Saw Floyd debut Wish you were Here at Knebworth in '75. First set was Dark Side complete followed by Wish you were Here. Dark Side of the Moon was always going to be a hard act to follow but for me they topped it. @melmccon13 ANIMALS! 'Nuff said! If you like some of Floyd's darker stuff, Animals is your type of Floyd album. Another one I'd reccomend is their debut album "Piper at The Gates of Dawn".. if the early psychedelic Floyd stuff is kinda your thing. They're both great albums. Personally, my all time favorite Floyd album will always be The Wall, but Animals is a close second, with this being third. :3

Each PF album is indeed evidence of their mastery of this art and the resulting beauty will last forever, no matter what generation gives it a listen, Pink Floyd is timeless. Cannot say that about too many bands or musicians, PF has that mastered too.

@SkullCeations The 1st album Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. 2 and a half songs on the second album Saucer Full Of Secrets. If you ask me, the 1st album was the best and the second one REALLY feels The ABSENCE of Syd Barrett. 2nd album is SO empty without him. Listen to the 1st one. You'll like it.

@RadioUgly You're right, there is something big missing in the second album. But interestingly (and sadly), I feel like Pink Floyd thrived on Syd's departure. There was so much emotion within the band, I mean this whole album was practically dedicated to him. Tragedy brings out the best in artists, it just took some time for Waters to develop that in the music.

'Dark side of the moon' has always been regarded by the critics as being Floyd's best work... but for me... 'Wish You Were Here' is the absolute pinnacle... it's just a bloody beautiful album.

I am an artist and I find the music of Pink Floyd to be especially conducive to my work. I need something extended, not a random playlist or a series of singles. I need something that takes me deep, makes me forget what I'm listening to because it's hitting the subconscious, and then when I least expect it rises up in a swell of sheer sonic beauty enough to give me pause, sending shivers up the spine. It is sad that the Complete Album is a lost art; Pink Floyd are definitive Masters of the form.

The Pink Floyd concert was billed as "The Dark Side of the Moon" concert, but the band played many songs from their new album, "Wish You Were Here." It was an evening of fun, excitment, great music and a wonderful light show including their huge round movie screen and the crash of the rocketship on the "dark side of the moon".

Sad to see the days of the album are gone. Now it's all just mp3s. But the album allowed some artists' listeners to reach a deeper, more meditative level of musical experience. I saw an interview with Vangelis today and he said music is increasingly less beautiful, because it is more and more being used for other things. You can't do that with an entire album. This record and Pink Floyd's work generally are testament to the grandeur of the form, now passed into history....

@keiichan713 SOPA can't do anything until it's been approved and put in place. There hasn't even been a vote on it yet in Congress. While I think SOPA is a terrible thing in and of itself... it's a bit of a stretch to be blaming copyright infringement issues on youtube on a bill that hasn't been enacted yet.
