  • Harry is lying..i happen to know that he DID NOT see "The Day The Clown Cried"

  • @MissLisa1970 How do you know? I'm not trying to be rude; I'm genuinely curious.

  • @Scanshow A friend of mine who authored a book on Jerry's films spoke to Lewis himself about this subject. Jerry does NOT have the entire film due to lawsuits between Lewis and his film partners during the film’s production in Sweden. Lewis took the final reel of the film out of Sweden, but the rest of the footage was seized by the Swedish government when the lawsuits were filed locally in 1972- (continued)

  • @Scanshow The only version in Lewis’ possession is the video capture which he simultaneously shot while making the film, but this was meant for reference purposes only and was not designed for exhibition. Lewis is too much of a perfectionist to allow anyone to see one of his works in this rough of a condition. This version has NEVER left his home-nor has he ever lent it out for any type of personal viewing. Hence, Harry is lying.

  • what time to they talk about hte movie?

  • 4:44 and about thirty seconds thereafter

  • wish they at least spoke a little about The Day The Clown Cried tho, instead of merely asking his reaction.

  • derek smalls =)=)=)

  • i want to see day the clown cried so bad.

  • oh god me too. that movie is legendary amongst bad cinema fans. it's like the holy grail of bad movies.

  • Is it really bad or just weird?

  • It's Jerry Lewis playing a clown in World War II entertaining children in a concentration camp, and it ends with him using his humor to march them into the gas chambers. What do YOU think?

  • It definitely sounds strange but who knows... If handled the right way it could be sad enough.

  • Agreed. In fact Roberto Benigni did something like that with "Life is Beautiful" and it won an Oscar.

But Jerry Lewis?...I don't think so.

  • Yeah, you got me there

  • @JamesOhGoodie It’s legendary among idiots who call a movie bad based on its reputation, not on having seen it. Stills from the film establish Jerry doesn’t wear his hair slicked back and oily as the clown – that’s one of Harry Shearer’s fabrications. Over the years it’s become clear that Harry never saw the film, he made the story up to boost his reputation. The script’s available online and well worth reading.

  • there was youtube video but they pulled it! :(

  • Harry Shearer is a political satirist of the highest order.
