I got a 450GTS as well and I can't run it on high only tweaked high on around 30 fps I even have a 6 core amd the fuck is wrong with this game?

Graphics never was AoC's problem, its the game mechanics and the refusal of the dev's to listen to the player base.

in times like 600 BC, the men would already be much better geared than this, like access to chain mails, full body plate armors, shields, and whatever else.

Even archers, like in this vid, used in the roman army, woujld get chain mail coating, helmets, etc. Never fishing boots and legs showing lol. Looks like some sort of farmer with an homemade bow, anything but a fighter.

So this is not accurate, and it looks like a lvl 3 =)

@gravex85 the key to that comment was the year, 600 BC, but you didn't seem to get that did you. If in that age such gear was already available, then this video does not portray "what it really looked like".

And rogues were/are basicly mercenaries, rebels, so yea, they did use more than just leather. Look around.

Roman Kingdom army using unarmoured slingers as only ranged element = c600BC

Only richest spearmen using partial bronze plate (BP/helm/greaves) = c700-200BC

First Roman use of archers = probably in the Auxilia, created in 30BC

Ok, so this looks better wow both in DX9 and DX10. wow is poorly coded, but this game is'nt any better when doing DX10. 5970 scores 80-50 FPS in WoW (all maxed) and 50-60 fps AoC DX10 (all maxed). DX9 on AoC is much better coded, it does around 150-220 fps (all maxed dx9), and it is still better graphics than wow, MUCH better if you ask me. This game is very playable, but you need to do some tweaks in settings.

Conan is much better now, then at launch. The expansion is also great :)

Some of the Khitai zones are really big and detailed that running it is a pain on the ass unless you have the very best graphics card of today

The games engine is terrible and buggy

I've had shit fps in some areas even on lowest settings but most areas I run maxed no problem.

Don't go for the X6. The X4 is far more than enough. You should be able to get the 955 relatively cheap, and it's one heck of a cpu. I'm running it air cooled at 3.8.

Graphics-wise, you should go for the 5850. It's "better" than the 5770 and not necessarily worse than the 5870.

The game has come a long way since release. I played at release and quit within the first month. I just re subscribed few weeks ago and I am loving it. They've added tons of new content, gear, quests, etc. Also server population is pretty good.
