Hyper space in Star Wars is more of an acceleration, anticipating destinations and using on-board AI to maneuver.

Slipspace uses space-time displacement to cut into another physical dimension, so to speak, and arriving a shorter distance away in slipspace, which, interestingly, is actually millions of light years away in normal space.

Not really, If you played the last level of halo3, The halo rings have charging squences that take a few minutes, so in actuality, It would take a few minutes to be killed by the halo array.
