  • so its basically a downstream swing on nylon?

    How weighted was the nymph?

  • @CREvoTheGreat It doesn't need to be a downstream swing, it just happened on this occasion that the trout took the Glo Bug as it lifted on the swing. The idea is to get down fast with as much weight as needed , being Nylon instead of proper fly line there is little drag and you can feel the take as you are in constant contact with the Nymphs. It works, there is no two ways about that, but for me it certainly isn't fly fishing!

  • Hey, the Waitahanui is not private access although the road is. You just need to walk along the river. There is a separate license for fishing the Taupo region, you can't use the NZ one.

  • is this private? are you allowed to fish the rivers into lake taupo with a NZ taupo district rod licence? thanks

  • gagsess you are right but if you note that he actually wets his hands before touching the trout!

  • so, with czech nymphing you dont actually use fly line, just normal line almost?

  • Nice stuff Mark, but i,m glad you're not my dentist, lol!

Also that rod seems very short for czech nymphing. It is usual to use a 10 or 11 foot rod with a short line for more control.

  • nice rainbow, but its not good for the fish to touch it with dry hands!!!!
