Just a few points, we designed the Bushmster, and the new Hawkei MRAP vehicles, in Ute form as well, of course, and the Nulka ACM for the protection of ships in several navies, also the new multihulls coming on line in th USN and USMC, the new AUSPAR system on the HMAS Perth is an impressive system, and Metalstorm is still alive and kicking, and about to change the way we do point defence, on land and at sea, the M113AS4 is way more protected and mobile than it was before, in all, innovative.
@30sectodeath Funny as it may sound, you are close to unbelievably wrong. I have been up and down most of the entire east cost, where the majority population is, and there isnt a single pimp or prostitute where i've been. Unless you are refering to seeing whores in the outback chasing goanas around for the Aboriginies?
With what we australians may lack in numbers we make up for in skill and intelligence. We don't have the best stuff or big numbers but our diggers always seem to make do.
it's sad that australia is mainly purchasing their stuff from america, we should look to other nations for equipment. america is being outdone in air superiority, their logistics is all out of place. It would be amazing if australia could purchase the new 5th generation aircraft from russia at f-35 prices and quantities rather than the nothing-but-trouble f-35's or f-22's if we ever get access to
The USA currently has the best fighter planes, the best tanks, the best attack helicopters, the best frigates and the best aircraft carriers. Why should we look elsewhere? If anything, we should also be buying apache helicopters as well. The most crap thing they use is the M-16. And surprise surprise, we don't use them.
we have designed and are producing the Bushmaster personel carrier intended for the 2nd cav, england, the dutch you name it they have already bought some off us for testing or in englands case, i think they are using some with their special forces. But the Yanks wont buy em off us, cause dont know why.
Australians are one of the smartest people in the world we need to design our own stuff.we need more ships planes tanks everything but we need people to hop into this equip..with whats going on around the world that we might get more in our army...cause with whats going on with countrys like,,russia,china,pak,india,IRAN,korea..if a war starts out wit one of those countrys witch will soon there is going to be another ww then we will have to deal with millions of indos...
@ktm066 I really agree with you aye. im 13 and im going to join the Army to Serve my country (Australia) and our allies (Americ) and all of them but i know that there is going to be another ww in amatter of years and just like in WWII it will be from a country that no 1 would think. If a war starts it would be an honour to serve next to a American Allie!
@ktm066 Yes we do... i guess you didnt know this but in 2-3 years time i heard there is 4 companys comming up that are australian & own make australian made Army vehicles.. i have friends in the amry plus frineds that work for the Goverment..
The biggest factor in our military here in Australia is the party in power. The Liberal party in the late 90s up to 2007 had a good understanding of projecting Australias' relatively modest power in the best way possible, with focus on SF forces and mobility. The new government here though is scrapping paratroopers (because they believe the Commandos can do the same role) which is already putting more strain on our SF. Our Minister Of Defense is a former automotive electrician *sigh*.
Australia is the south pacific superpower its forces are designed to land quickly on islands and pack light. we rely on heavy mechanized infantry because it simply doesnt suit our purposes
America needs light, air-mechanized infantry in M113 Gavins, too. We may have created it but we need to relearn it; the smart Aussies can be our inspiration.

i think they should have kept 3rar as the para batalion because they are shock troops commando's are allready trained in static freefall haho halo al that and are a specialist team why not keep our shock troops and specialists seperate allso asmuchas 3rar doesnt hold the para role no more they stil have to do the 2 mandatory jumps everyyear so makes me wander was this a stingy cash job or was it 2 get the commando's more deployments an answer any1 plz reply so i can read up thanks
"I was a 19D Scout for 11 years, the first six on 113s, then the piece of s**t Brads. For Scouts, it couldn't get worse than the Bradley....too big, too heavy, too loud, too complex, and too slow to keep up with the M1s it's supposed to support. A 113A3 runs rings around it, the only advantage a Brad has is firepower, but if you're a bigger target than a tank without the armor to take hits like a tank, a Brad's firepower doesn't mean a thing."
Cool video! Although the Australian Army's parachute battalion 3RAR is re-roling to light infantry and giving up paradrop, so the airborne part of the army is kind of gone. But more infantry battalions are becoming mechanized with the M113 and Bushmaster so yeah :)

The Australian Defence force may not be the biggest or the most high tech but if ever any one invaded Australia, we would kick the shit out of them

I'm confused as to why an American would make a video like this about the Australian Army? :/

Nice mix tape of Army videos. The random and constant featuring of that electro-dance track really ruins it though...I mean...what the fuck?
