iLOVE old Gap commercials, so I can't believe I didn't remember this one! I'm obsessed with this scene from "Sweet Charity" & Beyonce's tribute to it in the "Get Me Bodied" video, so I lost my mind when I found this! Gap needs their old advertising people back!!! I think the last great Gap commercial was the Audrey Hepburn "Funny Face" one with AC/DC music.
It is so funny that Gap used the whole 60's mod thing, the clothes were so colorful and crazy then, but you have the models in Gap's boring clothes-its a total juxtaposition.
This is by far, the BEST GAP commercial ever! I just love the guy in the middle at the beginning - his moves have made me smile ever since I first saw the add in 1999 - awesome!!!!
It's called Wild Elephants by James Clarke and you can get it on the Blow Up Exclusive Blend vol 2 CD (where it is sometimes retitled as Blow Up a Go Go)
Bob Fosse? Really? That's interesting. What I meant was the revival into popular media can be attributed to Mike Myers but I suppose everything has a second act.
Gay and proud people.

The dance routine can be seen in "Sweet Charity" when Shirley MacLaine walks into a uber-snobby club!

Best GAP advert to date! Everyone I knew did the dance to it when it came on the TV. I'd love it if they brought this back on TV!

Owes 100% to Mike Myers and Austin Powers

Actually, it's an homage to Bob Fosse's "Rich Man's Frug" — from the swinging wrists to the flailing ponytail... Well done, though! :)
