just found out i have this , it is no joke but i am glad i know now . i wonder how long it takes for you to feel better after you stop eating gluten ?
finally after two years, when i was four, a doctor decided to do an endoscopy, where they put a tube down my throat to take a piece of my intestines for a biopsy. my anesthesia wore off and i woke up in the middle of the procedure, and they just left me awake. back then no one even knew what it was, and people have only become aware of it in the past 2-3 years. i've been dealing with it for 15 years now, and it really bothers me how people think it's no big deal. it's anything but simple.
what is she talking about "a simple blood test"? when i was two i became deathly ill, and i stayed that way for two years. i went into malnutrition, and i looked like one of those starving children on those commercials; skin and bones, distended belly. i was basically starving to death because my body couldn't handle what i was eating. no doctor could figure out what was wrong with me.
@lotusblossom15 That's terrible. :/ I just found out last year that I had celiac disease after loosing 20 pounds rapidly, crying on the floor for hours clenching my stomach in pain, could see every bone in my body and my doctor only thought I had acid re-flux. But I got the blood test and there's no false positives. She's right about a simple blood test, it's not that hard to test for the antibodies that cause it. My count for it was over 30 which is really bad D:
I think i have Celiac Disease, but I'm afraid of getting tested and being told I'm not. I might be gluten intolerant, and I don't think they can test for that... only celiac..
I'm afraid of being told crazy yet again when explaining my symptoms, also because I'm 21 yrs old and am told not to complain....
Thumbs up for the announcement, although "a simple blood" test is only half the story. To get a full diagnosis, one also needs to go through a biopsy. I've heard of people whose blood test doesn't even show that they have the condition, although they do. Either way, it's important to get the word out about the condition. I was diagnosed when I was about one year old. By the time the diagnosis came, I was about to die just because a lot of doctors did not know what was wrong with me.
Hello everyone, I just created a website for people with celiac, the site is still under construction but the forums are up and running and I would love to build a nice community within those forums. I am working on building a database with all gluten-free food as well. Check it out at celiacreviews()com with () being the dot of course "."
Celiac disease has also been linked to blood sugar abnormalities(hypoglycemia, diabetes, etc.) and weight gain/obesity. Kudos to this woman for raising awareness of this debilitating autoimmune disease that is probably harming more people than one might think.
you wanna question my "class of breed" again, and then you WONT hear the end of me, otherwise i am done talking to you pieces of scum. ive already made it clear i am the opositte of low class. and im done talking to you
hahahahaha i have more cash in my wallet than you will ever see in your bank account at one time. my father was the partial owner of a major construction company untill he died 2 years ago and now i am swimming in money, and yes, i have a trailer, a 500,000 RV tht sits next to our 5000 square ft house. so do you have any more question about my class before you go off trying to make fun of it again?
This needs some real air time! Celiac can be deadly in the long run and ruins many lives, especially when undiagnosed. I was diagnosed a few years ago, but am just now starting to eat gluten free. I started a blog to document my journey and help others learn. switch2glutenfree

As far as this dipshit reporter it doesn't seem she really missed any damn work it didn't interfere with being a fucking journalist now did it? You know why? because the bitch doesn't have celiac. People with REAL celiac can't go out ANYWHERE they have to be around the toilet at all times because any fat they eat goes right through them along with vitamins. The bitch lost her kid shit happens it wasn't celiac!
I have to say one more time people if your sick and they say ibs and your still sick try this its changed my world in only a few days I have been woke up I was ready to die I'm a different person in 4 days! I suffered for years I mean suffered! sick all the time I want to help anyone I can if you need support email me I been there THANKS youtube you saved my life.I mean thatI really do OH I forgot what it was like to feel good thank you Lord and youtube not the doctors
Hey horsehockey122. Were you given three IV bags full of vitamins? Did you go to the hospital weighing 78 pounds did you look like a concentration camp victim? Were you so weak that you couldn't stand is your growth stunted? My mother's is she almost died from celiac she is 4'11 are you. It took her about 5 yrs after the diet to fully recover so FUCK OFF!
You idiots know NOTHING about Celiac disease. The statistics are only a guess at the POTENTIAL genetic cases like the 1 in 133 bullshit what that means is that only 1 in 133 has the dq 2.5 or the lesser dq 8 gene but that doesn't necessarely mean that because they have the gene that that they have it.

I guess nowadays to get attention people seem to compete with each other in "who's sicker" and this trend includes claiming that you have celiac disease because you think it can't be proved or disproved so that is what you go with. You THINK it's hard to oin down so you USE it for attention.
this shit nearly killed me its robbed me of 20 years of my life I have been on the gluten free diet 4 days! 4 fucking days and I feel better than I have in 20 years,I have been to the doctor thousands of times had stomach sugery every ibs med on the market better late than never! but I wish doctors gave a shit 1 in 133 people have this why does it take them 9 years to let people in on it I had it 20! I found the cure on youtube! THANKS for saving my LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey swifton1 you are a faker. 4 days? ha ha ha ha you lying sack of shit you don't have jack shit. It's not 1 in 133 more like 1 in 2,000 it's obvious Celiac disease is a new "trend" nowadays. It took my mother 5 fucking years to regain her health. She almost died when I was in the second grade.
@skiabamba. I see you just won't quit. You bothered despookyhhr until she blocked you so now you gotta harass me. Well you know what you piece of LOW CLASS garbage? I'm blocking you now. I hate to do it but YOU forced me too. You are just another self diagnosed attention seeker.
What is it? do they even know. is it some kind of Alergy to these products? My GF's Dad has this, and he can't eat wheat, also a few of my co-workers. I thought he meant he had some kind of alergy..?
Celiac's is a disease that is not only highly misunderstood but virtually unknown. When I was diagnosed and told people about it people didn't have the slightest idea what I was talking about. There are many websites now that explain what Celiac Disease is. Google them.
I just wanted to point out that some have not had trouble with it, but the U.S. is far behind in their understanding and awareness of celiac- my daughter was undiagnosed for 8 years and suffered severe physical and nuerological problems- by the time she was 13 she was so sick and was diagnosed as having so many learning disorders-
we were completley lost. Since she has been diagnosed she has experienced a tremendous amount of healing and things are not bad now- we can definitely live with this- but it is the misdiagnoses and the many living undiagnosed and on medications that will not help them that makes this so terrible.
This video made the celiac disease sound quit horrible illness. It made it sound as bad as breast cancer. It's true that if it's not treated, you may not have children...
I have had celiac disease for all my life, and it's really not so bad. Well at least here in Finland it's easy to find gluten-free food. But I know that in some european countries you can buy gluten-free food only from farmacy..

I have had symptoms for 5 years..one thing was that if I gorged myself in an evening, the next morning I would wake up with my body--mostly the sides of my torso and thigh muscles but on bad days it would even be in my calves--just tender to the touch
My symptoms were intense intestinal pain, flue like symptoms and anesthetic feel. I also lost all feeling in my left hand and was numb and tinglie in my extremities. Oh ya and migraines that made me tear up weekly. lost my jobs also from to many sick days and it took four years for a diagnoses.
If you have a strange health problem - all the ones mentioned plus, ill health (tonsilitis, sinus), obesity (believe it or not!!) in fact any odd or strange problem GET TESTED and even if it comes up negative GO ON THE DIET for about two and a half weeks - you might find the difference is AMAZING.
lol i have celiac and ppl r lwasy like "i would hate that"..it's seriously not that hard..iknow ppl who could have it and they dont want to get tested cause they dont want to give up bread lol i'm like fine...when your 40 and have stomach cancer i'm gonna say "well..i told ya so"

@bearcub410 it's almost instant. you will get gradually better in some of those less-reparable areas, but you won't get those crazy reactions
