  • 38 people are reed suckers.

  • I found this very enlightening, and inspirational, I feel there IS deep meaning here someplace!!!

  • You know man putting that much stress on yourself while quite a physical accomplishment in and of itself doesn't mean a lot. I mean what if you had blown an artery or something? Thank The Lord you weren't seriously hurt doing that!

  • WOOT, gratuitous is on my vocab list!

  • so was this actually a record breaker?

Nice job though i play trombone and my lips would feel like a sponge at like 600

  • 6:55 you play an E.

  • @joefuscia Oh. Okay.

  • @funderbone

This may have been a huge waste of my time, however that was amazing, and I have no idea how you did that. A silly accomplishment, but still an accomplishment. Good job.

  • fall out dude...lol

  • this guy has really good range security

  • @xmuzzyx20 haha!

  • But can you play the trombone solo in Artie Shaws "Stardust"? That only takes one...and a really sweet legato line.

  • Actulaly, that was 1002 HAHA :D

  • I can play a high F but its really hard, i can't play it like you

  • Wow well done man! it amazes me at the few very dumb-ass comments some people post-I guess they are just jealous of your ability or they have no clue- I am a professional trumpet player for many years and if I attempted to play 10 high F r G's in a row I'd pass out, lol- well done

  • @MrRandyreg Thanks, dude. I welcome the dumbass comments. They amuse me. :-)

  • I would have been more impressed and you would probably get more benefit if you had played each tone more sustained like a quarter length or so. It would strengthen your lip muscles and you would get more consistent with your breathing. Do another and just hold one single tone and time it.

  • @krzymarc Seriously? C'mon, man.. I redirect you to the disclaimer at the beginning of this nonsense.

  • @krzymarc Hey man, yeah, would you mind posting a video of you hitting and sustaining, I don't know, 100 or so high F's? You know, just to give me and a professional player like Wes something to go by...

  • @krzymarc its funny that youre trying to teach a teacher and a master of the trombone

  • 240 im pretty sure that a different note.....number 301

  • I only counted 112.

  • This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. And I have seen some ridiculous things in my day.

  • @sweetescape4567643...

You're 16 and do breathing exercises for a living? How much do you make doing that? Is it enough to pay rent? Oh wait..

Well that's ok you can play the same F and Bb above.. Would you make a vid response doing both?!? Please, please, please!!!!!

  • GRATUITISM!

  • dude... that's not continuous... you rest between every 10 notes... and you talk... continuously... get a metronome...

  • @rockyiii1 No, I rest every 50 notes..... Learn how to count. THEN I talk continuously.....dude.

  • @funderbone its ten.

  • @sweetescape298 Wrong. I played the freakin' video. It's grouped in 50 (followed by a REST) with a minuscule pause after every ten so I could keep up. Seriously, folks. C'mon.. Gimme a break.

  • @funderbone you may play 1001 high F's but you breath every 10. and the first grouping you played 40. when you said 50 and I'd be a lot more impressed if you did the the really high Bb. I'm 16 I can do prob do the high F and sustain it for a long time better yet I can also play the really high Bb then again I'm in better shape and i do breathing exercises for a living.

  • @sweetescape298 MY GOD! Have I actually made you watch this video to the point where you're counting, assessing and obsessing about it? hahahahaha!!! Nice. I win. I always win. Post a video response, sucka. Walk the walk if you're gonna talk the talk.

  • @funderbone You're articulating which doesn't count. If you breathed then played sustaining the note that would be also impressive. But just adding a little tongue doesn't change much and or require much skill and I have better things to do with my life than post videos of myself playing a high F which every grade 4 trombonist can play.

  • @sweetescape298 I direct you to Re-articulated High Notes Videos 1 and 2. End of conversation. Bye.

  • @sweetescape298 You're a retard

  • You know, he probably just stopped for about 3 minutes in the middle. No one would ever know.

  • @pedropedaltones Yeah, man..okay.

  • @funderbone It's a joke, in case the text didn't get that point across to you lol

  • @funderbone I guess you missed joke...

  • FAKE he is going da da da da da

  • @MrChickennugget2454 Okay, man.. Whatever you say.

  • you're my idol.

  • too bad that at 1:35 you def, aren't playing your chosen note...at least thats what comes out of my computer.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Stay-at-home bum and internet porn?? Sounds like you are describing yourself more than me, since I have nothing to do with either of them you moron. I guess you were jobless so you were trying to get some attention through youtube while you had so much time as a stay-at-home bum, and maybe got some weird ideas from watching internet porn. Hope you get a job soon, since I have plenty. In fact, I came across your pathetic vid while I was researching more about trombone as an orchestrator.

  • @canzo0378 Gosh, you're sensitive.

  • I can't even do one...

  • seriously...what' the point of playing it 1001 times??? If you showed that you are able to play high F like 10 times, then ppl can figure out you can play many more times after that??!!??!!?? Only ppl who have too much time in their life would watch the entire 8 minutes of this youtube...and like non-musicians wouldn't even get to this vid, and only job-less trombone players will watch the whole thing, since most musicians will be pretty busy...

  • @canzo0378 i find it funny that you chastise and ask "what's the point", and state that "Only ppl who have too much time in their life would watch the entire 8 minutes of this youtube"... and yet, you find time if your, i'm guessing, awesome and focused day to comment on something that is so trivial in your eyes.

way to be that shining light we can all learn from so we can see what serious and focused people spend their time doing...

  • @canzo0378 You just got owned. Live with it.

  • @charley12345678901 Well, the thing is I did NOT watch the whole 8 min. of it. I just saw like first 30seconds, and basically knew what was gonna happen for the rest of the vid. I'm not that dum. :)

  • @canzo0378 I'm famous because of this video, sucka. That's the point. You see, I'm a successful, contributing member of society who can play 1001 High F's. I win. Love you. Mean it.

  • @funderbone ummmmmm....... what's the point? And you not serious, r you...

  • @canzo0378 canzo, youre a prick. eat a cock.

  • @orchtrumpet91 hahahaha!

  • 1:35 he plays lower

  • @TheAmazingJG ya but he plays 11 to make up for it

  • instead of 1000 high fs why not just play one really long one?

  • You are a squigid if you watched the whole thing..........

  • hey if u send in this video to the world record peeps maybe ull be added in the book!! except tell thm u did one extra note to cheat

  • i cant believe i watched this all the way through.. the one free day i have.. and i spent 8 minutes and 6 seconds watching this....

  • That kills your chaps you know. But nice job :) For how long have you been playing? hold old were you when you started playing? What was your first song learned? When was your first solo? I know too much questions =D

  • @LazyQuitter Hey, thanks man! I'll get to work on that.

It's "you're", by the by. Actually, you forgot a capital there... and a period.

I guess I'll see you in class ;)

  • you screwed up at 1:36 and undershot it once D:

    still impressive anyhow lol

  • slur it LOL

  • mah props brah

  • Comment removed

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @luigianguiani A thoughtful and insightful comment. Thanks for taking the time to hold the 'z' key down for a couple of seconds.

  • haha "900 WOOO"

  • Jump from 1:00 to 5:30ish and hear the difference

  • lis and deceat you are stopping

  • @battlefrontforever I don't know what "lis and deceat" means....

  • higher..

  • @molecular360 Check the "high f smackdown" for higher.

  • Why did you do this sir?

  • @CoolJoshBaby Because, because, because, because, becauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse!!!

  • So Annoying! I think I'm going insane.

  • @tshows635 Welcome to my world. :-)

  • by the way i started taking notice of how many high F's u did... u said 750 twice 5.02 and 5.27 and u sometimes did 60 instead of 50 and said u made 50... so gratz u made approxiamtely 1111 :P

obviously its a waste of time but its sure studying lol

  • @nevillelajru Ugh.. Now I have to start over. HA!

  • in a row means without stoping

  • @streetlegaldrift Stoping? –noun Geology .

a process by which magmas move upward in the earth by breaking off and engulfing blocks of overlying rocks.

Or did you mean "stopping"? hahaha..

  • why did you thank me for staying the whole video when i just got bored and skipped to the end haha.

  • cant believe i watched the whole thing

  • @fatrangecam Yep...You had 8 minutes to do anything else, man. haha...

  • @funderbone Good for making six pack.....lol

  • dude next time try to just play them continuous with catch breaths THAT WOULD BE CRAZY but that showed some crazy endurance.

  • 198 was a G

  • @voidalist Yeah, I know... I was trying to fool you. I guess I didn't. The other 1000 should make up for it. :-)

  • LMAO this is actually HILARIOUS if u think about it....and shouldn't it be how many high F's u can do in a row without taking a break??

  • @anonymousrox It takes endurance to be able to play lots of high notes for a long time, and that's why this is impressive (I guess...I don't know what a high F means in trombone because I play the trumpet, but it sounds high for a trombone!)

  • What I love most about this video: Wes actually takes the time to write back at every comment made by every 12th grade band student. This guy rocks. nuff said.

  • @eeek82 Except for you. I'm not responding to YOU!...oh wait. Dang it! :-)

  • This guy looks like Hank Hill From King of the Hill.

  • @Gozaburo1 I take pride in that...propppannne..

  • dang that sounds annoying, i dunno how you doe this lol =P

  • You might consider sending this to Webster's. If they ever needed to illustrate the word "boredom" ... this would do nicely. The Andy Warhol estate might also have some interest.

  • haha...That's all you got? That's your idea of sarcasm? That's the only comment you could come up with? hahaha.

  • lol thats some crazy endurance skills

  • Has a nice beat and you can dance to it.

  • ...that's because it's really hard to do. But thanks! :-)

  • Thanks for posting this! Ever since I watched this for the first time I started doing this every day. I have found that I don't need to even practice anymore! All I do is make sure that I get in as many high F's as I can and I feel great for the rest of the day!! Thank You for the tips!!! Everyone should try this-

  • Wow!! And you said that without ANY sarcasm!! Yes...it was my pleasure to share this with the world. Hooray! I'm so special! Yeah for me!!

  • alright guys, seriously. the man is trying to have some fun. personally i thought it was great. trying to critique him on something like this is just silly. he says right off the bat that this is just for shits and giggles. of course the tone on a thousand high Fs isnt going to be great. i bet it wouldnt be for you either.

word man, i eagerly await the day you post 2000 and beat this awesome record.

  • Yes! One day, man...one day.

  • wow thats a jackass move dude u could be paralyzed in the lips for playing that much u ass fuck damn wtf is wrong with u. JK DUDE JK UR GOOD

  • i started laughing ma ass of f at teh beggining

  • that was awesome n_n

  • LOL This is great, I couldn't stop laughing by 650. I love how you look like your waltzing with bouts of fighting the sensation to poo yourself. :)

  • Toot toot toot toot toot toot toot toot toot toot

  • No, it's "toot toot toot toot toot toot toot toot toot tooooooot"

  • I watched the whole thing while grinning. You obviously took a trip to the GNC.

  • well besides that this is extremely annoying,. its not exactly 1001 in a row. seeng as you missed one. im not going to listen to the whole thing but yea. try try again

  • "I never understood why HealthClassChris was always so sad in my class. He always seemed like a good boy with a lot to offer the world. I just never would have expected this. to happen to him."

    ---HeathClassChris' 3rd grade teacher

Thank you for your insights, HCC. I will try, try again. It's so important these days to be truthful and honest when speaking to such a broad audience. You have, along with many others, pointed out that I missed one. I will now eat some Fritos in your honor.

  • I really don't care for the performance but at least you have the right outlook on it...

  • ....I'm not sarcastic at all.

  • Of course :-)

  • @funderbone i cant be held accountable for you sucking.. well blowing at something that is extremely easy, yet difficult for you.

  • @HealthClassChris Your response makes no sense and lacks originality. You're so sensitive! You probably have a ponytail and government job. Does your keyboard have a 'shift' key for capital letters? My keyboard has TWO!! (I just used 'em both!) :-)

  • @funderbone you probably dont have a job. you get very defensive over nothing you know that?

  • @HealthClassChris You apparently have no 'shift' keys on your computer (or never learned how to use them properly) AND you type with improper punctuation. I win again...twice. Next?

  • @funderbone let me give you a hint, just because you have 2 shift keys doesnt mean you need to use them both. holding one does the same thing(:

  • @HealthClassChris I still win. Done.

  • @funderbone This is failish.

  • @octeern "Failish" isn't a word. Try again.

  • @funderbone It is in the computerworld, and owww where are you now posting?? OMG it's on Youtube, that's on the internet aaaaaaaaah, you are just a failbob ;)

And normal people reply on-topic =p and do not whine about stupid shit.

  • @octeern "Failbob" isn't a word. Try again. You can do it.

  • @octeern you don't get the message? Stop crying about such idiot things morron, if you think you are interesting with these comments, well you aren't not. Go study a bit so you can think you're smart.

This is my last comment ;)

  • And now we have funny.

  • He said he was having fun.. sheesh

  • @Lchsmb2009 lol, you dont increase your range through pieces of music, you get it from countless hours of practicing, try playing g,f#,g,a,b,c,e,g, now you should be above the staff, take it from there once you are comfortable with it and

    attempt it everyday

  • Nice. That's about where Rick Lillard STARTS his upper range. Keep practicing. You might get there.

  • Oh, okay. Thanks. Gotcha.

  • No.

  • every scale you can play up an octave, make D major solid then go up a half step making sure everything is clean

  • you missed one before 150 soooooo

  • sooooooo?

  • so you missed 44 of these "high f's" don't say it is 1001 when it isn't. When they are all identical and you re articulate each one by taking the horn off your face, then that really would be 1001 high f's

  • Oh, okay...I owe you some money for this lesson. I'll send you one penny at a time placed neatly in it's own secure envelope with some perfume and tear stain on Lincoln's manly beard. I will do this until all debts are honored. Then I'll say a little prayer that you'll show me the correct way to play 1001 high f's. Then I will eat a sandwich. ...hahaha...you ACTUALLY took the time to count the missed ones? hahaha..my work here is done. Love you.

  • And don't forget about your tone! Really, your tone is way more important than your range. I guess that's only my opinion, but if you play a double C, it doesn't really mean much unless you've got good tone on it.

FYI, I'm a freshman college student at Illinois State. Music Ed major...

Hope I've been of some help!

  • Tell Tom Stark I said hi.

  • Do:

    Lowell Little's Embouchure Builder

    A lot of Clarke studies

    Arbans Lip Slurs

    Lots of mouthpiece buzzing

Focus on your air speed and tone (Air speed is everything!!!)

    Do not:

    Go buy fifty new mouthpieces

Tinker with anything on your trumpet

Really, there are no shortcuts to playing high. It's all about your air speed. If you play correctly and direct your air correctly, you'll be well on your way. Just don't cheat or cut corners. Check out "The Art of Brass Playing" too. Good stuff.

  • This is one of the stupider things I have seen in a long time.

By the way, this is hilarious.

  • Dude...you are killing me! Awesome!

Looking forward to hearing some of your other videos!

  • haha he didn't but who gives a shit this is hysterical. People like this just have a vibrant sense of humor.

  • Seriously?? hahahahahahahaha... Okay, man... hahahaha

  • Haha. Awesome man, I don't know about you but my lips would have been soooo tired at the end of this!

  • WOW! You should make a t-shirt that says "I Know People That Play the Same Note One Octave Above!!" so everyone who sees you can shake your hand and tell you how super awesome your life is. And THEN you should put a gold star sticker on your forehead because you deserve it.

  • thats actually a really good idea for a shirt!

  • fuck man:D your amazing!!! bravo!

  • ♥

  • Let's get ready to rumble.....

  • Ahh!!! Call the press!!!

  • I bet your neighbors want to slay you.

  • ..doubt it. She's an elderly woman and doesn't have the strength..

  • you're a tool

  • I think you're special, too.

"Tool" as defined by Webster's Dictionary:

(definition #5) - anything used as a means of accomplishing a task or purpose: "Education is a tool for success."

So, thank you! What a wonderful job our government schools have done in raising you.

  • what a clever guy

still doesnt change the fact that you are a tool. how about clown? or loser? or joke? do you get the point im trying to make now?

  • ...OH! Yes, I understand now. (psst! There's an apostrophe between the 'i' and 'm' when you're using the contraction for the phrase "I am"). Here, let me show you.

    I'm happy.

....now I expect you have a not-so-clever comeback. That's fine. WOW! Look at all the contractions I've used with apostrophes all over the place! Go ahead now... the floor is your's until I block you. :-)

    Good luck!

  • i really appreciate the little grammar lessen you just gave me. you forgot the contraction doesn't has an apostrophe and the fact i didn't capitalize anything. i find it hard to believe you missed that obvious one but being the clever guy you are you must have been to excited to form a awesome response to catch it.

still standing by my original statement that you're a tool. look contraction. ill try to step up my grammar for you in the future.

  • 1. "Lesson" has an 'o' in it

2/apostrophe [(uh-pos-truh-fee)] - A mark (') used with a noun or pronoun to indicate possession (the student's comment, the people's choice) or in a contraction to show where letters have been left out (isn't, don't, we'll)

    3. I love you.

  • lol, tool

  • Who's the tool? The guy who recorded this video or the guy who watched it and keeps commenting on it.

tyuifuisdr wouldn't know a sense of humor if it hit him in his f attachment.

  • hahahahahaha.. now THAT'S funny!

  • i would have been way more impressed if he didnt start losing tone after about 250... it got like horrible around 750... then better around 850... then bad around 900... 960 was terrible... and the countdown hurt my ears... but i mean i gotta still give him credit for 1001 in a row...

  • ....thanks....now add 689 (off camera, first take) plus THOSE numbers and that's how many I actually played in a row.. Tone is overrated anyway. :-)

  • tru.. sorry i probly sounded like a jerk.. i just like to play along to the whole "everyone's a critic" cliché.. I really am impressed tho... my lips would have fallen off after the first 500 off camera...

  • do you have a counter?

  • OK, so, now do one where you alternate between high F and pedal B-flat. Either every other set of 10 or every other note, your choice :O)!!
