sing. Apparently she had just called that morning and asked to make an impromtu performance. The first time a national anthem has been sung at the Tour, for an Aussie.

  • @MrMan1533

I agree with you. I'm sure that, had Mike Tomalaris known Tina was going to sing, he would have said something. These commentators have done a superb job bringing the tour to us over the whole event. Give credit where credit is due.

  • Wow beautiful song and singer. Congrats Cadel

  • Watched it in the UK, absolutely filthy the bloody poms stopped the telecast before the anthems bunch of battlers!

  • Cadel evans... from a uci world mountain bike championship to a uci road world championship to winning a tour de france... I would say his career has been made. well done cadel

  • As a Tina fan, I was very disappointed with sbs' Mike Tomalaris, when he didn't even mention Tina was getting up to sing. Like she was nothing to Australians. Shame Mike, shame.

  • @albaby68 : I absolutely felt the same thing. Who the hell is Tomalaris anyway? He should be axed.

  • A beautiful rendition, but slightly annoyed by the people talking and laughing during the song. Excellent job by both Cadel and Tina though.

  • God I love that girl so much!

  • Nice voice, dud song. Should'a been Waltzing Matilda.

  • @margate131 Waltzing Matilda LOL. So Aussie.... :\

Up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred,

Down came the troopers, one, two, three,

"Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker bag?"

"You'll come a-Waltzing Matilda, with me".

  • @margate131 Bullcrap. What does Waltzing Matilda have to do with Australia apart from telling a story that occurs in Australia. That is a song about a swagman, some sheep, squatters etc. Not about our nation. And it revolves around a very small part of our culture. The current national anthem is much more encompassing and passionate. Waltzing Matilda should be our National Song, but not our National Anthem.

  • @boogiefever1985 Matilda is about standing up for your self despite the odds. It’s about courage, plus it’s a good tune.

  • @margate131 I agree it is about standing up for yourself and courage and so on, but those things are not unique to Australia. Those are good attributes in any country. The anthem needs to be about Australia not about how courageous one should be. The plebiscite in 1977 asked us what we wanted for the national anthem. 10% of the country voted for "Song of Australia". 19% voted for "God Save The Queen." 28% voted for "Waltzing Matilda." 43% chose "Advance Australia Fair." Choice of the people.

  • @boogiefever1985 Son, it’s always risky to mix opinion with fact, for example Advance Australia Fair is slices of musical incontinence wrapped around verses of literary drivel; that’s opinion. Then there are facts; relying on that ’77 poll is syllogistic, innumerate and politically naive.

  • @margate131 All I'm saying is that we were lucky enough to be consulted regarding the anthem in the '77 referendum. I don't understand why using results from an admittedly non-binding plebiscite is politically naive. I'm not saying that opinion has not changed. I'm not saying that Waltzing Matilda isn't a better song. All I was saying was that we HAVE been consulted. This is in contrast to the carbon tax where we have not even been offered a lowly non-binding plebiscite. I am 26 and stupid.

  • Tina Arena's singing already holds a special place in my heart. As a steadfast & keen follower of Cadel's career for many years, my national anthem sung (by another ex-pat Aussie who now lives in Paris) during this extremely proud moment brought me tears of proud joy.

  • i through this was one of the best ever versions that i have heard of someone singing the national anthem!

  • Tina's looking better now than when she was younger. Hot Milf!

  • according to Tina ( interview also on youtube) , she woke up this morning with a dream to sing, and rang the organisers! Wow, awesome on so many levels.......

  • As an American cyclist (triathlete), Tour de France fan, Cadell Evans fan, and now Tina Arena fan- WOW! Awesome rendition of Australia's National Anthem. Congratulations to Cadell and all Australians!!

  • @MPowerKinetics They are both champions! Cadell is now a national hero in Australia, however Tina has always been a legend! Her work spans decades! glad you like her too!

  • I'm American, but that's beautiful and inspiring to anyone. Cadel Evans is the real deal, and makes me proud to be a cycling fan. Like she said, rich and rare!

  • Nailed it!

  • Wonderful rendition of our Anthem on such a special moment in Australian sport. Well done Cadel.

  • Both of them are national treasures. Great to be Australian!

  • @tipene18 well said!
