The locomotive is "wrapped" with the Operation Lifesaver trespass prevention slogan. Trespassing on railroad tracks is a frequent problem, often with tragic consequences. In Southern California, surfers and other people often use the tracks as shortcuts to the beach. This message is to remind them to stay off the tracks and away from railroad property.

they turn red when a door is open. Green: all the doors are closed, Red: a door is open

Green is when the brake are released and yellow is when the brake are applied and the doors only have one light indicator which is red.
