  • I have heard this song my ENTIRE life but I totally understood the power of the words after I gave birth to my son amazing.

  • Im afraid that being a good parent can be very difficult, I have loved my two, tried to teach them my ideals about what is right, what is wrong, thats the easy bit,in there eyes we end up only old people that dont know much, funny though this is exactly what I did, so on and on we go down the path of life generation after generation still not learning much at all, when the real truth is right there in front of us and we are to dumb to see it.

  • I am officially addicted to Sweet Honey in the Rock!

  • Beautiful Ladies i wish u went viral instead of stupid racist ppl on trams

  • saw them do this in concert in New York in 84

    - awe inspiring - life changing,

    my rock has been permanently sweetened.

  • @Wilmuspop: thanks for that; I'd never seen it.

  • Gibran's passage just after these lyrics is even more powerful:

    "You are the bows from which your children

    as living arrows are sent forth.

    The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,

    and He bends you with His might

    that his arrow might fly swift and far.

    Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

    For even as He loves the arrow that flies,

    so He loves the bow that is stable."

    Boo hoo sob sob snivel (make me cry every time)

  • I love how they arrange Khalil Gibran's poem into a song.

  • Every parent needs to hear this song, every parent.

  • Blessed Be!

  • Gibran, you live through music, through the lives you have touched, and most importantly you live through the love that you have extended throughout all times and space. I love you and I am so grateful.

  • Thanks for posting this song.. this was a favorite of my mother's and now that's she's no longer with us, and I am now a mother itz a favorite of mine.

  • you can give them your love but not your hope;

    They are with you but not of you

    You can house their bodies but not their souls

    You can try to be like them but you cannot make them like you'

    What wisdom and what beautiful singing....

  • love them, love this song. thanks for postings this.

  • I heard this through Baldwin Wallace chorus. Beautiful then and neautiful now.
