  • fantastic!

  • What a huge collection. I am not a fan of SET in open baffle, Altec, Lowther or other fullrange speakers. Sounds old to me. It is a matter of taste, of course. But you have a really nice collection here. Congrats.

  • WAAAAAY COOOOL!!!!! Beautiful system!!!

  • More video please,

  • Good Day!

This does the job. For such an uncomplicated set, Proof that you don't HAVE to be accessing 400w of output, or remortgage one's house, to buy overpriced stereo! Just keep fresh stylus, do not use dull one!

I inherited my grandparents' Electrohome "Clarion MK1" It is 1950's mono. Sounds good. I can watch my antique B+W tele. not crazy! Colour nice,..but not necessary!

    Kudos, my friend...good show,EH

  • @RetroCaptain

    Why not have both?

I have a solid state system with Bryston pre and 500w mono amps and big powerhungry B&W's. Its very fast and musical.

But i LOVE seeing this (opposite approach) rig.

    Nicely done, je2a3!

i'd love to hear it in person.

  • Folks, it's not really that important what equipment he has, it's the fact that he has made HiFi a "Hobby"! That's a concept this new generation, with their MP3-Ipod hardware can't understand. (My son for one). This man enjoys the craft and that gives him peace of mind and/or quality of life. I too have a lot of vintage gear from the 60's/70's and I'll state here & now that fiddling with hardware for that elusive sound is what its all about. ...Love the horns..I'm a Klipshorn owner myself.

  • @amceagle1 Yes, exactly! A lot of older equipment has warmth, soul, and a sentiment that mass produced items these days just don't. The most important thing is- he loves his music.

  • Love it!

  • beautiful!

  • clap clap clap clap bravo ! five star ***** love your system truly extraordinary ..

  • It sounds very nice!

  • Nice. Mono is the way to go for large events or large distances away from the speaker.

  • Scary looking system

  • very awsome dude.love hi fi like the horns looking for some horns my self have but looking for bigger ones.i bet they really bring out the music

  • I think a wife is needed here - but I like your system!

  • Monsieur, merci, you are brilliant to not fall in the powerfull audio marketing. It is not ease to lesten our personnal good feelings. I'm one of the canadian most regarded for hi end audio component designer; and keep it secret, but at home i have a $50,000. 'monoral' system!!! This system I'm tuning were created in 1960 by the Phillips head engener himself. He said ''Dont make the mistake to go for the Stereo before lestening this awesome 3 way ambiophonic monoral.'' Stereo and more.. are less

  • One of the best collections I've seen. Perhaps Altec Lansing A-8s with 511 horns.

  • Hé young man? good things in life is to know and be sure to what we are talking about. Have you ear this system? Before i was arrogent like you and be sure it is ok! but with that you loose the opportunity to get more in your life; no opening, you look throo a funnel. I'm in the audio until 1975 and build nead 50 different speaker and systems. Trust me ... open your mind and dont juge. Yes a great monoral well built give lot lot more presence to the event your recreating.

  • Ave I 'ear' this systeme? -Two ears better than one, maybe you 'try looking throo a funnel' before making your videos, after all Youtube is primarily 'a video sharing site' and you haven't posted any! Arguments against stereo at the outset were about interference between two speaker sources. Too often pursuists are the ones blocking out competition, particularly if selling for profit! At cost, compare specialist Home Theater's least interference between speaker sources and its High Fidelity?

  • @keplermission what the hell are you talking about?

  • ShirFromShinolla - you see the -6 comment removed? Twas saying modern 5.1 Channel Home Theater does a pretty good job, speakers like Cerwin Vega satellites and Rel storm subwoofer. Well it weren't too popular as a comment on this post so next I says dealers must be voting it down, y know people selling elderly stuff from house clearance sources to make a profit? Classic is okay but the new high dynamic range Home Theater is really better and don't it don't cost any more, add satellite and go!

  • ShitFromShinolla - But I know REL subwoofers are a UK thing. They're not in the USA and when you listen to those Klipsch Home Theater speakers with the treble horns, people could think, 'bass sounds pretty thick and horrible.' Well I reckon some folks who buy new Klipsch don't listen, they're prestige buyers, wanna lose a friend? or a customer? Tell them what you really think about new Klipsch tower speakers! It isn't done! In the USA, not getting to try before you buy limits best results!

  • @keplermission Here in the US, high-end audio dealers have fine accommodations for potential customers. They set up sound proof acoustically balanced listening rooms so people can listen before they buy. Sound preference is subjective. Some like the think bass response produced by a ported 15" woofer & others like a thinner tighter 1 produced using two 6.5" woofers in an air tight enclosure. Arguing about sound preference is a futile endeavor. I prefer a 1978 Emerson & Panasonic Thrusters.

  • ShitFromShinola - you should just say what US State offers 'fine accommodations for potential customers'. Better yet may even be a dealer or dealership that help people more than many prefer to! Our ears take months to get used to very different speaker voices, so not everybody cares for Altec 604 sound, though the looks sure mean business & that's why Urei made their 604 studio version. Certain the Realistic Mach Two ported bass 15" woofer does wonders for similar age Shack stereo receivers.

  • 25 watts per channel

  • Great collection of 50's tube hi fi gear, and you did a great job picking up the sound here on this video, which gives a good "aural" image of the incredible reproduction this system puts out!...Simply Awesome!!!

  • Ahhh the 50's great era. Life was a lot simpler then ,wish we could go back in time.

  • Nice setup!

  • AAAAHHHHHH! The wonderful days of vacuum tubes. Great memories. Thanks for sharing this.

  • just in case you didn't realise it...they're still here !

  • Thanks so much for that, i felt like crying when i see it all, just wonderfull ^.^

  • Excelent!!! Now Elvis Presley - Return to sender i want to hear thru your system.

  • Beautiful! My kind of system!

  • Great set-up. I am jealous:) Can you post more close up video of that great turntable in action? I want to see one of those tonearms up close. They are too expensive for me now:(
