Hey thanks for the tips. Everything is great except I can't change my resolution from 800 x 600 and I think as a result I can't use any of the desktop effects. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks a lot man, I've been looking for the ,,windows picker effect" for a while and I didn't know how to turn it on. It's very handy and now I finally got it :)
Hay man, Nice tutorial... Using Ubuntu 9.10 (Koala). I think I'll have to download Mandriva and do a comparison. Are there any post installation issues..? Thanks again...
I'm running a 24" monitor at 1920x1200. Even with a good graphics card capturing that resolution just results in horrible video.
I've tried many linux and windows capture apps and none gave satisfactory results. FRAPS in Windows has probably been the best but that only works in 3d applications and well... windows.
Yeah, it only works ok when I select a very small section of the screen to record. And since I had to show over things like the Desktop Grid there was no way to do it.
I would like to use a screen capture app but alas, I've yet to find something that works in capturing the full screen.
saw weeeeeeet!

You can always install KDE and switch between them. Some of these tips go for both kde and gnome.
