Austria-Hungary was competing for territory and influence in the Balkans against Serbia and Russia, Germany was an ally and so got dragged into it much like the US and Britain did. For two, Russia wasn't really focusing Poland. They had their eye on all of Europe, Germany included, in WW2. Poland was lost to Germany whether Russia got involved or not. You can say it wasn't one on one, but it could have been, and had the same result.

You have to be aware that those "only" 15 000 civilians were killed during German Fall Weiss campaign 1IX-6X. Most of poles and polish jews were killed during German occupation. Ofiar (=victims+honour in Polish) in Poland was about 5 600 000, but they also came because of Soviet army and GULAG's lagers. Ofiar all around the world was ~72 707 700 (wikipedia).

Austria-Hungary was competing for territory and influence in the Balkans against Serbia and Russia, Germany was an ally and so got dragged into it much like the US and Britain did. For two, Russia wasn't really focusing Poland. They had their eye on all of Europe, Germany included, in WW2. Poland was lost to Germany whether Russia got involved or not. You can say it wasn't one on one, but it could have been, and had the same result.

@bumschak12 Ye, ye... But Polish used to have few millions of People more before the war than after. You have to be aware that those "only" 15 000 civilians were killed during German Fall Weiss campaign 1IX-6X. Most of poles and polish jews were killed during German occupation. Ofiar (=victims+honour in Polish) in Poland was about 5 600 000, but they also came because of Soviet army and GULAG's lagers. Ofiar all around the world was ~72 707 700 (wikipedia).

40 to 1 is inspired by the battle of Wizna where 700 Polish soldiers fought three days against more than 42 thousand soldiers werachtu, at one Pole killed, there were 40 dead Germans (because the song in August so called) and this video is inappropriate because it is the battle for Warsaw

@tombstoneSHARK Yes but, this battle was not situated in Varsava! 700 polish soldiers was hold defend line near Wizne against 41000 and a lof of their vehicles. They was conquered , but every polish soldier killed 40 nazis it is 2800. This battle is called "Polish Thermophily" sory for super bad english :)
