@gamhazell Not to be confrontational but Spurgeon was an amazing expositor, you should read the volumes and volumes of books he has written, Prince of Preachers
@simmons9k LOL I asn't trying to be confrontational. I constantly interact with Spurgeon's works. He is great with Doctrine in my opinion...but as far as interacting with the text and drawing out the author's intent and the implications thereof, I don't think he did much of that. I read spurgeon's works and sermons as a form of systematic theology...not necessarily exposition of scripture. Still...don't get me wrong. Spurgeon is a hero of mine.
@gamhazell LOL, I understand your perspective and he has done a lot of work. I am most familiar with his morning and evening devotions and the expository work that he does with the verses are amazing. Daily he would have evening devotions with him and his wife and exposit the text meaning that he understood the proper context and made it relevant to his listeners. But I digress, this song is really on point lol
@simmons9k maybe I missed something and I definitely have not read all of Spurgeon's works...there are so many but I don't see much explanation of biblical passages from what I have read.

Spurgeon was a good thinker theologically...but he wasn't really an expositor per se. But he handled doctrine well.

@simmons9k I love reading Spurgeon! Have you read Pride the Destroyer? It's my favorite writing so far.
