  • 0:38 Pop corn noise :D

  • I just don't get it...it sounds like a broken dishwasher.

It's easy to mess-up a sound engine by shorting out circuits but I've only seen a few examples of a truly 'bent' synths where the new sounds are musically relevant.

    I just don't get it.

  • @PaulFitzZaland As long as you use terms like "musically relevant" this will never make sense to you. In addition, I've never come across a broken dishwasher that sounds like this, but I don't have a lot of experience with broken appliances I suppose.

This never claims to either make music, or be a musical instrument. Those are your own expectations. It reminds me of someone who found a CD I made of a bunch of noise and emailed me saying "This CD is just a bunch of noise."

  • @heardworld Musically relevant is a fair term when looking at a keyboard which, in most cases, is usually recognized to be musical instrument. Also, beyond the aural equivalent of doodling, I could not see myself using this bent keyboard as part of my music making. Granted, heardworld does not claim to be making music, however, that's my personal expectation of most instruments. Perhaps one could look at it as sound sculpture. Fair enough. I still don't find it pleasing. Cheers!

  • @PaulFitzZaland a broken dishwasher wouldn't "sound", i think they're audible while operational. "musically relevant" doesn't make sense to me. you just listened to it, it's considered a genre. by the way, aleatoric and glitch bends are truly a poster of circuit modification. have you been taking stupid pills?

  • @vassilios620 I'm fresh out of stupid pills. I do however know what I enjoy when it comes to sound. To me, most circuit bent gear sounds like exactly what it is, shorted-out audio equipment. If it were unintentional we'd call it 'broken'.

  • @vassilios620 Yes, the discovery of bend points can take some experience and perhaps even talent. Yes, many circuit bent machines exhibit a high degree of craftsmanship. (S-Cat comes to mind, I love their work) And yes, there are many different definitions and/or expectations of music, sound, and art. However, the fact remains, to my ears the circuit bent keyboard in this video does not sound good. I, personally, would not use/or listen to sounds it produces. That's not stupid, that's an opinion

  • @PaulFitzZaland i was never criticizing your opinion, just your manner of expressing it. there's more to mods than simply connecting two points with a toggle. with enough knowledge you can do almost anything to an analog circuit.

  • @vassilios620 Agreed. In fact, I've been trying to brush-up on my electronics knowledge/skill so I can build my own synthesizer from various sound chips and circuitry. I'm a toy designer by trade and therefor have an abundance of talking/musical toys on hand. (In fact one of my projects, an Elmo's World cell phone has been bent by a few people.) My goal is to make an instrument that can be used to creat sounds and rhythms that I will use in other work. (It has to look cool too!) Cheers!

  • It would be nice to make an insane jam with a few hacked synthetisers and avant-garde instruments.

  • what the fuck...?!!

  • hope you'll die

  • @Khoroshman as opposed to live forever?

  • hola amigo puedes compartime tu circuit bent yo tengo un teclado igual .

i have a same keybord could you gime a copy of yours ?

  • Great job!

    Greetings from Brazil.
