i went there with my college just next to it is an egg they charge £1 to make it work........... all it did was pop out of its egg and go back into nothing else lol ¬.¬
There was a period in which dinosaurs were more interested in masturbation than in meeting dinosaur girls, so God decided to shorten their arms to prevent the lack of births. -->T-Rex
when i was little i was a dinosaur freak (still am nowdays), my folks took me here as a 5 year old. i was too scared to walk past it, so dad said i had to run when it wasn't looking at me lol.

It's really cool. They keep changing the dinosaur exhibit there, though. I've been several times over the past 10-15 years (since I was a kid!) and it's constantly changing. They used to do a really cool live show with many different dinosaurs, and they also used to have this kind of raised walkway which took you through several scenes (culminating with the T-Rex) and in 2007 they had this exhibition with just the T-rex's head.
I think I may need to find an excuse to visit London again soon. :) This looks brilliant, and definitely one of the most lifelike animatronics I've seen so far!
@catzcool2323 trust me, it's even scarier when you're in front of that thing, facing it straight in the eye. when i went to see him, it was looking straight into my eyes and i genuinely felt as though it was going to charge at me.
This exhibit is awesome, but if you want to see it, you have to visit this when it is not the school holidays. The kids just completely cram it up and the queue just doesn't move.
im going to the museum again 2morrow 4 the 10th time but the time i mainly remember was my first time i was in year 1 and we went there for a school trip and i was so scared of the dino bit i held my teachers hand then when we saw that T-Rex i started crying and hugging the teacher because i thought it was real , now whenever i go past the T-Rex i run past it coz i have to admit its still quite freaky and seems like it always looks at you in the eye lol (soz 4 the long comment) :D
Lol I remember when I went to see it with my parents! This thing is motion sensitive and anyone who went near the barriers it roared at! Anyway, there was just us watching it and my mum wanted to take my picture whilest I was leaning against the barriers. So I did as she asked and she took the photo. But then I was frozen. My parents stood there in shock. I did not dare turn around. I stood there, I could hear a sniffing sound effect and I could feel cold air breathing down my neck...
and it is modelled on a teenage T-rex...no where near fully grown!!! Still remember watching a young girl mocking it when i was there and as the T-Rex is motion sensitive it tracked her mocking and then roared at her!!!!
omg i would shit myself, i have this strange thing were i am really scared of animatronic dinosaurs like fake ones, especially if theyre on a water ride, ahh!
But i liove jurassic park and that.
i think i wud rather meet a real dino than a fake!

I have the same thing! It's weird. And it's not just dinosaurs - just animatronics in general. It must stem back to some childhood experience XD
So Does the Natural History museum in London, among Stegosauruses, Triceratops and others. This is just an exhibit to give visitors an idea of the scale etc of the beasts by making them interactive.
This T-rex is still the best dinosaur animatronics that I have seen exhibited to the public for now. Hopefully there will be better ones, its legs still look pretty stiff.
I LUUUURVE This museum. We went last month and my Mum goes 'Look! Its a real dinosaur, Hazel!' As a joke, and the little girl in fornt of us was like 'Mummy is that real?!!' LOL. I Love London. =[ I wanna live there. x
thundersrose. IT WAS LOOKING AT YOU!. the t-rex at the NHM has state of the art tracking devices in its eyes. a bit like TRACKIR technology. so sleep well tonight knowing the rex wanted u for lunch muahahahahaha.
The hole in the middle of the skull, which was originally beleived to be an eye socket, has proved to be nothing more than where an elephant like creature's trunk used to be. Easy to be fooled though!
Because elephants eyes are on the side of the head and not the front, there aren't any eye sockets, just indentations at the side. Hope this helps. By the way T-Rex is awesome!
was there today see it today lol, but i was on the website and this isnt a modelof a full grown t rex its actually a teenage t rex and i thought it was smaller than i expected too, they used to have an adult one but removedit and replaced it with this teenage one coz it was more realistic but they shudda just made a more realistic adult 1
This is the best animatronic dino I've ever seen. Completely real looking and convincing. Great variety of motions and "vocalizations". Check it out if you are in London.
i saw an exhibit like that when i was a kid. the t-rex was red though and HUGE! what was really cool is they ahd a woolly mamoth there too with real fur from an actual frozen mammoth! it was really thick and sorta oily.
interesting video and very informative

How do you know it's a life size juvenile?
18151821 1 year ago
@18151821 It's 3/4 the size of an adult so is the approximate size of a young T-Rex.
