I can kind of seeing this happening for real...Sort of.
Someone like Martin Scorsese who has an eye for this sort of thing, could pick out the smallest "glitches" in even a birthday photo. He's probably a perfectionist. But that's why he makes the movies he does.
yeah, my brother is like that. He is also a film director and at gatherings when everyone else has their little digital cameras, my bro has to whip out this big expensive camera and take like ten different pictures of the same thing while working out the settings and complaining about the lighting. I'm like, take it easy bro it's just a picture.
Come check out a couple of videos! One video is a dark dark comedy involving a love triangle, titled "Dreams of Disenchantment" and the other is about a soldier wanting to go back to war "The Lone Soldier." We worked very hard on these videos and would love comments!
1st of all most of the those directors you talkin about probably were inspired by scorseses innovation.
You see what makes scorsese the greatest director in my opinion is the fact that he can make a perfect film, you may not notice it at first but his films are edited, cut and made with the closest attention to detail;this among other things.
what directors were you talking about anyway? i would like too know.
i remember watching this ad on tv, and i had absolutely no clue whatsoever who he was, and now hes like my all time favorite director!! scorseses' the man!!!
Could be. Or, he already makes a ton of money on every movie he makes (and he can make one whenever he wants) and he made this because it's very funny.
Marty acually uses CGI in his films now. The guys getting killed in the Departed was CGI. Gangs of new york had heaps of CGI. The aviator was fkin CGI all ova da joint meng./
so what? everything advances, buddy.... there's always new technology that sooner or later gets adapted... otherwise, you'd still be having to go to a theatre-and i mean a live theatre, not movie theatre-to watch performances.
EVERY director uses it now! TO either remove a wire, or to strengthen an effect, Christ even GEORGE A ROMERO AND JOHN CARPENTER USE IT! The key is to use it effectively, for example, the King Kong remake. SEAMLESS special effects work there, (not that he compares with mr scorsese)
My favorite living director, and my 3rd favorite counting the dead ones. (After Kubrick and Hitchcock.) I take alot of inspiration from those 3, I hope I can make something anywhere near as good as them one day.
People say I'll never make it, they say those kind of films are "boring" and "dated", un-cultured swines.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this guy here, is the man, the best movies ever, if you watching Mr. S, i would like to be in your next movie I got my skills, plus I know all the lines from goodfellas
I like him better than James Cameron. (Titanic, Terminator, etc. Director, guy with a big head). He seems like a classy, down to earth guy, he's also a great director, I really appreciate his work.
just because a movie is a gangster movie does not mean it's the best movie of all time, or even of that year. just because martin scorsese directs a movie does not mean that the direction was better than in all the other movies that year. with that said, kevin costner winning a best director award was an abomination.
There's no plothole. watch the movie again. sheen is surrounded by nicholson's thugs. no good guys, period. They threw him off the roof because sheen wouldn't spill the beans on who the informant was. Departed is a great movie and Scorsese or the editor, Thelma Schoonmaker, would never make a mistake like creating a plot hole.
I mean you would think it was an even handed fight, worthy of a good struggle, right? noooooooooo, the bad guys somehow managed to right away move the confrontation to a better suited place to fit in with the need to slaughter the Martin Sheen character..look, people wanted Scorsese to win his Oscar, period. The whole thing may have been a blunder by the old editor!
love this commercial - he is the best. Did not think The Departed was his best film but Scorcese is very deserving for previous work. Leo is not Ray Liotta - he and Marky Mark could not really pull it off for me.
WHen the character played by artin Sheen gets thrown off the roof...at the beginning of the scene he is surrounded by both good and bad guys (The guys who would want to push him down to his death and the guys whom would probably protect him) and not only that, there was quite a distance from where they were and the edge of the roof...think about it!
Watch the scene if you have the time and considering the timeline and its constrains whether this scene makes sense to you and why? Like to hear your argument!
Are you kidding me? Departed is a good movie. No doubt. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas are three of the greatest American films EVER made. That Oscar was more of a Lifetime Achievement Oscar for being snubbed by the Academy so many times. No one in film history deserved that Oscar more than Marty.
Thank you! You better know it. That AND Goodfellas. You know Goodfellas lost to freaking Dances With Wolves in 1991 for both Best Picture and Best Director? Oy. I was beside myself. Kevin Costner?? You've got to be kidding me. A crime.
