It's not the fact that Katara and Aang happened, I think it's the fact that the writers put so much...tension between Zuko and Katara. It's like in every single scene you can see a little bit of something can go on between them, and yet she ends up with Aang. And of course, the writers had to make Katara go with Zuko in Sozin's Comet, and Azula had to (almost) hit Katara, and Zuka had to save her. And then they go the rest of their lives forgetting it.
