This is bullcrap, ive been wanting to make nothing but SK shorts for years, now i find someone and i can't even view them cause im not near a film festival. Gay.
I read the story for the first time less than a week ago--one of a collection of 14 stories. "Lunch at the Gotham Cafe` is also supremely good, as is "1408"(the movie sucks eggs by comparison). Mr. King remains the "king" of psycho-emotional horror.
This looks great. I really liked the short story and this seems like a solid adaptation. I hope this eventually becomes available sometime. There aren't very many film festivals in my area.
I wonder if it's too late to change the look of the film in post production before a home video release. For my tastes the movie looks far too clean and plastic--something that has plagued pretty much all media that has come out in recent years. In my opinion this new standard of "cleanliness" has sapped movies of their dramatic weight. Is there a way to add some depth or "noise" to the look of the picture. As it is, it looks almost like a modern-day reality show episode.
so, will this film ONLY be released to film festivals? no theaters? and will it be on dvd? this is my all time favorite story by stephen king, and this just looks great...but if its only going to be in festivals, then i'll never be able to see it =P
As of right now there is no theatrical or DVD distribution allowed and the film is limited to film festivals only. However, there have been other dollar babies that have landed distribution with Stephen King's approval. Hopefully we can impress him enough so that he allows the same to happen to EE. Where are you located? (curious about what festivals may be in your area)
@filmbuff28 theres gottta be a way for us to have this i have the book and the CD so keep us posted so we know when this will be on dvd . cause looks like it has areal budget and i know it has to be good .
Most of it looks great. Only the telephone conversation at the beginning seems odd. Different cinematography would have helped a lot there - moodier lighting or a tighter frame to convey the secrecy of the conversation, that sort of thing. Otherwise, great!
Thanks! You are right that the phone scene, it isn't moody enough. We haven't colored it at all and we plan to make this scene much darker in post color correction. We had to rush the trailer out so a lot of details were left out. Hope you get to see the whole film!
I totally agree. I thought there were some great looking shots, but the composition in that shot was very oddly set. Why all the dead space to the left of his head? I thought the actor who played the heavy was great. Dinky, in the bits I could see him, not so much -- he just looked like he was acting. I could be wrong. I'm definitely interested and I wish you well.
The project is still in post and has a tentative completion date of September 19th 2009. Once finished, it will be submitted to various film festivals around the world.

Hopefully this will play at San Jose's Cinequest Festival, which I believe is held in February. If it is, I will definitely be there!
