i would suggest not geting these isreali's both military and civi since most are 12+ years. its not a good idea to go over 12 for a gas mask thats what my research has said various gasmask sales sites and all. if your wanting just to cover CS go ahead but any of the more dangerous stuff best to get under 12

The argest contract run for this model of mask was 2 years before Desert Dust Part 1, the adventure begins. you should go on the web and do some surfing try and find a US M 40 gas mask or an MCU2/p and make shure they have the butyl overskin they are recent issue and WILL protect you from NBC threats with the proper CURRENT filter i recently purchased an M40.... just letting you know so when the SHTF everyone can be prepared

hey dude, just to let you know..... thoose masks are NOT going to save you in a NBC(nuclear,bio,chem.) situation theese masks are well out of their useful life( the year they were made is on the right lower cheek of theese masks) and the life of theese masks is 20 years(wouldnt trust it past 5) and ontop of that that filter with the BLUE string seal is NOT NBC RATED in the first place it is an EXPIRED filter from WW2 (used with the german M38 mask) if you want real protection from NBC agents

I have an Israeli gas mask still in the bag and along with it I keep a razor and a can of shaving cream. Since I have a beard a gas mask would do me no good unless I have a clean shaven face. Any other bearded patriots out there?

I would like to take a moment to let the creator and every one else know this. His mask is fine but the filter he has is for training use only (CS tear gas protection only) you can tell this by the blue string on the seal regular NBC filter are not blue

Israeli masks are probably going to be the best because their neighbor is Syria whose military is geared toward using mustard gas and nerve agents against israel. Therefore israel can't be half-assed in making their gas masks.

As for myself... I have a modern mask made in Spain and its the same one you see the goones wearing at riots... I have an MBC filter and it is a urithane mask which wont help me with blister agents.. but with out the suit your screwed anyway... I have mine knowing that it wont save me I have it to give me time to take as many as I can with me... thats all..

your mask is a good mask HOWEVER the filter you have is a training filter ,the blue sting denotes it is for training only to be used against CS gas only. a full nbc filter like that has either a yellow or white string (they changed the color at one point to denote differant filler matter) now they do have a valid point a NBC filter that old sometimes have chrommium (toxic)issues but since that one is just a training charcoal filter i wouldnt worry about that

The carbon filters will be able to stop particles also nuclear dust, but not single atoms (or very small molecules), and filters will eventually be saturated anyway, so spare filters are nice to have.

But the problem is, a has mask can help only in select situations, if radiactive contamination is the problem then civilians will be screwed anyway if they don't have chemsuits and cleansing materials etc..

It can also be a good idea to get an idea of military ABC drills for such situations.

We called it ABC for AtomBiologicalChemical, in english that would be NuclearBiologicalChemical..

We were issued some 'muffs' containing a clay powder, this for removing contamination from clothes and equip also the uniform had a hood to be pulled around the mask and so on..

Civilians in T-shirts doesn't have this option, and most harmful stuff will go right through your skin anyway.

If the filter is exposed to free air it may or may not have pollutants circulating in it (some have reed valves) so you should buy some new filters, a single filter eventually gets saturated anyway..

Also important: facial hair may provide leaks between mask and skin, to have full effect from such masks: be shaved.

Probably would pay to drill yourself maybe 3 - 4 times a day for about a week or so. This is so it becomes second nature like 'riding a bike'.

how to "clear" a mask - in case you are putting on in an already gassed situation

how to change a filter mid-use

the length of a filter's use (the multi's have shorter use times)

and the shelf life of filters

if you are going to own a mask, it is another tool just like a weapon/firearm - you should know everything about it.

I speak from experience. Even people in good physical shape have trouble handling a mask during strenuous activity. Running a km with one on is a requirement (or at least used to be) in Polish schools as part of a self defense class. It would also be very wise to get familiar with the different chem/bio/rad agents the mask protects you from, and their effect on the body. Knowledge is Power.

I would also advise doing a few practice runs with the mask on. Try jogging/running 1km.

If you don't practice wearing it in a potential real life situation, you might run out of wind in a minute or two and jeapordize the rest of your party/crew.
