Have you tried pressing the "Source" button near the power button? I got the SyncMaster226bw and it cycles from digital to analog when it turns on so if the monitor is on first you would have to press source for it to use the dvi-d.
@405FELIX well my monitor didnt have a hdmi plug even do it supports full hd so i had to buy a hdmi with a adapter and all u gotta do after is this is what i did is to select auto on the monitor just like u do on the tv to change ur input dont think this will help u though

I had the same problem. I had the same setup - HDMI to DVI. Turns out the monitor wasn't HDCP compliant! From there, whenever I consider buying a new monitor I always check whether it is HDCP compliant or simply purchase a monitor that has HDMI inbuilt which in today's market is vast as there are several different makes of monitor that offer HDMI ports as well as VGA and DVI of course!

@Cenobitum hey man try to set up you ps3 in other tv and than set up the output AV with the components cable,once you have an image change the component cable to the samsung tv ,it should give an image,than change the set up to hdmi cable,thats what i did and it works.

Your problem is that for a monitor to display video from a dvi to hdmi or whatever kind of video conversion cable the monitor has to have support the type of video conversion your doing. Unfortunately it is very hard to find out if the monitor has this support built in and you will have to do searching on forms and tech sites.

@wanorulez actually is for audio an video,but you have to set up your ps3 in settings,seeting video,than will ask you if you want to se up audio to and thats it.
HDMI -> DVI Connectors are known to be extremely finicky in the electronics world. It could simply be that the converter you were using altered the frequency slightly, enough to where the frequency was out of range of that particular monitor to complete the HDMI handshake.
An important thing to remember is that HDMI is more like USB than it is like component cables. It transmits data, not digital audio and video.
Left monitor is working. After reset you are in the menu (witch u cannot see) so do what would you do on the samsung - on pad press "left" once, and then "X" to confim.
thats really odd works for me.. but i had to make the switch for the resolution on my tv cause it got no signal otherwise.. need to run it @ 720p then it works like a charm on the 226bw

damn my LG monitor native resolution 1400x900 is so much better than my SD tv...lol! but now i dont have sounds.. good thing its near the tv i just plug the av audio in the tv and just leave it on... i ordered that adapet though for the speaker

Your problem is that for a monitor to display video from a dvi to hdmi or whatever kind of video conversion cable the monitor has to have support the type of video conversion your doing. Unfortunately it is very hard to find out if the monitor has this support built in and you will have to do searching on forms and tech sites.

Did you know you have 3 DVI technology? DVI-A, DVI-B, DVI-I and DVI-D now. Some monitor dont use same technology.

MY T220HD TV keeps turning off as the adaptor for the back of the TV is loose.
Do you thing its the TV's fault of the actual plug adapter, maybe its just a loose plug.....

if you're fucking rich why the hell do you even bother buying 3 ps3s 3 monitors when you can buy 1 HDTV 1080p for 1 ps3. Isn't that easy enough? oh buy hdmi 1.4 it supports 3D. so you dont have to go out there and buy 10 hdtv's just to see older cables work. again for easy solution buy 3DTV enough said.

a computer monitor generally does not have speakers and even if it did you'd not want it to play your sound

@wanorulez actually is for audio an video,but you have to set up your ps3 in settings,seeting video,than will ask you if you want to se up audio to and thats it.

HDMI -> DVI Connectors are known to be extremely finicky in the electronics world. It could simply be that the converter you were using altered the frequency slightly, enough to where the frequency was out of range of that particular monitor to complete the HDMI handshake.
An important thing to remember is that HDMI is more like USB than it is like component cables. It transmits data, not digital audio and video.

Left monitor is working. After reset you are in the menu (witch u cannot see) so do what would you do on the samsung - on pad press "left" once, and then "X" to confim.

thats really odd works for me.. but i had to make the switch for the resolution on my tv cause it got no signal otherwise.. need to run it @ 720p then it works like a charm on the 226bw

to all those comment below, I tried almost everything, but didn't work. Luckily it was my friend's ps3 and monitor, so he gave up and bought a new monitor that was compatible with the ps3? lol so yea... But I hope you guys do find out how to fix this problem GOOD LUCK!
