The southern variety of Sheepshead is a excellent fish to eat.However,the Northern Sheepshead is a different fish all together and yes,not to good to eat.

I used fiddlers and i would pull them out of the water and the legs and body would be missing, all that was left is the shell, but i didnt feel anything biting it.

These guys are using open face reels. I fish the same area as they do. I use a 7 ft. heavy action casting rod with a bait casting reel spooled with 30 to 40 lb. mono. You dont need to fill the reel with more than 50 ft of line. Any rod that has some backbone but a sensitive tip will work.
