And considering the historicity of Christ wasn't even really contested until around the early 18th century, previous writers to that general held to His historicity. Contemporary today I would recommend Mark Allan Powell if you want to look into the variety of historians that affirm, but still debate the nature of, Christ's historicity.

Why has there been a shift between the first group arguing and the latter group saying it's unarguable (as in it can not now be proved or disproved). (p.s. most people believe in the Bible for reasons other than historicity. The Bible is more than a history book)
