Right around 1994... I waited in line, in the rain with 1000 other fans for a Pantera autograph signing. I was in a hurry and grabbed the only thing I had in my car. A pair of old lacrosse gloves. Dimebag took metal to the next level, he was an innovator. At the time Metallica was going hard and heavy, the heaviest around.....then one day i heard Cemetary Gates and thought, these guys are bad ass who is this? From then on Metal took on a new meaning and Dimebag did that with his fucking soul! You still are the man Darrell, always will be. One day i will visit your grave and thank you personally for what you did for music in my life. You can count on it! Its the least i could do for you!

if it wasnt for dimebag i would have stopped listening to metal because it was all getting dull but after i heard that opening cord to cowboys from hell when i was fuckin 10 or 11 i knew right then that i couldnt give up listening and believing. DIME we all miss you and it wasnt your time when you died it felt like my best friend died even though i never had a chance to meet you. i hope you dio rev and paul are up there ripping shit up and showing heaven what you showed down here on earth. If is wasn't for Dime i would never have picked up a guitar :( anyone in the music industry or any metal fan will agree when i say that this great man was more then human and the closest thing to god that ever walked this earth ....i have his picture tattood on my right hand and when im playing gigs and i look down to the fret board and i see that red beard....and that smile. it inspires me to give the crowd one hell of a show. So many stars seem to forget that. He never saw himself as others saw him, the greatest guitarist and human being of all time. He was a great person, and easily the best guitarist in the history of the instrument. When he met Ace Frehley and Ed Van Halen, they told him that he was their idol. That must be a fuckin special feeling for your own idols to turn around and say that. He never let it get to him. I was devastated when I found out he was shot. It really affected me, as it did anyone...

Everytime i hear this song i get chills in my soul. Darrell Lance Abbott was and forever will be my inspiration in Music, and in Life. The first time i ever heard Pantera was the 101proof live album and it was like ive always known who pantera was even though ive never heard them before in my life!!! Lets just say it was over from there! I was locked up unfortuneatley at the time of his death, and ill tell ya, ive never cried so fucking hard in my life! R.I.P Dimebag, ill never forget you man.
