  • Doesn't Fred Bartemyer own the Blue PPG Pace Car now?

  • Such a shame they got rid of this car. :/

  • The Indy Fiero Pace Car sounds AMAZING.

  • where is this at i want to go

  • Like Heaven , all in one place!

  • OHHHHH MYYYYYYY GOOOOOODD... the 90's prototype.. DAMN it sounds like a true pontiac..

  • i love those fieros, looking for one to buy but they are very rare here in germany, if you can find one it is beyond rotten and the good ones are already beyond my wallet`s capabilities..:D great clip here

  • The idle on the imsa sounded like someone banging a huge drum

  • haha double bass

  • The pace car sounded mean, but the race car sounded about three shades of pissed off! Not too fond of those wheels on the pace cars, and that GTA experimental would have to be my ride home.

  • i like all the pros it would have kick if they wolud have made all of them

  • the most agrivating thing about the fiero

was all of the screw up that gm did with

this thing. Allowing the corvette people to

interfere with it's development, and the

crappy engines that it had. The fiero should of had the 3800 supercharged or the 3.4 Dohc v6 or the W41 Quad 4 in it.

Now guys are swapping those engines

in to it. And add no Power Steering.

  • I agree with part of that. The L67 Series II motor is great for this car and should have been standard on the GT and Formula models.

But I actually prefer it without the power steering. You really get a feel for what you're doing without it.

  • Totally agree, power steering is overrated and largely unnecessary. Steering effort in these cars isn't heavy except when sitting still.

Manual steering feels like you're really driving and adds a sense of touch. It's more fun, especially for a small sports car.

Power steer is for luxury cars - it ruins the driving experience IMO.

  • OMG!!! I love these cars and the 1990 Prototype would have been an awesome car but it sucks now that Pontiac is no more.

  • I was there for the 20th, best Fiero show EVER.

  • wow! best recap video I've seen!

must've been amazing being there with the first, indy, last, and the prototypes!

  • AMAZING VIDEO!

Thanks for posting that on here for everyone to see!

    Made my day!

  • the prototype Fiero looks a lot to the 94 camaro,or a 93 Trans-am,,maybe thats where they got the idea!,,,i have a 1984 Pontiac INDY Fiero 4 speed manual speed,i understand there were like 2000 INDY fiero replicas and only 250 of those were manual 4 speed transmission,am i lucky to own one of the 250 that is 4 speed manual INDY Fiero???i mean i have research a lot all over and i cant find another INDY Fiero with a 4 speed manual transmission!

  • yes, i myself and many others have noticed many styling ques that are similar to the Firebird and Camaro withthis 90 prototype. Actually, if you have seen this prototype inside you may have noticed that the guage cluster is the "exact" same one used in the Firebirds from 93 and up. seems they canned this prototype but decided to use parts of it in other GM cars.

About Indys, manual/automatic seems to be 50/50. I have had 6 and 4 of them were manuals. A Fiero Forum member has the Indy vin list

  • There is 2 Missing Fiero's in that group.

The 1989 Formula Proto type used in the movie Back to the future.

And the 1 and only 1988 Formula 400 5 Speed Factory built 2M8 V8 car. Was sold to guy in FL: who had no idea what he had. Its mine and has been for past 8 years in stock form since the day it was born, Shame it is so rough now.

Great cars wish I could have been there.

  • Fantastic! You have a rare Gem on your hands! I would love to see some pictures of that beauty, or even some video if you have it.

  • if anyone reading this text is a true fiero lover and thinks gm should bring them back say "i" and go to the ofiicial potiac site and voice your opinions widely on bringing back a new era of fieros, it will only be a waste if you dont try with the rest of us.

  • We just recently got an '85 Fiero SE T-TOP!

Gotta love that t-top... and yes THANK YOU for not dubbing in some song over this video, embrace the Fiero's sound, lol.

  • im in love wish my 85 gt had a turbo iw ish they still made these cars then again if they didnt they wouldnt be that collectible anymore probably

  • always been a fan of these cars. Nice vid you got here. All sorts of Fiero's you just din't see

  • Thank you for not dubbing in some rock song or something like that. Love the vid. Neasamohts said what I am thinking.

  • Best Fiero video, period. I was enthralled with every car that rolled out... That Experimental would've been so so nice..

  • it just goes to show you...you kill of a car that everyone likes at the peak of its performance.....and now 20 years later its an icon,i have 3 fiero's...and i love them to death...i still get asked.."where can i get one of those?"

gm messed up big time by killing this car....but they are prone to screw ups......they killed the firebird and camaro too

  • Pontiac/GM did not kill it the lawyers did.

B4 Gm could fix the little guy they encountered so many law suits they had to drop it.

Did any one see a Mira there?

  • wow, the first fiero ever made... that is really cool! and that '90 one is pretty cool too...

  • Does anyone know what GM did to the 84' Indy Pace Car #2's engine? I have a GT V6 and an Iron Duke SE, and I want to know what they did to that engine...it sounds sick!

  • The Pace car's #1, #2, and #3 all had the racing version of the Iron duke 4cyl engines. They were called the Super Duty 4's or SD4's. The blocks and heads were completely redesigned to handle HP up to and beyond 400hp. most were bored and displaced from 2.5 to 2.7 - 3.0 litres. They also had superduty crank shafts, beefier cam, pistons, rods, valves etc.

These engines were also used by pontiac racing durring the 80's and some sprint and midgit race cars today still use these powerful 4cyl's.

  • Kansas Racing Products still makes these engines but they are costly $8,000 - $12,000 for a complete engine.

Huffaker Racing in SF, CA will still build one for you as they were the ones who helped Pioneer and design the superduty in the 80's.

I am lucky enough to have 2 of these amazing engines. If you look long and hard enough you can find them used on ebay from time to time or on sprint / midget race car classifieds.

  • Thanks for the info, lothre! I will definitely be giving Huffaker a call about my engine, and will keep checking the eBay listings. Thanks!

  • this is one of the best fiero vids i've seen so far. its quite upsetting that the fiero's were shutdown because i sure to love that 1990 concept. i myself have an 87 sport coupe. i've been wanting to drop a 3800 sc v6 into it with a standard tranny. i also love the gt body styling so i've been wanting to do a conversion.

  • This was the 20th Anniversary Celebration hosted by CFOGI (Classic Fiero Owners Group International)and held in Pontiac, MI at the Marriot. GM / Pontiac brought most of the Prototypes and the one (or three) of a kinds to the show. There were something like 400 Fieros at the show.

There's a 25th Anniversary happening this year hosted by MFC (Michigan Fiero Club) in Pontiac, MI. The prototypes and more should be there this time as well. If you missed the 20th, you wont want to miss this.

  • What was this event and who put it on????

This show reminds me of the old Fiero Festivals of yesteryears.....

  • all the prototypes were sic to bad they were only prototypes. check out my 87 fiero

  • Very awesome thank you for posting!

  • bad ass

  • Amazing Video man.

  • awesome video, thanks for the post!
