I think it is just the inevitable tale of being human. Eventually Mars will be the next wild west frontier and people will move there to get away from conformity. Eventually the Earth's governments will try to flex their muscles to bring Mars under heel and there will be a rebellion. The same cycle has been repeated countless times through history already.
