I had a Mynah Bird who lived 10 yrs and picked up so many things. It swore esp the F word, he did the wolf whistle, copied my brother's Bronchial cough, asked "where ya going? and said hello each time the phone rang. Many other things too. Once in 1990 when they had the Census, a Nun came by to take a survery and while she was here The bird went off on his swear words and wolf whistle. The Nun had a very good sense of humor and we had a huge laugh!

Do you have a Mynah? My bird was ten yrs old and unfortunately he had some sickness that was breathing/congestion related. Since he coughed from Mimmicking my brother's bronchial cough we didnt think that his making sounds was him saying he was ill and not copying my brother. He was a very expensive bird when i bought him in 1986 I am not sure what a Mynah would cost now.. If you have one and bought it recently I would love to know what they cost.. thanks

Our mayna can say almost 20 words. She can say hello, and call all 7 of us by our own names, she can say Alleluia, alleluia, Amen!( with feelings), She can count one, two three and say words mostly tagalog "Kumusta" ( How are you), "Mabuti " (Good), "Salamat" ( thank you), Magandang Araw (Good day), She mimics the ringing of our telephone and she even answers hello for every telephone ring. I will make a video and upload here in youtube for all of you to see.

Sorry I cant help you because I have no idea how to identify the gender of a myna bird. You are right, I also read from an article that there is no way to find out if it is a male or female just by looking at its appearance. A friend told me that the yellow feather at the back of its head , if it grows long it is male. I am not sure if it is true.

Dogfoods should not be given to your Mynah. Ours died because of that. Beo is good for your Mynah, they have different flavors and it's really for Mynah birds. Coz in Dogfoods there are ingredients that the distestive system of your Mynah can't handle, unlike dogs they have big digestive system and can easily burn it.

yup bawal nga xa ng dogfood, masyado kasing maraming Iron ang dogfood w/c is bad for them, just give them a lot of vegies & fruits, if u already feed ur mynah dogfood, give them tea (lipton or kahit anong tea) it will atleast reduce the toxicity on their bodies
