  • What's the curtain for? sound proofing?

  • @Zhorellski Oh that was a background used for a video project a while back...

  • How's the Tech 21 comparison? are these better sounding?

  • can u play without plugging it into a computer or anything just the guitar and pocket amp?

  • @heavymetal162 Yeah! :-)

  • Where can you buy this?

  • @braddakimo1954 I think their website might have dealers links...

  • does this have its own speakers?

  • @Invader12100 No speakers, it's really an amp simulator that you plug in a sound card for example...

  • I notice that you're using the headphone out and not the XLR or 1/4 inch jack. Since a headphone jack is not a line-level output aren't you colouring the sound?

  • @tcfween Good point, I never thought of that... I'll try again with the XLR next time.

  • F*** yeah you have a Parker guitar!

  • Good video but what about clean sounds?

  • @macpips I'll make another one with cleans. :-)

  • I want to use that preamt live. How does it work with distortion pedals? Can I boost it with an Overdrive for example?

  • @TheFlynnKybo It takes pedals really well I think.

  • This might sound like a stupid question... and maybe it is... but...

Does this thing really sound as good as it can be heard here and on other youtube videos? Sometimes these things can sound thin and fizzy and plastic... I may buy one, for recording purposes... Right now I'm using TH2, which you have also tried... So, what can you tell me, is the Palmer a yes or a no? Any cons/weak spots about it? Have you tried boosting it with an overdrive in front? Many questions, but please answer some. :)

  • @Metal22God I think it depends of what you want to do with it. I love it because it's really convenient to try new pedals and such. If you have pedals you want to use, I like the Palmer. But if you just want to record good tones and have a variety of options, I would go with a software..

  • @Wallimann thanks. i'll think about it some more...

  • does it play the guitar directaly out of the pocket amp, ot does it have to be pluged into computer?

  • @triestoskate Needs to be plugged...

  • @Wallimann aww, okie, ima check out the marshall ms-2 seams deacent

  • yeah I would really like to hear some clean sounds of this "amp"... and a drive demo with the suhr pedal and the pocket amp!

would this thingy be cool to use with an active monitor in a "live" situation? I know it's cheap, but that would be awesome if it actually would work..

  • @MyLifeChanger I really need to get on that clean sound video sometime!

It would work with an active monitor, yeah...

  • @Wallimann that would be awesome... but would it sound any good with an active monitor or would it sound like shit? would I be much better off with a pod or something like that instead?

  • @MyLifeChanger The pod is different in the sense that it has effects and more amps... The Palmer really shines for a good dry tube like sound... But it would sound good for live purposes.

  • Any chance of a clean demo? I'm not much into heavy distortion.........

  • @sanctuarysucks Yeah, I'll try to get one done. :-)

  • Well thats pretty neat...

  • How much dinaro?

  • @Wolf4u2 I think about $120? Not sure. I'll try to find out!

  • Nice review!!! why do you use the phones output and not the xlt output??

  • @fabbass51 Just because I wanted to record directly on my computer (without using the Eleven Rack). Easier to video edit at the end. :-)

  • @Wallimann merci pour la réponse!!^^

  • I love your videos but I think this thing sounds gross. I love palmer products generally, I love the junction, I wish I could get there ADIG-LB but this thing...no way. It sounds like you plugged into a pair of mittens.

  • @thecompletejake Hehe! I'm glad you saw this review then! :-D

Thansk so much for watching my videos, it means a lot!

  • That is so cool!

  • @TheFireball100 It really is a cool device!

  • Great as always! I might just buy this. You should get money off all these brands if you don't already xP Question : Is this good for Classic 80's Metal and other Heavy styles? Would this sound anything near the direct output of a AMT Electronics California Sound? Thanks! You Rock!

  • @TaxiToHell It's a very useful tool. It does great for heavy tones. I don't have any experience with the AMT though...

  • @Wallimann Thank you, you're the best!

  • please subscribe!

  • contest-time, yeah!!! :D

  • But will it bl

  • Good thing they sent you one I can't find any store that will carry this.

  • @tcshea I'll ask them for supplier addresses and post it in the description of this video. :-)

  • What's the price of it?

  • @Tori965 Not sure. I think under $140...

  • Behringer V-Tone GDi21

  • Awesome video! Your contest sounds pretty cool, but unfortunately I don't play guitar, I play Bass. Also, the end clips that you've been putting on your videos lately saying subscribe, are looking a little desperate. I've tried doing that myself before, and it really doesn't add anything to it, it just gets annoying. I've found that simply asking people to subscribe works well enough, without drilling it into them a second time.

  • @Vdeogamer Thanks man!

I actually had a really big boost in subs since doing these... :-)

  • this might be ridiculous but, can i use this live? straight to PI?

  • @sild123 of course you can

  • @sild123 Yeah, sure!

  • Looks like the classic Sansamp.

  • why would someone need this when there are some elevenRack that can emulate amp pretty fine ?

  • @gaud2029 This is waaaaay cheaper. :-D

  • Are these available to buy? Google came up empty and I'd much rather have one of these than a Line 6 Pocket Pod.

  • @PantomimeHorseMusic Yeah, contact them directly on their Facebook page: Palmer.Germany

They are fast to answer and will give you leads. :-)

  • 3:40 weren't you against shred? Jusy joking :-)

By the way, do you use your eleven rack as a midi interface to plug your sonnus G2M?

  • @ViniciusMPepino Haha! Good call for the shred. :-)

Yeah, I use my Eleven Rack for midi (Sonuus and Keyboards...)

  • Let's see how it sounds? Haha I can see that! Just kidding. Nice review David!

  • @NewMetallica Haha! Yeah, I think my French is coming out... :-)

  • Two things. 1) does this come with a 1/4inch cable to connect to the pc and 2) is it possible to use this in conjunction with software on your pc for example TH2 Overloud? Once again thanks for the great videos :)

  • @xmalanicx Thanks for watching!

No, this doesn't come with the cable... You can use it with TH2, but you need to have a low latency audio interface. This acts pretty much like a pedal and is not a sound card.

  • @xmalanicx thanks alot for the speedy reply and the info. Looks like Ill be better off getting a Fast Track M-audio then. Salut!

  • Very convinient, but not for the serious recorder or Youtuber ;-) Awesome playing tho Dave!

  • Nice Review.. I have to say though, this reminds me of the Tech21 sansamp.. almost sounds like it frankly (ie. Old school, and somewhat outdated). I can see it having some uses, but it boils down to price I think.

  • @Dreamfullofzen Thanks man! Yeah, it is based on the same principle.

  • So if you have a Multi effect connected to the computer ? is this box can be useful ?

  • @ahchouch It depends if your multi effect has amp simulation or not...

  • @Wallimann

    i have a zoom G9.2tt that's it work good with it ?

  • @ahchouch Yeah, it should work great. Just disable the amp modeling on the zoom in order to use the Pocket amp.

Keep in mind that the Pocket Amp is not a sound card! You would need one to connect it to your computer.

  • Why do you think this box is "very responsive just like your tube amp would be"?

  • @Dimitriyus It feels like you're moving some air through the speakers when you play. Doesn't feel dull like certain amp modelers do.

  • Looks like the Sansamp.... sounds ok, not as good as I thought.... thanks for the review anyway.

  • @toraliens Thanks for watching!

  • Very nice ending, if I could subscribe a second time I would ;)

Looking forward to the new contest. :)

  • @roryrockssocks Hehe! Thanks buddy!

  • For low latencies, I use a USB interface. You can get one from M-Audio, or, if you're on a very low budget, a Behringer UCA202 can help, although it's a low end audio device (16 bit - 44100Hz).

I would like to see a Bass version of this DI. I know about some already in the market, but the cab microphone placement is a feature I would like to see.

    By the way... Great review!

  • @rockwoofer Thanks a lot man!

  • It's basically clone of tech21 GT-2, am i right?

  • @MartyEct Same principle, yeah.

  • i dont really like this pedal dave... :/ but that's my opinion..

  • @piccicacca It's ok man, my feelings are not hurt in the least. :-D

  • @Wallimann and hey daaave! do one of those jams you did on a certain Bible verse! really like that! how abouut somewhere in Genesis 1? thatd be an interesting one! xD

  • Hey David, Any chance you could do a quick addendum giving a sense of the cleaner or slightly driven sounds?

  • @GuitarFuYou Oh yeah, I'll do that. :-)

  • where can I get this?

  • @iwarbride Check out our website palmer-germany go to dealer search and then choose USA. You'll find pretty many shops. Or write to us info at palmer-germany Cheers!

  • Great review!

  • @Epsilon3G Thanks!

  • I bet you are running out of idea's quickly for the "Please Subscribe". But I really enjoyed it nonetheless :)

And thnaks for the review I found it an interesting concept.

  • @Vercingetorix Haha! Yeah, I know man. It's fun to come up with the ideas though. :-)

  • You plugged it to an audio interface?.... is not clear to me how is connected to your computer.

  • @diazluisdiaz There is a XLR out and a headphones out. He can use either of those to go into either an audio interface or directly into a soundcard input jack which is usuall 1/8 th inch like the headphone jack on the Pocket Amp.

  • @diazluisdiaz Actually for this I plugged the headphones out of the Pocket amp to the soundcard's input.

  • i laughed so hard at that ending... very well done. my jaw came unhinged.

  • @itowedin Hehe! Thanks man!

  • Please do a tutorial of that awesome lick you played with the sweep and the tapping and nice review btw

  • @finners007 I will. :-)

  • is it me or does it sound really muddy and maybe boomy? noticed it a bit with the other thingy that you demoed that went between the power amp and the speaker.

  • @heminder The treble was quite low. Maybe that's why?

  • I have a question. Normally when plug my guitar directly to my pc I get a lot of lag. Would this kill it?

Thanks and awesome item, very useful, and awesome video

  • @SjPedro Two things you might try is adjusting your audio buffer settings to your soundcard. The lower the buffer rate, the faster you will hear the note played. The other is try to get an affordable interface. There are many that plug in via USB now that can achieve 5 ms latency or less. If you can afford a firewire interface, many of those will playback in real time just like an amp.

  • @SjPedro No, it wouldn't unfortunately. You would need a low latency soundcard.

  • @SjPedro the line 6 ux2 works really well for direct in

  • @towardstheshadows thanks for the suggestion :)

  • Hey Wallimann,

Yeah but I already have a GT2 clone with an XLR output - a Behringer GDI21, and it sounds great. It's not in an aluminum case but I've never had a problem with it and it was inexpensive.

  • @tcshea Cool man. :-)
