@johnmorph78 it would be similar to replacing the power jack. remove the motherboard and unsolder the old one then solder the new one. May have to remove the old one to be able to find a replacement.
I was watching another video on youtube about soldering these jacks and he said he used superglue to help reinforce it since the solder might not be strong enough for the jack. does this sound like a good idea?
@tinygangster66 They need to be glued down as well as soldered. The solder joints can't handle the stress from bumping the cord around while plugged in.
Hey, you seem like an informed guy. I have a d250 AAO netbook. The headphone jack will play low and high tones but not midrange ones... like talking, or the average singer. The builtin speakers work fine. I assume it's a capacitor issue or something with the jack. Is there a way to fix this, or am I just fucked? I assume it would be a soldering job, but I have no idea where to get a replacement jack.
@NDanteDouglas If the headphones produce sound out of both sides I doubt there is a problem with the jack. Sounds more like a settings or driver issue. When you have your headphones hooked up you can go into control panel then sound and audio then go to the audio tab and go to advanced. Change the speaker settings.
@NDanteDouglas I really don't think capacitors could cause the problem. Its probably some small surface mount component on the sound card portion of the motherboard or there may be a small circuit board for the headphone jack.
@striker543211 Sounds like your hard drive died or ypu lost the windows partition. Try putting in your restore CDs and see if they work. If the hard drive is dead, you will need to replace it.
what is the problem in may acer travelmate 3260, theres no sound output if i using headphone, but they have sound in there own speaker? can u healp me? tnx

My acer aspire 4720Z won't charge and it's burning the charger tips. Do you think replacing the jack would help or do I need a new battery?
KakashiFrk 6 months ago
@KakashiFrk hard to say, most likely the jack. Does the battery still hold a good charge? Does it still burn the tips if you leave the battery out?

the acer company probably barely tightens the dc power jack because this same problem occured in both of my acers : 2480 travel mate
and a 5735 aspire

@mjmcomputers I would agree, but I've tested this with Windows, Ubuntu, Puppy, and Backtrack and the issue shows up in each OS. Any ideas?

You may have a virus, download malwarebytes anti-malware and run a scan. Also try ccleaner to cleanup temp files.
