Hi Dean, I live in the Netherlands, but the Geji Geji (house centipede or scutigera coleoptrata) doesn't inhabit our region. I found it in the warehouse where I work. They live in south america, the mediterranean and as you found out yourself in asia. The body of Scutty (my centipede) is about half the size of the one you found. So good catch ;-)
I laughed my arse off cause of your reaction. The poor scutigera is more frightened for you. This is a big one btw. I've found one in some goods from asia and keeping it succesfully as pet for almost a year now, but it is half as big as this one.
@ericipericie Hi Eric, yeah I sounded such like a girl in that video. Just out of curiosity, which country are you in? I want to know where else these little fellas are found?
Really? Was it a big one or something. I was always told that the small like 1-2 inch ones aren't usually capable of penetrating skin. The one he recorded looks like it might be big enough to though. And I definitely know foot long centipedes can bite HARD. ;\ I better not try handling house centipedes in the future if it's true.
HA, they are so scary looking. But I am man enough to step up and catch one net time. I will be in south Africa next week, maybe I will find one there. Who knows. No one has reported one from there yet. Maybe I will be the first to do so .
Hey, I would love to go back to Japan. And I would definitely record more Geji Geji. However I have heard there are some in other parts of the world. Canada is one place. So I will record more when I go to other countries. Stay tuned.
Ya I see em here all he time but they're uglier looking and grayish and don't have that nice sleek color that the one you recorded here does. They are referred o as "House centipedes" in the US and apparently came from Mexico or something. If you see any varieties in Canada upload them plz.
that's not a bug! i'm pretty sure it's a MONSTER! i feel lucky cuz we don't have these fuckers here in Brazil... lol at least i have never heard about em...
really? if Canada has them, then USA should too? anyways i lived in Japan, the other one thats more dangerous is MUKADE. just use insect killer around your homes, and ask your apartment manager to have the whole building treated and youll be fine.
Another reason for me to STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM JAPAN.

Yeah the mukade's are a bit more dangerous. Actually mukade are centipedes but grow about 100 times bigger in Japan than here in Canada.
