  • Question: If he's going into politics, why the hell are discussing his sex prefs!? If you have a platform to speak from, then whether or not you like holes or poles is completely irrelevant! >:(

  • I bet that its only gay people that dislike these type of videos, because you just cant stand people actually doing whats right, and are happy with their decision.

  • @uramasterpiece3 how is what they are doing wrong?

  • @TheBgoz I didn't say it was wrong, I just believe that some people choose to not be gay, and thats ok, also being gay is ok 2, I was just expressing thats its simply easier to leave the homosexual lifestyle behind, or keep it, depending on what they believe, and them trying to change their own belief in something will only make it harder on themselves....

  • @uramasterpiece3 how can someone choose not to be gay? did you choose to be straight? i sure as hell didn't...i just am.

& it's not really their beliefs - it's their natural urges. they can be so consumed by beliefs that promote fear that they can (arguably) ignore these natural urges.

  • @TheBgoz There is a process one can go through, mostly mental, that allows a gay person to be straight. Mind over matter in a way. I know. I left the gay lifestyle behind and am now as happy as can be.

  • @TheArtsyJustin ok buddy...that's worrying :S

  • @TheBgoz ...Because homosexuality is, for the most part, a choice.

  • Dislike whoever and whatever you want but don't try and force your bullshit on the rest of the world

  • This is a sad, deluded man. To see people moving in a more-hopeful direction, watch the YouTube videos:

  • @Ranokian

Don't let occasional same-sex attractions discourage efforts to change. They r in direct proportion to past habituation

  • If you choose to have un-protected, promiscuous sex and contract HIV and subsequently AIDS you have nobody to blame but yourself James. Don't blame homosexuality for your poor judgement. You're an adult, you have the responsibility to protect yourself.

Also you are still gay. You're not fooling anyone.

  • @Ranokian omg what do u think of bi ppl?

  • Very sad man.

  • He wasn't "involved in homosexuality." He was involved in unprotected sex! Use a condom!

  • Well how "ex"gay are you exactly? Are you still attracted to men, and did you just stop acting on it? If that is the case, you are still gay. I'm sorry to say so, but the word ex gay is so shallow.. Could you please specify ex gay?

  • Religion is the last refuge of the mentally ill

  • On a last note, I don't mind sharing with the thread how AGHAST I am at the typical message of a modern gay youtuber. They can only work with buzzwords and mantra's, know NOTHING, have no historical perspective, no vision of what's going on in society.

All they can say is 'we're here, get used to it, you're a homophobic hater, we've come a long way' and similar garbage.

Gays used to be a lot more fun in the 80s. They weren't whining all the time and they were actually looking for something.

  • ...need to become a religious bigot, an uncritical faithhead to realize this.

Lots of gay men after they hit their 50s know that the life of sex is a trap and a dead end road and that gay culture offers NOTHING ELSE. Abstinence becomes an interesting option when one realizes the lifestyle is all about addiction.

And of course society's hypocritical ideal of marrying men adopting kids from some destroyed African or Asian country is utterly unworkable for a majority of homosexual men...

  • There's nothing but bad movies, Judy Garland and diva-worship and drag, and then NOTHING BUT mindless hedonism. Sex, alcohol, drugs.

Today, the energy of gays is largely being channelled into a controlled effort of social engineering, large quantities of especially young gays using all the buzzwords and mantra's they've ingested from the media and the schoolbanks:

'hate, hater, homophobia, equality, tolerance, accepting diversity, PRIDE...'

It's completely empty and one really doesn't...

  • ...life that are NOT being addressed by politically correct discourse and certainly not addressed by gays themselves: the AIDS scam for one thing, but just look how CONTROLLED gay culture is by authority, IMPOSING on society how we are to view it if we don't want to be branded a 'hater' or a 'homophobe', kind of like the 'anti-semitism' slur that is being thrown around constantly.

A significant problem is THERE IS NO gay culture, it's 'dead' as the famous, overrated essay announced.

  • He's obviously not healthy because judging by his appearance he's ingesting hypertoxic meds. Watch House of Numbers, gays really should be discussing the AIDS-scam rather than 'evil christian bigots'.

People just don't realize how they're being programmed by the media. The ex-gay phenomenon is completely controlled by the media and quite ridiculous: it's all about 'I found Jesus' and then they are found with some cheesy male prostitute.

In reality there are problems with living a gay...

  • When all references to this man suddenly disappear off the ex-gay websites, we'll know he's been caught with a man. Just like all the other 'ex-gays'.

  • awesome testimony. PRASE GOD! HE IS ABLE TO DO THINGS OF THE 'IMPOSSSIBLE'

  • gay isnt the cause of your aids... your stupid decision for condomless sex is the cause..

  • FORMER?

  • Wow the world truly hates to see people do the right thing ! Just a few years ago it was a rare occasion when you'd see a homosexual, nowadays people consider it normal..shame

  • he is still gay.

  • @hyakintos Im not sure what is more difficult to deal with. A straight friend coming out of the closet or a gay friend getting back in...

  • @hyakintos EXACTLY. Just because he hasn't messed around with guys doesn't mean he's not gay!

  • @hyakintos Try getting a reality check. It would do you good. :)

  • Another wack job loony tune!

  • You can be an "ex homosexual" about as much as you can be an ex black or ex tall person. Being gay is a perfectly natural, normal part of life, and it's irrational and ignorant to think being gay, the way God makes you, is "sinful". Accept yourself homosexuality; it's innate, it can't be changed, and it's how God made you. Why argue with God?

  • The devil targets people with weak, corrupt minds, and manipulates them into thinking that groups of God's children (be they gay, black, left-handed or whatever) are "sinful" or "filthy", when in reality, the Lord creates these people exactly the way they are & exactly the way He wants them to be. Satan wants his minions to spread anti-gayrhetoric because it's the only way he can keep people away from God's grace. But in reality, God loves and accepts the gays. Don't fight His will!

  • is there ANY secular way to convert from homo to hetero? i mean seriously

  • @speedx50 I am a gay atheist and I would like to change, please tell me if there is a way that doesnt involve talking to an imaginary friend

  • @MamaMario13 I tell you if you honestly want to change then search with your whole heart you will find God and the way to change .if you want to be released from this all you have to do is pray even if its to an" imaginary" person isnt it worth a try i mean i did and I am an exgay.

  • @speedx50 mate there isn't. and i wouldn't know why you would want to change something about it.

  • @lorofcb2 because I want to, thats why

  • @speedx50 good luck denying who you are for the rest of your life. OR you could just live your life.

  • Comment removed

  • It's really sad to see this. Sacrificing such a deep part of his humanity on an altar of insufficient credibility.

If one respects principle (something greater and better than one's self) they do not believe something simply because they prefer to, or are told to, or are fooled into into it because it is convincingly wrapped and sold as 'principle' such as with the bible. It is sold as credible without actually confirming it. As that would require critical analysis; The antithesis of faith.

  • Of course, you cannot be an "ex-gay" any more than you can be an "ex-black" or "ex-tall". With enough indoctrination, self-loathing, "religious" pressure and societal hatred, anyone can deny, suppress, reject, and ignore his innate self, but in the end, since you can't change who you are, what's the point?

  • "I was involved in homosexuality..." LMAO.

  • James Hartline never admits he is a former gay man but rather someone who chooses not to act on his desires and impulses but they are not eradicated and it is dishonest to state he is a former gay man

listen carefully how he answers the questions

  • James Hartline's powerful testimony if yet another bit of evidence that same-sex attraction can be resisted. In his case he resisted, abandoned it, turned his life over to Christ -- whose powerful Atonement is able to lift the battered soul out of sin and rescue him. God bless him for his tenacity and willingness to stand up and be counted!

  • Why don't we lay blame in the right place? The man contracted HIV from practicing unsafe sex, not gay sex. Many gay people are living healthy, happy lives. He says he has no desire for the "lifestyle", but he never says he has no same sex attractions. This is what ex-gay therapy does to people; it confuses behavior and innate being to try and get you to act the way the church wants you to. But if he's happy living in denial, more power to him I guess...

  • I find it interesting .. the sliding around her question .. When she asks if he is a former gay .. notice how he answers .. NEVER ONCE does he say he is a former gay man. Of course he doesn't. There is no such thing as a former or ex gay. I guess it doesn't matter much since we all know how the election turned out .. but I find it interesting with all so called "ex gay" people and organizations, how completely lacking in integrity and honesty they are. Slip sliding around ....

  • @LifterwiII "I just decided to leave that lifestyle" 1:08 "I've had the opportunity to live my life out not being involved with that lifestyle anymore" 1:12 "Well [AIDS] was a consequence of living in my FORMER life" 1:24 "I have absolutely no desire for that life anymore" 1:54. He clearly states that he is no longer a homosexual; speaking more eloquently does not affect the validity of his conversion.

  • Some say wait on the Lord, others try and fight it themselves, I say do both. We can do nothing without the Lord, but we can try to fight the urges. There are some that become eunichs for the Kingdom. "That become" means choice. I think there is a process in becoming. We must accept those that are becoming but reject those that want to stay homosexuals and be accepted as if it was. Im young but this issue seems a no brainer, the bible says its wrong, so it is.

  • The being bored comment is probably inappropriate, but I get inpatient sometimes, and for that I apologize. But it is funny how it seems that once we reach a certain level of maturity in the Lord some may forget how long that road was to reach it. We must not tolorate the acceptence of homosexuality in the church, but must be patient with those that want to change for the glory of Christ, how many times does a rightoues man fall? But he gets back up! Thats what happens when one is in a battle.

  • when I talk about embracing someone in sin, I mean allowing them to come to the knowledge of Christ, such as attending church service or witnessing to them, Jesus went out seeking the lost sheep of Israel, we bring forth the light with the truth but we do not cast sinners aside at first glance only if they are unrepentant do we disassociate in hopes they will come back or find the truth in Christ. How long did someone bare your faults until you were ready to give up that in which enslaved you.

  • The reason I am commenting so much mostly because Im at home bored, No Im not a Dr. or preacher or theologian, but you dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that scripture was made with the layman in mind, if you just had your bible and the spirit you would be fine, what it says it says. Prove all you want, but I think God is looking for people that will just follow His word and stop looking for every reason to make it more like them.

  • @davejonescue A true servant of the Lord is never bored. It is not man, nor institutions, which qualify the servant of the Lord. It is the Holy Spirit who equips, qualifies and calls the man into service to God.

  • There will always be outlets for those seeking to deny the truth and rather accept a lie. Like churches and preachers who will marry homosexuals, fine get your blessings from them, the only reason this is a major issue is the push for legalizing Gay marriage and equal rights to gays is in the forfront of the media. In Jesuses time the act to the Jewish communities was hardly thought of, let alone punishable by death. But there is mention of it in the bible, and where it is mentioned its forbiden

  • You either believe what the bible says or you dont, or you do but try to twist it to fit your own agenda, if someone speaks out about it, they are intolerant, good, there are some things we should intolerant about. Not that we (the church) should be intolerant of homosexuals, but rather not tolerate the act or thought of allowing homosexual practice to be an acceptable practice in the christian community, it is vulger to think to replace a man/woman marriage with man/man or woman/woman.

  • You do not have to be world renowned to be right, the church should embrace a person in the sin of homosexuality, but not conform to society and say the act is appropriate. If after a period of time the person is unrepentant, they should be asked to leave, the same with all sexual immorality, whether sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, incest, etc. The bible says that in the end times things will be like this, it is no surprise, trying to make wrong right, is happening before our eyes.

  • @davejonescue Nowhere in the Bible does it say that we are supposed to embrace a person in their sin. The Bible says that we are to cast down vain imaginations & everything that rises up against the true knowledge of God. Jesus did not negotiate with demons, but He did cast them out. True love does not enable a man to stay a captive while the man continues in sin. Rather, true love delivers the man from sin. Co-existing with the darkness will lead a man to be taken captive by such darkness.

  • @MrJamesHartline James, I'm curious. I have seen a number of your videos from your appearances at City Hall in San Diego, and I have talked with several of my friends who live in your City. What sort of a response do you get to your presentations or appearances, not sure what to call them. Do people respond favorably to Christ because of your sharing or what? I live here in Northern California so I am unable to see first hand how things in southern CA are going.

  • @MrJamesHartline And what if you are living in sin now? You are denying what is given to you by God, you are denying your own nature.

  • I need to correct my bottom statement Dr.Gagnon dosnt affirm the acceptance of homosexuality in the church, he proves why it is not acceptable. Taking the points from the pro-gay movement, such as it means pedaphelia, they didnt comprehend long term relationship,by prostotutes, etc. And shows why it is still wrong. A very good speaker, and historian/theologian. I was blown away by the depth of his lectures. Touching on all aspects of the argument. A must see for any interested or questoning this.

  • @davejonescue It is impossible for Dr. Gagnon to prove that homosexuality isn't acceptable in church, other than his own church. He can't be all that well respected since he seems to only be known among a very limited group of people, particularly fundamentalists who can't see through his obsession with homosexuality. It has been my 40 year observance that such obsession invariably reveals his own homosexuality and self hatred.

  • @davejonescue Pedaphelia .. and prostotutes ... I am assuming that you mean Pedophilia and Prostitution? Is there a reason why you don't speak of gluttony and morbid obesity, Dave? Just curious. As for homosexuality being equated with pedophilia and prostitution .. I can't quite figure out what on earth you are saying. You aren't also a Dr., are you?

  • Gay marriage may be a fact in every state, so what, just because the culture accepts something doesnt mean the church should. You should watch Dr. Rob Gagnon, I did last night, and it just reaffirms what I am saying, as well as the points of the pro-gay agenda in the church. I dont care how long gays have been in a relationship, its still wrong, and again scripture clearly states this. If you go to his website there are links to hour+ lectures dealing in depth with this issue.

  • @davejonescue No gay person I know is asking "the church" .. specifically the fundamentalist church, to bless anything. To me the Fundamentalist church is utterly irrelavent to anything regarding society, and my own church DOES welcome and embrace all people. I have no idea who Rob Gagnon is .. however, his view of what you call "pro gay agenda" in the church is meaningless, unless it is his own church (I assume that his Doctorate is in the area of theology?).

  • I feel for those that love someone but cant be with them. Im straight, but do you think it is right for me being saved to marry an unsaved woman. No. I could love this woman with all my heart, but who am I to say whether she will come to the Lord, I cant make her. So when those in the Gay community act as if you they are the only restricted, just know all that are saved give up something, most of the time something they love, and for what, to do what is pleasing to the Lord. Its just part of it

  • @davejonescue There are any number of LGBT Christians who are in spousal relationships that they have been committed to for many decades of their lives. Gay marriage IS going to be a fact in all states, likely within the next 10 years, and again I would encourage you to realize that there is not one prohibition of gay marriage in scripture .. actually no mention of homosexuality as we know it, at all.

  • Its funny,I am now in a ongoing debate with one of the commenters here whether God thinks a man should be with a man or woman with woman, the Bible clearly states it wrong, God said they will not acknowledge Him so he gave them over to a debase mind to do unto themselves what is shameful, so be it. I am not your judge, God is, though it is my duty to say it is wrong to those that do believe in Jesus, if you are not saved it isnt surprising, but if you are, at least acknowledge your error.

  • @davejonescue Dave ... please don't state that the bible "Clearly" states any such thing. You are the one who is in error as you lift a handful of verses out of their context attempting to prove the validity of your view. The first three chapters of Romans forms a comprehensive context with chapter one dealing with the Pagan Fertility cults of Gentile Rome (particularly the cult of Cybele), chapter 2 dealing with the Jews and three presenting CHRIST which is the valid answer for both groups.

  • Forgive my spelling, I have heard the aurgument that what paul was really talking about was pedophelia when refering to homosexuality. But just look at nature, a man was not created to share the same sexual intercourse with each other as with a woman. Can a man be attracted to another man, yes, is he wrong for being temped in that way, no. But us Christians each have a walk, and we must choose to, with the help of the Spirit, fight what ever urges us to go outside of Gods will.

  • I recieved an email from Lifterwill stating that homosexuality is not stated as wrong in the bible. I am not even going to qoute the scripture's, well yes I am, Leviticus 20:13, Leviticus 18:22, 1Corinthians 6:9, 1Timothy 1:10, all state that homosexuality is wrong. Just like sex outside of marriage or fornication. If people sin why not just admit it instead of trying to change the bible, Im a Christian, but when I get a tattoo I know its wrong, I dont try to change the bible for my preffrences.

  • @davejonescue Interesting that you would recieve an email from me, since I have no idea at all what your email address is. You can quote all of those verses (as well as the ones you forgot to include), however not one of them is addressing homosexuality as we know it. Both of the OT cites are referring to the Pagan Fertility cult worship of Canaan that involved both gay and straight cult prostitution, and I Corinthians refers to Pedophilia which, of course, is a violation of a child. (more)

  • @davejonescue The I Timothy passage isn't dealing with anything same sex at all; yet it does refer to those who are morally "soft", or amoral .. without a moral compass. There are people who are heterosexual as well as those who are homosexual who might fit that description. None of your quotes sustain any honest teaching that scripture speaks against homosexuality.

  • @namasteywhat Using the name "Namaste" and acting like that? tsk tsk!! Not only am I not blind nor an idiot, I am solidly confident that I am FAR from being wrong. I would encourage you to spend some time meditating on the meaning of the word "Namaste". Your insulting comments do not bring honor to the word or the concept.

  • @namasteywhat Hmmm .. is English your first language or did you just fail spelling in school?

  • @namasteywhat I do agree with you .. the "god" of Fundamentalism can do anything .. unlike the God of Scripture and intelligent reason. Your bullcrap figures re: Dr. Spitzer only work with people who haven't taken the time to know better. You have no ground to stand on whatsoever, other than the fairy tale fantasies of a religious faith (fundamentalism) that isn't taken seriously at all by mainstream Christianity. I am, by the way, a Christian, not an Evangelical or Fundamentalist.

  • @namasteywhat In the forty years that I have been dealing closely with the so called 'ex gay" movement, and knowing people into the hundreds who have gone through Exodus and Love in Action programs .. there is one consistent factor. Not ONE of them is "ex gay". Even the founders of Exodus and many well known former leaders of these organizations will tell you, with absolute credibility, that there is no such thing as a former or "ex" gay.

  • Just curious .. is this a "Christian" television station? I am not from San Diego so I don't know.

  • @LifterwiII KUSI is a major secular television station in San Diego.

  • @MrJamesHartline I am actually pretty amazed that a secular station would do this sort of an interview. Of course I don't know your campain or what it was .. perhaps like Huckabee and Palin you run on a Fundamentalist agenda. Interesting.

  • Most people don't know that I suffer early in the morning and it takes alot out of me to get going. That was the case when I got up at 4am to eventually get to the studio to do this live interview that was broadcast all over San Diego. God helped me even though I had no idea that I would be questioned on homosexuality this way instead of my city council campaign.

  • @namasteywhat I said credible scientific evidence. That particular study has been descredited and the American Psychiatric Association has distanced itself from it. In an case even the discredited Spitzer found that cases where someone actually changed their sexuality were extremely rare. Might I suggest you youtube "former ex gay leaders apologize" for a more realistic view of the ex gay fraud

  • @padraigomairtin That is a terrific video, Padra 'Former ex gay leaders ..." a couple of those people are personal friends of mine. Michael Bussee is a great guy, and such a man of integrity. Interestingly I knew of him in his "ex gay" days ... and now know him since he and Gary left that movement in the 70s. Darlene Bogle is another fine individual. There are so many more who were formerly well known leaders in the so called "ex gay" movement .. some whose names I cannot mention

  • @namasteywhat there is absolutely no credible scientific evidence that sexuality can be changed.

  • the bible says homosexuality is wrong, whether born that way or not, we must come to a choice, if we love Christ, whether we feel being gay is the way we were born, is Christ worth giving up what we love the most. I commend this man of God, for expressing and testifying to the power of Christ. It is not pathetic to see the error of ones ways and fight to correct those wrongs.

  • @davejonescue There is not a single verse of scripture in the Bible that says homosexuality per se is wrong. This is a subject I have studied, researched and taught for a very long time, and I don't have the slightest hesitation in saying that you are in error when you say that scripture is against homosexuality.

  • @LifterwiII You don't know the Bible or what it says or doesn't say about homosexuality. This is evident by the fact that you constantly use profanity when making comments. I would encourage you to "study, research and teach" what the Bible says about using foul language when making your outlandish claims of theological scholarship and faulty statements about imposing YOUR biased assumptions on who has and has not left the sin of homosexuality.

  • @MrJamesHartline I am SO much more aware of what the bible says regarding Homosexuality than you or most of your friends will ever know. For many years I researched & did seminars on this very topic, and I actually understand why you throw up the "foul language" red herring when you comment to me regarding my "ignorance" regarding this topic. In your shoes I would, no doubt., do the same thing. I have dealt with "ex gay" people for over 40 years now .. and nothing you say surprises me.

  • @MrJamesHartline Over the decades I have known hundreds of people who have at some point been a part of the so called "ex gay" movement .. and not a single one is formerly gay. If you were honest, you would say that you have made the choice to not act on your affections or attractions. You are not in any way "ex gay" you are celibate (at least I assume you are celebate). My biased assumptions re: the ex gay phenomenon are solidly based on facts and proven case study.

  • On one level I admire Mr Hartine for discussing his HIV positive status and helping people with HIV. However on another level the guy is really quite pathetic. He is not "Ex Homosexual" just "Repressed Homosexual" there is a difference. You can be gay and not live irresponsibly i.e. you can be gay and safe. As for the bible perhaps Mr Hartine should watch this video posted by SuchIsLifeVideos. Youtube "What does the Bible say about Homosexuality?"

  • @padraigomairtin Applause to you for saying so well exactly what I am thinking.
