None of his records are individually bad, although when looking at his discography as a whole, there's an extreme lack of diversity. He still manages to innovate his genre at times, though. Elephant Man's Alarm Clock was something new and so was Population Override.

No. I am very well-aware of the large amount of genres he's categorized in, but that alone doesn't make him any less repetitive.

Yes, his shredding is repetitive, but tight and precise. Couldn't name a shredder that isn't repetitive, actually. Perhaps Lane, but that's way back.

More music =/= more diverse.

more genres = more diverse. shawn isn't the only non-repetitive shredder. allan holdsworth, bumblefoot, jason becker, and guthrie govan are all very anti-repetitive when it comes to their shredding. to switch genres you need to switch up your game to. that's just a fact and that makes you less repetitive. there are those who escape patterns and there are those who can make individual patterns sound completely different. buckethead is the latter.
