I am very passionate about IT and particularly the "Networking" side! can anybody tell what qualification I should do weather it be Microsoft or Comptia. As Cisco will be far too brain numbing haha I just want employers to know that I will have had a hands on approach gaining a qualification, while im young I wish to be working and saving, University seems to be less of an option for me right now! Any help about employment in Networking would be great ppl!! Much obliged ( =
@01thrilla well if you have a passion for networking, theres no better qualification than CISCO and it is very recognised by employers, apart from that the Microsoft Qualfications are very good.
I love the comments from people saying this guy is an idiot. There are different routs to get to the same goal. There is always disagreement among professionals. Stop saying this guy is an idiot. He seems to be talking from his personal experience. And remember, not everyone is gifted in this field. Some people have to really work at it. Nobody cares if you wired your first network at 12 years of age. Shut up and keep your "i'm better than you" attitude to yourselves.
hello, how can i do a, automatic startup in windows server 2003? like if the system turns off accidentally in the night, how to turn it on automatically by the system config, with any person beign there to do it manually?
this guy has no idea what he is talking about. I came out of college learning Security and electronics. I learned the shit on my own. never touched a cable or was i a cable installer i have higher standards. I used to install car stereos and setup home stereos on my own, networking came naturally.
I googled "switch tech" and it does exist. As a person trying to get into the field I researched a lot of what was said here. Most of it checked out w/ the IT people I spoke with, plus searching online.

totaly agree aquabat ive been in IT for 12 years, i have NEVER heard of a cable technician in my life! or a switch tech! or a senior switch tech! this guy has NO idea what the hell hes on about!
These responses are funny..lol. themadscotsman28...I've been a cable technician, and a switch tech since 2001. You have to keep in mind that there are different applications to IT, not just computers. These positions in question only exist in Telecommunication Networks. I can tell that this guy made the transition from telecom installation to computer administration, or at least Help desk tech.
Hey man , im doing a CISCO , im doing the CCNA and the CCNP its part of a skills train course. First im doing a A+ to learn essential info on pc's and then N+ which is the same but Networking. Your info is what ive been looking for because i want to see what happens in an everyday CISCO day etc. Good VIDS !!
As far as the CCIE goes, you don't *have* to be on the road; there are usually enough opportunities for a CCIE in most major cities to have gainful and well-paid employment and still have a family.
In fact, a CCIE often means the ability to make 150K and still live and Screwcow, Iowa and VPN into work and maximize your Cost of Living and still have tons of time with your family. (sometimes too much)
Keep in that's without a college education and working in DC. I could still do 90-100K almost anywhere else but if I want to go into management, I'll need to finish my BA/BS.
My advice is to get your CCNA and take a look at job as a 'glass watcher' in a Network Operations Center. Most of those jobs start around 30K and you'll get to learn quite a bit about networking.
Thanks for posting, a few people told me I was crazy if I thought CCIEs could make that. It is also good to know the non-travel jobs are out there as well.
I know CCIEs can make that much. I just mentioned the 60K because that is how much my bro-in-law, owner of a consulting firm, hired 2 CCIEs for, but that was right when the IT field took a hit about 5 years ago. I guess they are back to making that much now.
@TechAnvil Hi I was wondering if I can be a Network Administrator with just only an Associated Applied Science Degree (AAS) I thinking about going to my community college an going in to networking. What is usually the general entree level job for a networking graduate from a community college? Will I have a very very hard time finding a job in networking and if i want to be a network administrator if I would only have an associates degree with a CCNA cert since most networking jobs require a BS?
In one of my other vids I cover college, and I think that is the best choice. Not everyone is willing to go. If your choices are roofing or cable technician, be a cable technician.
You'd have to be in a pretty low paying area to get it that bad. CCIE median salary is $80,000+ a year. A sizable chunk upwards of $90,000 and a select few over $120,000. Hell, you can make $60,000 as a CCNA with minimal experience.

wow this guys has NO idea what he is talking about.
Cable Technician? Um, cable technicians usually don't become network admins. This job is usually always contracted out.
'switch techs' do not exist.
I love how he just said that 'switch techs' do no configure, yet he was talking about how they configure switchport security.
This guys does not have a job. or has NEVER worked in the field.
